Super Bowl LII Thread

Fletcher Cox will play in a Super Bowl, claims he has never watched one – ProFootballTalk

I bet you there are many players around the league that don't watch, I remember Will bLAkmon saying he's never liked watching football.

As for the game itself,

I'm going Pats 30 Eagles 21

I’m sure there are players that don’t watch much football but Cox clearly has watched a SB. He sounds like people that like to brag about not watching any TV.

I don't want to derail this thread but this conversation reminds me of this SNL skit lol:

To stay on track, I hope the Pats win. I'd rather they win 10 SB's than the Eagles win their first.

Re: Super Bowl LII Thread

I hope the Eagles get the crap kicked out of them and have a SB loss-hangover that lasts several seasons. But boy, they sure dominated the Vikings, and I have to believe that this will be a dogfight.

The Eagles strategy of having lots of D-linemen and platooning them in and out will be tested as I expect Bellichick to do a lot of hurry up as the counter. Playing indoors will also work to the advantage of the team with better overall speed -- Cooks could have a good day for NE.

I hope it does succeed, and I can't wait for it to start. I will be watching! Vince said it's not going to be the same XFL that it was back in 2001. No gimmicks, no WWE crossover talent. None of that stuff! The teams, the league - all owned by McMahon. No one with a criminal record will be allowed in the league. That includes Manziel. There will be no display of social protests in the league. Vince is giving this league two years to prepare, so that they can scout out the best players and have them practicing in advance in order to put out a better product.

I like what Vince McMahon is doing. He said the XFL is not going to be a development league for the NFL. He wants it to be its own professional league. 8 teams (to start with) and a 10 week season. He has my support!

Should all so show you who the're going after in the draft at #2. I would still rather trade down and get more picks but it looks like the RB from Penn St. They still might grab a QB put not at #2 .

I kept thinking RGIII when reading this article. Only difference is, RGIII wanted to change his playing style, Wentz doesn't. I never want to wish anything ill-fated no anyone, but you start to wonder how long of a career Wentz will have playing as aggressive as he does? He's already had a major injury in only his second season.

He also isn't going to have any time for Player protests or any of that. I don't want to re-ignite the Anthem debate, but Vince has the right idea by saying that the national anthem / flag, etc., will not be televised / part of the game, because people don't want to watch patriotism or politics, they want to watch football. He did say that he had no issue with protests, kneeling, etc., as long as they were on the players' free time and not the XFL's.

Only thing i don't get though, if Vince is the owner of all 8 teams, how can he decide how to make the teams competitive, or decide which team he wants to make try and win? I don't mean like he's going to rig it, but i am asking, like will he hire 8 independent general managers, give them all the same amount of money, and tell them may the best man win?

I figured out my rooting interests in the SB. I'm rooting to win at squares, last week I won $125 off the third quarter of Vikings-Eagles, so I took 100 of it and bought 5 squares for next week at 20 per. If I win one quarter I get 500, if I lose I was playing with house money anyways lol. And I got some good numbers too, 3-3, 7-4, 8-4, 6-3, and one other I forget.

People don't like their country being protested, especially on the basis of lies.
Link Shocker!

Even more shocking, people protest and expect no backlash.

Most shocking of all, politicizing sports is divisive. SHOCKING, I say!

It's sure to attract the middle-aged white man crowd that can't watch football because a guy is kneeling during the national anthem.

Has anybody seen the most recent Chappell standup on Netflix? Welp, it hilarious of course but I roared at the bit about the flag kneeling. He threw in an OJ reference and an imitation of the kneel....I bout fell off my couch in laughter. It’s perfect.

Sometimes with these issues, humor puts it in perfect context.

Funny thing to say about something done when the flag and national anthem are presented.

Oh wait, in Colin Kapernick's own words: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a FLAG for a COUNTRY that oppresses Black people and people of color. " (Bold, underline, and caps mine)

Guess Kapernick didn't get the memo about kneeling never being about the flag or country. Someone should educate him.

;)

It was about a benched former QB who was looking for a way to become pertinent again as others joined in the gesture was interpreted as a different thing altogether. Lets remember when this QB in question was a starter he did nothing of the sort and life was fine.

In all due respect to you, and please do not take this as a personal attack, but I truly feel sorry for you if you believe that Kaepernick's protest was really deep down about him not being a starting QB.

I did, long week, wanted something to wash my brain... it was perfect. Boring as F but exactly what you want to fall asleep (the game started at 9pm for me).

I seriously think they should make it a flag football game. This year it was really obvious they agreed not to tackle and not to hit. The refs blew the play dead as soon as the ball carrier was touched.

It was a thud practice with some of the best players in the game. If you watch it that way, not expecting it to be a real game, it's "fun", well it's not worse than most of the things they put on TV anyway.

Landry had a really nice catch. He really has great hands.
