Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Why not? At least Bryant would stay healthy and produce. Doctson is made of glass and hasn’t done squat since being drafted.

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Before anyone gets on here and says hes crazy, he does have a solid point and dez wants to play in the nfce. Doc just isn't that guy... We suck at drafting wrs

Dez isn’t the answer

for long term no, but for the rest of the season? He cant be any worse as long as would not be a baby |
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Not sure I see a significant difference in Dez and Michael Floyd, ability-wise, at this point in their respective careers.
|
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Dez could come in and produce more than Doc, but the not worth the headache. He isn't a team guy...he's me guy.

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
I honestly do not care much what Doctson does, because right now he is the 5th or 6th best receiving option in the team. If he starts producing, great; if he doesn't, he is the 5th/6th receiving option on the team.
It sucks if he doesn't work out, because that's a wasted 1st round pick. But as long as the team is doing well, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. |

He is who he is at this point. But the problem is we're going to need production from the X wr at some point. We're not going to be able to run the ball every week. There will be games where we have to lean on the pass, especially against better defenses. Or there will be games where we're behind. This organization simply can not draft wr's. |

If I woke up tomorrow and this was the headline, meh.

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
i'll pass. some investments take a little longer to pay off. this would IMO show a real lack of patience for the coaching staff. If Doc isnt playing at the level you want move him down the depth chart. see what happens. I wouldnt cut him and add Dez, tho, no.

Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
There’s no risk at all I’ll bring him in on a veteran minimum prove it contract For one year. He either performs like Peterson has or he doesn’t and he’s a head case and we cut him, but anything is better than a useless wasted roster spot like Docs been
Our passing game has been trash and he’s one of the reasons why. We were relying on him to be a number one, and he clearly hasn’t been. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
We have a good locker room, no need to risk that on a guy who would be a 4th or 5th receiving option at best
|
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Huh? When motivated and in the right position Dez can clearly be a number one and one of the most dominant receivers in the league

Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Mark my words. The decision to stick with a useless wide receiver like Doc and not find a true number one stUd Will sink this team eventually.

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Jay’s offense is a passing attack. What’s the ceiling when your best WR is actually your TE....that’s not good

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Sorry he’s just not a #1 anymore. And he’s not going to come in here not knowing the offense and get more targets than Reed, Crowder, Thompson, Richardson, or even Davis. He’s on the street for a reason. He hasn’t produced at a high level since 2014.
|
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
I'm not sure we cut Doctson yet, but we can demote him and give another receiver a chance and it might motivate him to get better. I think any receiver on the team can get better stats than Doctson has had over the years. Give someone else a chance.

This should have happened 21 posts ago...
Retarded thread. |
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
If the passing game was struggling and Doctson was the obvious cause I could see the concern. But neither of those things are the case.
|
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
IMO, Left Guard needs to be addressed immediately next offseason...but at WR, we need to bring in a reliable Pro who can push Doc/Robert Davis/Sims on the outside. We need a more reliable option there...A vet, team guy who can make a play.
Also, Jamison Crowder is off to his slowest start to the season...avg 3 receptions per game. Think he is up for contract, we need him to do more. |
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Speaking of the Sims, what happened to him? What's his injury?

High ankle, very 1st play of the season on ST. Placed on IR, my guess for the rest of the season. I can see Quinn being brought back. |

Schneed, I'm disappointed in your mild reaction to this thread. This is the dumbest fucking idea I've heard in years. What is this, Madden? |

Please no Dez. Anything but him. He wore out his welcome in the Big D!

It’s become clear that Doctson is not the type of receiver the Redskins need. He can be good, if he is afforded the chances he needs. But the Redskins’ current offense, helmed by Alex Smith, doesn’t place a great amount of value on receivers to begin with, and there’s a type of receiver that fits it best. Doctson isn’t it. Doctson’s case isn’t pure bad luck, and it isn’t injury proneness alone. There is a fundamental part of Doctson’s game that holds him back from reaching his full potential in the Redskins offense. Can he reach it somewhere else? Save your speculation. In time, we may find out for ourselves. |
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Yes, I did read what I posted. It’s ANOTHER writer THREE YEARS later STILL wondering what Doc will be. He’s dead weight. That’s what he is

How long did we hold Malcom Kelly and Devin Thomas???? If THREE years later you still don’t know what you have, you have a problem. The guy has more health problems than my 90 year old grandmother:

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
Give him the full year and see his stats. If he only plays like 12 games and has 24 catches, we might need to move on.
I still think he'll end up being very valuable for us. |
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
I’ve seen enough with him to know we should consider elevating Mo Harris or Floyd to his role but releasing him for Bryant would be utterly stupid and is the statement that made all of us immediately judge you as a moron.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Show me where it says he's dead weight or should be cut. Here's the article in a nutshell
The Josh Doctson situation is one with many layers, layers that must be uncoiled. If you’re looking for someone to tell you that he’s a bust, or that he’s soft, or that the next NFL phenom waiting to explode onto the scene, you’ve come to the wrong place. Sweeping generalizations dissuade constructive thought. The truth, as it often is, is more complex.
|

If Doctson is healthy enough to stay off injured reserve, the Redskins could look into trading him, but the amount of suitors would inevitably be sparse. There’s too much uncertainty surrounding the TCU product. More likely than not, he will spend the rest of the season with the burgundy and gold, in some capacity. In the case of any relocation, a question must be asked: Is the situation bad enough, that the Redskins feel it would be best to cut ties altogether, if no trades materialize? |
Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant
I have no idea about whether Dez is good/bad teammate I have no way to know and never just accept media narrative about any player.....
I do know that Dez would instantly be the best receiver on this squad And despite all the negative comments about his production his production is still better then most people probably realize Bring on Dez |
