Panthers Pre game thread
Enough about the Saints game..
On to Carolina. https://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2018101408/2018/REG6/Panthers@Redskins?icampaign=scoreStrip-globalNav-2018101408 Panthers come in at 3-1 but they have really struggled on Offense like us, I don't see them putting up many points on our D at home. If we can contain Cam and force him to pass we will be fine. Skins win a dogfight 23-17. |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
Defense will bounce back this week.
Im not so sure about the Offense...if Alex Smith has a terrible game Im bringing back the "Alex Smith trade thread" and Im gonna break shit |

Re: Panthers Pre game thread
Guys it gonna get worse ... Gruden is a joke!! Carolina 45. Skins 14
|
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
Redskins have never beaten Cam Newton and I don't think it starts Sunday either, plus Greg Olson could be back for him. 26-16 Panthers.
|
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
After the dumpster fire of MNF I dont see how anyone can pick us to win.I went to bed early in 3rd qtr of MNF and was pleasantly shocked to see the Saints didnt hit 50 points.
I think it's a closer game but not picking a skins win |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
In typical fashion Skins bounce back and continue this up and down cycle 24-16
|
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
Statistically they're just as average as we are, if not worst. Except that they've been running the ball well...
Surprisingly we still have the 5th ranked overall D (7th passing, 6th rushing). Really don't know what to expect from this game. Talent is here, we need a spark in this locker room, whether it comes from players or coaches, I don't care, this roster has been improved in too many areas to watch another season derail, without the excuse of injury to hide piss poor effort. More of a hope rather than a prediction, but I'll go ahead and say our D fixes miscues, keeps us into a close game, run game gets going and we win at home: Skins 20 Panthers 17 |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
I honestly don't know what to expect. We'll see.
|
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
Probably hyperbole on my part, but this game will define how the rest of the season goes. If we lose we're looking down the barrel of another 7-9ish season. Win. This. Fucking. Game.

The next 5 games are all winnable but also loseable with this team |

Agree. If the Skins lose its the beginning of the end for the season and the coaching staff. They better win. |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
If we can't win 2 in a row overall, let's win 2 straight at home. Tired of losing to Carolina. 5 in a row is pathetic.

This is how Im leaning. I think the defense should be pissed off and could look more like the previous games...we wont be facing a top 3 offense in the league. Its all about containing the run game by McCaffery and Cam...Lets not blow a coverage this week, that would be nice. We need a spark, how about special teams making a play for once? how about fake kick? fake punt? The offense works best when we get the defense moving from sideline to sideline...need better blocking on the outside for this to work |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
we dont have a pass rush and seems like we BARELY scheme to compensate for that. it's a shame but i think we get beat again... we never have great success containing mobile qbs - we're almost always out coached on both sides of the ball and some of the players flat out gave up monday - i'm done with gruden, and im done not having a bonafide aggressive d coordinator -- fucking done with this joke of a franchise... hope it improves sometime...... i still think we lose but i hope im wrong

Re: Panthers Pre game thread
What is this "at home" b.s. I keep reading here. You all should know by now that we do not have a home field advantage anymore. So take that out of your equation for picking Redskins games. That's one more thing that Dan Snyder has F'ed up.
I have no idea which team might win this game and I don't care a whole lot about that right now. The Skins have a whole lot to straighten out before we can become contenders and I am very skeptical about that ever happening with Dan Snyder owning the team. That Monday night fiasco has really got me thinking why I even bother to follow the Skins anymore - after 60 years. It's just the accumulation of all the incompetence and disrespect we fans have endured since Snyder bought the team. |

Jay "We need to get Josh the ball, he needs more opportunities"
I do agree that we need to throw it up to him more for those 50/50 plays in the RZ |

Panthers Pre game thread
Panthers 31
Skins 17 We will not be a .500 or better team at any point the rest of this season. We have an idiot owner. Im not even sure if we have a gm. We have a completely unqualified head coach, and a lousy quarterback. No wide receivers. Im not even gonna finish the list of what we don’t have. Im sick about this team. Just sick. The last thing I remember we were up 14-0 against Seattle in the playoffs and than someone woke me up. |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
I hear you punch but this is a lousy division .. 9-7 wins it maybe 8-8 .. so if there is any hope of a positive outcome we are in the right division ! We could lose 6 more and still win division ! We all know that this will be it for gruden either coach it up and get in the playoffs or your gone so we can be entertained by that scenario. Truth is this is a middle of league team has been for a long time and that’s a frustrating place to be.. I could actually see us getting to playoffs and gruden let go .. but until this team gets a true football GM we are gonna be the 7 to 9 win team .

Wouldn't Josh first need to be in a game before he could get more opportunities? Isn't Jay Gruden the man who held Josh out of the Saints game? Besides, what has Josh ever done in the NFL? He's not going to save us. Gruden should listen to himself talk. He doesn't even make sense anymore. |

No way in hell we go above .500 this season. Alex Smith is worse than Mark Brunell in 2006 and you guys know I loved that guy. And the best part is that Bruce Allen will still be here next year to make sure we screw everything up again. |

Re: Panthers Pre game thread
I was so optimistic as the season started but I'm definitely losing faith in Gruden's ability to organize a coaching hierarchy that ensures high performance.
It would be one thing if we went toe to toe with the Saints and just lost because we got beat by a good QB. But we have idiots in the secondary blowing coverages. Mental mistakes, whether due to lack of communication or due to not knowing responsibilities or due to lack of discipline, they all fall on the head coach. It's a sign that Gruden's coaching staff either isn't handling the personalities, aren't setting the appropriate tone or driving accountability, or aren't communicating well enough with the players. I'm not sure which of those is the problem, but the Saints game was a sure sign that something is afoul with the coaching. I agree I don't think we finish better than 8-8 and Gruden will be fired at season's end. I don't even care if we win this game or not because I know where the season's headed. |

Unfortunately you dont see many Old school coaches anymore. When you have guys saying "practice is too easy" that is a problem. Idk who we would go out and replace him with but something needs to change now if he wants to keep his job. IMO nothing less than 9-7 should keep him around. |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
god please may this team just eclipse 7 wins so i can win some money on what i thought was a decent bet

Well it cant get any worse. He was really off Monday |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
I'm not worried about Alex. He has a history of regular season success.
That being said, run the ball 20+ times every game, I don't care of we're only averaging 1 yard a carry. Run the fucking ball Gruden. That's how you set up an identity. Alex and this offense plays best when balanced. We're not the Saints, don't call the game like we are. |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
This team constantly does the same 2 things under Gruden:
On offense, abandoning the run like a sinking ship for no reason and on defense, sloppy, undisciplined play, ala Nicholson's personal foul and guys streaking down the field wild open. |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
Hey, everyone. I'm sorry you lost for several reasons. Wanted you to beat a division rival, and I know the Skins will play extra hard after the loss, but also, I wanted you guys in a good mood so we could enjoy chatting about our game.
I'm not much in to conspiracies, but you were definitely set up to lose Monday. The NFL had a product to sell and that took precedence over everything else Monday. That really scares me about this week. I think we'll see your best. |

We're not the Saints but we're also not the 91 Redskins. We aren't good enough to just show up and run people over. We have to have balance. We have to get the ball to Reed who has been a non factor. |

Exactly this. If I recall correctly the Skins had called the most run plays of ANY team in the NFL going into Monday Night..? I think our biggest problem is that we don't have any WR's that scare anybody. Our entire offense is run out of the backfield/slot with Peterson, Reed, Crowder and Thompson. With 1 or 2 balls going outside to Richardson. We really need Doctson to impose some sort of threat out wide. Lets hope he can start getting some targets. |
Re: Panthers Pre game thread
Yes I remember that stat. We were 2-1, running the ball produces winning football.
Monday we couldn’t run the ball and Alex pass attempts were the highest of the season. That is losing football. Not hard folks, not hard at all. |
