Giants Postgame
First thing first, game ball goes to whole Defense. Giants O line sucks and we took advantage and dominated. DJS is playing at a crazy level, whole D line has been awesome.
Offense is bad but we can run the ball and Alex doesn't turn it over. Why are we hating on Smith so much? We are 5-2 and 2-0 in the east. I know we are used to big pass plays lately but that is not Alex's game. Plus we don't have a WR1. Httr folks 3 in a row! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
Re: Giants Postgame
Thank god for ap and a legit Oline
Our defense played their ass off...game ball to them. And it was a complete defensive effort. Alex smith is garbage...the excuses are gone folks. Giants defense is not good...he had more than enough time to throw. He gotten much more protection and has had more weapons THIS year than Cousins ever had last year...Cousins is head and fuckin shoulders better than Alex. Anyone who said Alex was a comp and better...get the fuck out |

Our defense is in the water...

Re: Giants Postgame
Man, all of these f'ing crybabies. What, you want 500 passing yards and losses?
I'll take the ugly wins with a strong defense and running game. We're 5-2, so GTFOH with all the whining. |
Re: Giants Postgame
The style police are going to hate this win but 5-2 is all that matters

Special teams was solid too. Great job by the coaching staff for everyone except Jay. Jay and Alex need to figure it the fuck out.

Re: Giants Postgame
Once I'm done exhaling I'll love them both again and be pumped about 5-2 (2-0).
Just win baby. |
Re: Giants Postgame
7 sacks today? That’s Bigly
Terrible mistake to sign Alex to that extension. He’s a step behind Eli. |

Re: Giants Postgame
Road win v division opponent, I'll take it. D-line was having a party and baking cakes in the backfield, Barkley 38 yds nice. Offense not so much.
|
Re: Giants Postgame
Man, Alex Smith just wins during the regular season. He did nothing today, but again, no turnovers and a W.
Hold on to your butts, every game is going to be close. We beat Dallas at home and Giants in Meadowlands. Feels good now. Got some more grey hairs during the game. |
Re: Giants Postgame
Seven sacks! Barkley held well under 100 yards rushing....Swearinger had 2 picks....A.P. had over 130 yards rushing....today was a great day...HTTR

Re: Giants Postgame
This run defense tho. It's very very very elite right now. Enough sample size to give them this label. Its basically not an option for teams. Make Eli 1 dimensional and its a wrap.
Our pressure stats were way better than I realized too. |
Re: Giants Postgame
Scott gave us Scherff and Ioannidis. I don't think he excelled here but he got us some beasts where its the most important to have them.

Well he’s a step behind Eli in terms of being done. Eli’s done though for real. Look at Eli now...that’s Alex maybe next year, and def in 2020. We need to do 1 of 2 things.... 1. either completely transition too a running team...LG, Blocking TE and interior depth Oline, as well as drafting or paying a solid RB Or 2. we need to get rid of Alex It’s one or the other folks.drafting a young qb is on the list either way |
Re: Giants Postgame
I would definitely draft a QB next yr. Alex only has another year at most left

Re: Giants Postgame
Alex is here for at least 3 years (I still have faith in him too) and Colt just got extended. IMHO I don't see us drafting a QB this year, nor do I think they should.

Agreed, people need to slow their roll... And can we just enjoy being 5-2 for a minute |
Re: Giants Postgame
Alex Smith had all day to throw, wish we could punish more on those play action throws.

And can we just enjoy being 5-2 for a minute[/quote] We should be able to, and I'm as guilty of this as anybody. 5-2 and in 1st place and 2-0 in division. Its nice. Its niiiiicccceee! |
Re: Giants Postgame
Apologies for the complaining, but it’s def the elephant in the room. And the level of play is disappointing at this point in the season.
I don’t think trading for a wr is the answer...maybe it would help, but I have my doubts. I think it’s worth talking about. Thank god for AP...where would we be without him? Seriously |
Re: Giants Postgame
Winning ugly is the name of the game for the 18 Skins. I'll take it.

The thing with Smith is it's fine now cause we're 5-2. But you simply can not and will continue to win like this. Eventually you will have make more plays on offense. If we were 2-5 let's say his job would be in serious trouble. |

The flip side of this is the defense is dominating enough to let Alex work his way up to where he needs to be. And he just doesn't turn the ball over. Great D and no turnovers will play. Obviously offense needs to be better, and I did my yelling about this in gameday thread, but no turnovers is huge. |
Re: Giants Postgame
This is alex Smith guys, nothing we didn't already know but I was pumped getting a guy that WINS and doesn't make bad mistakes.

Re: Giants Postgame
No matter what else, Alex Smith hustles. If he hadn't, AP's fumble would have been returned for a TD and the ballgame would have been very different.
|
Re: Giants Postgame
If we play D like this we will be just fine. Let's see if we make a move for a WR too.

Re: Giants Postgame
Defense, Peterson, Offensive line and punter Tress 'no seas tan' Way. Awesome job. Game ball to them all. Great win.
We need to temper this win with a dose of reality so we are not terribly upset when we play a real team. We saw what happens when we play against a real QB, our offense can not keep up. Hopefully Gruden and Smith have developed more chemistry while we played these weaker teams. Atlanta next week will be a better test to see where we are. Their offense is good, their defense is inconsistent and not very stout. Looking forward to game. |
Re: Giants Postgame
If it wasn’t for the defense, OL and Peterson we would be fucked, that sums up the season.

I'll have to go back and rewatch that play now. Alex is clearly a leader. His teammates love him. That's a big deal in football, and especially at QB. He has a lot of winning qualities. If or when, depending about how you feel about him (I'm on the when side), we can be very good. I'd like to trade for D. Thomas from Denver if the price is right. Not blaming WRS for our overall struggles, but I've always been a fan of his, and I think he makes us better. Or bring back Garcon. Love that guy. |
Re: Giants Postgame
How quickly people forget the awful QB play the Redskins had the last time they played the Giants at home.
Anyway, the Giants have always had the Redskins number when playing in New York. We got a W, and yes we have a lot of issues to resolve. But a 3-game winning streak is a huge for this team. |

Just cause Smith didn't turn it over that is good QB play for you? lol. That kind of QB play will beat bad to average teams w/ a good d and running game. I will certainly take it against Dallas and NY, but it will never beat a team like the Saints and probably not Atlanta. |

Next week Alex needs to be ready to throw...matty ice coming off a bye with those receivers? Defense will be giving up some points folks |

It wasn't pretty, but it was better than 158 yds and 3 INTs. Yes, QB plays wasn't good, but people are talking about like we fucking lost the game. Just trying to make a point, that it is ridiculous the way people are reacting. |

Agreed. The only way you can beat Atlanta is by keeping Matty Ice and those receivers off the field. |
