Montez Sweat
It just bothered me that we had one for Terry McLaurin before we had one for Montez Sweat.
I loved the trade up to get him, I am very excited we got him at 26. |

I looked at a ranking on CBS sports and they had him as #8 on a best player over all list. |
Re: Montez Sweat
His addition makes our front seven VERY Strong. I'm pumped to have him on the squad. I think our D will win us some games next year.

Re: Montez Sweat
Has the potential to be a BEAST.
|
Re: Montez Sweat
This is a great pickup. He fills the hole left by Preston Smith leaving and is a big improvement over Smith. He and Kerrigan will be excellent pass-rushing bookends! We'll finally have a solid DL and a real pass rush without having to blitz a lot.

ICYMI. . . . there were rumors of a medical issue |

False rumors of a heart issue which were later refuted by the Redskin's medical staff and an expert brought it. This will be the best pass rush that we have in two decades. I was never that impressed by Preston Smith and he got a FA contract that pays him WAY more than he's worth! |

Smith didn't leave a hole, he was the hole for us. Smith was a stupid signing by GB and letting Smith go then drafting Sweat was a very smart move by the Skins. |

I was going to say the same thing. Smith is One dimensional one trick pony. Which brings me to Montez Sweat, is he any better at stopping the run and setting the edge? We know he can rush the passer..but.... |

Good call, will we get a comp pick for letting Smith walk? $13M/year for about 6 sacks/year... Reminds me of the Browns signing of Paul Kruger, should work out just about as well for the Packers. |
Re: Montez Sweat
I’m pretty excited to see Sweat suit up this year and completely solidify our D line. The only thing that scares me about him was never the heart rumors. It was the fact that he was kicked off the Michigan St team a couple years back. Yes he got his act together and played amazing the last couple years. He was young said he has matured since then. But I’m nervous for him cause he’s finally getting a nice paycheck so he has more freedom. I’m just afraid his old ways are going to catch back up with him.
I haven’t been able to find out any further details on his “breaking team rules” from back then so I could be nothing really. Does anybody know more on what happened? |
Re: Montez Sweat
Man, I'm fired up about this guy. Pass rush ability is what we all want, and its where he'll stake his claim, but he also scores high on setting the edge on the run game. We hit this out of the park getting him at 26.
Kerrigan, Sweat, Allen, Payne, Ioaniddis crashing the pocket is sexy. And they are all strong against the run game too. Front 7 is gonna be a top 5ish unit (assuming health). |

Here is Sweats Wallpaper if anyone wants it.

Nothing changes a defense like a quality speed rusher coming off the blind side. nothing

Second most important player on the team next to quarterback. |

I'd argue that LT is the 2nd and Edge / CB right behind those 2. Sweat adds a great dimension to an already very good Defensive front. If The Offense can just manage a consistent 23 PPG, we should win 8-10 games |

I dont wanna get all drunk on kool aid, but we have the makings of a nasty ass defense with Sweat, Foster, Nicholson, all ready to go. Our front 7 should be nasty AF. Guice, Haskins, Scherff is back. Love could be a big x factor. McLaurin. Reed healthy? We really do have the makings of what could be a solid team. Gruden is running out of excuses. |
Re: Montez Sweat
Sweat is a big upgrade at a critical position. He balances Kerrigan on the other side. We will have one of the best DL in the NFL. From one of the worst stopping the run, to near the first in just 3 years. We'll also have natural QB pressure without having to blitz very often.
