How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
It’s just days or a few weeks before Greg Manusky is fired as the FIRST sacrificial lamb of the 2019 Redskins season. But certainly not the last.
How long before he is gone and who replaces him? 1. Day after another Bears loss, another 30+ point game against us and no QB pressure or sacks. 2. Replacement is from within; Tomsula who at least is a fire-breathing coach who still cares. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wish tomorrow

Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Hopefully he gets fired soon. Not sure about promoting Tomsula, his head coaching stint was a disaster in San Francisco. Strangely enough he was way too soft on players. Maybe he deserves one more shot at a promotion, or he could be one of those guys that are better suited to be a position coach.

He was DL coach before becoming interim HC then being hired as HC, players loved him. |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Just because players loved him does not mean he's a good coach.
If they promoted him to coordinator I wouldn't have a problem but he obviously wasn't cut out to run an entire team. I think you can only move on from Manusky if the season is a lost cause. A 1-4 or 0-5 start with the current pace of giving up 30 a week would probably work. If we manage to pull it together and win a couple then you'd definitely have to wait until the 2nd half of the season. It's still too early to make any judgements. |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
We’ve all talked ourselves into believing this defense was something special and that it’s Manusky’s fault when they fail. It’s time to consider the lack of talent. The secondary is average at best. Every time Norman gets beat one-on-one, it’s said that a safety blew an assignment. But the fact is that Norman can’t cover anyone one-on-one, which is something you kinda sorta need a corner to do once in a while. Giants fans will tell you that for every running play Landon Collins blows up, he whiffs on an assignment. Our linebacking corps is about as bad as it gets in the NFL: Kerrigan is very good, very solid and dependable. But after that the corps is a joke. A bunch of unproven rookies and cast-off free agents. If you want to make the case that the d-line is impressive because of Payne and Allen, fine. But neither has proven to be elite at this point. So at best with have three above-average players. Hooray. There’s little reason to think that a top notch defensive coordinator could make this defense any better than average, and that’s a stretch.
|
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
The problem with waiting on Manusky is that the defense is not improving with him there. Player talent is being wasted. Rookies like Sweat aren’t being taught how to play well and help win.
Eventually the season gets away from you and players give up. I just don’t think there is any benefit to waiting. They almost fired him last year and look how the defense is doing? Pulling the offense down the tubes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
I think one point is that players leave the ‘skins and then do well elsewhere. Preston Smith just had a good game - luck or better use in a defensive scheme.
We have three #1 draft picks in our DL. Either we drafted terribly or they are being misused. We have gone from a middling defense last year to the bottom of the NFL in these first games. Instead of hoping for Manusky to improve perhaps the best move is to try one of the other coaches with experience and see if they can turn things around . Ultimately the Redskins need to try to entice top DC talent with money, freedom (from interference by BA and Snyder) and a new HC. In the meantime we need a better coach on defense. Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
I bashed Preston all year but it sure seems like this schemes first priority is to hold the edge not rush the passer. The one pass rush I did see was Kerrigan 20 yards behind the QB.
The Redskins are tied for 3rd worst in sacks right now. You can't win without rushing the passer. |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Manusky is in over his head, and why is Ryan here??? get em both outta here.
|
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
There is no pass rush. QB’s have time to pick this defense apart and will continue to do so. We’re going to see 30+ point games and QB padding their stats until Manusky changes his schemes or gets replaced.
I’m worried that even when Allen comes back it won’t get better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Fire him now. Zero excuses. His defense would lose to the fuckng Giants.

Bad news for you: Ryan is here to take over as D coordinator when Manusky is fired. |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Not soon enough the D is garbage and someone needs to answer for it

Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
4 1st Rounders and 2 big FA acquisitions in Norman and Landon Collins ... we sunk well more than 50% of our resources on this side of the ball. They need to be our strength.
How often are we stunting or delayed stunts or overloads? Seems like we rush 4 straight ahead. Ryan does his outside speed rush which gets him his 15 sacks a year (4 of them coming in 1 game against an emergency starter). |

Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Let me tell y'all how little the Redskins brass thinks of Manuski....he was sitting on interviews for the DC position after last season....obviously that Super Bowl ring that Manuski got as a player on the 1991 team holds no weight whatsoever...
|
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
None of the coaches on the defensive staff have a good record as a DC. Tomsula has not been a DC in the NFL. Horton, Ryan and Manusky have been.
Horton: 6 seasons as a DC, 1 season as a top 10 in either points or yards (1 of 12) Ryan: 12 seasons as a DC, 3 times as a top 10 in either points or yards (3 of 24) 1 year as top 10 in both (1 of 12) Manusky: 12 seasons as a DC, 2 times as a top 10 in either points or yards (2 of 24) Normally I dont care about yards as a defensive stat compared to points, but here it shows that no matter how you cut it the three coordinators on staff have never been good in comparison to their peers. Tomsula is the only guy on staff who should be considered to get a shot. Note: I try not to vilify (he is garbage!) a coach or player for performance as they are in the arena and we are not. Their performance speaks for itself, and their history combined really shows they have little real chance of success. |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
I could realistically see a change if, for a third consecutive week, the defense surrenders >400 total yds and/or 30 pts against the Bears.

We have some fine players, and if you plugged them into the Patriots system, they’d be winners. Of course Manusky should be fired to send the message that people will be held accountable. Problem is, that message isn’t taken seriously when that slick pile of dogshit president isn’t also held accountable. Plus losers like to surround themselves with other losers, so it’s a never-ending circus even when people are fired. |

If they give up that to Mitch and that shitty offense then the whole staff needs to be out Tuesday morning |

The main problem replacing Manusky is that NO ONE of QUALITY will come here to replace him. Why? The team is one of the bottom five worst teams in the NFL. The HC will be fired in 14 games. The GM is not respected in the NFL, and is widely considered a Snyder lackey. The owner is widely considered to be meddling-either directly or through BA and one of the worst owners in the NFL. We’ll have to hire from within, Tomsula, who never has been a DC. He could do no worse than Manusky. We have good players but they are poorly led. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
He needs to be gone ASAP. Loved Manusky as a player, but he's terrible as a DC.
Get Ron Rivera in here next year. I have a feeling Carolina may part with him by the end of this season, and Ron could come in and revamp the defense and hopefully the team as a whole. |

Im not sure our team and the way its done can ever truly be a destination for any coach or coodinators of quality. Fire jay? Fine...who is coming here? Fire manusky? Great, lets just hire williams or bowles….oh right.. I personally have thought Manusky was a terrible coaching decision from the get go, he runs high school schemes and cant seem to light a fire or inspire any of his players. Washington is where careers come to die, or people get drafted and hope to leave to do better. We are the hunger games of the nfl |

FA come here to get over-paid and then .....coast. Besides all the massive FA blunders the Redskins have made since Snyder bought the team, I really trying to think of who has really earned their FA money.
I think both DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garçon both earned there paycheck. But for every one of them there are 2-3 total FA duds. Part of the problem is that the Redskins are always pushing the narrative that the team is just ONE PLAYER AWAY from from getting to the next level. The Redskins have had a poor run under Snyder and when they do have good players there often is no depth. The team is a mile wide and an inch deep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Anybody notice how Todd Bowles has completely turned around the Tampa Bay defense in a matter of 6 months? They have much less talent and are ballin.

I think Gruden is praying he gets fired sooner rather than later so he can get as far away from BA and DS as he can get. |

Dan Snyder needs to explain to the fans why Bruce Allen is with this franchise in any capacity. |

That's not a plan that's a prayer. This organization needs to be knocked down and built up with a new culture that is based on winning football games rather than selling fake waiting lists, merchandise, and alumni games. Unfortunately that isnt happening with the current ownership. |

He's with the organization because his last name is Allen and his father was George. DS probably figures he doesn't need to explain the obvious. |

Just cause you have 1st rounders on your defense doesn't mean they're any good. All it means is they were good in college. Plenty of 1st round players turn out to suck or just be so so...

Re: How Long Until Manusky is Fired & Replacement?
Michael Lombardi was on the fan the other day, and I highly recommend it to anyone, as Lombardi goes in-depth on what he feels is wrong with the franchise. Most of it is gripes that we all have like Dan and Bruce, but in short he points out that culture goes such a long way in determine how successful organizations are in the long run. Again, this might seem to be common sense stuff to most of us here, but it is interesting to listen to.
https://thefandc.radio.com/dan-snyder-failure-build-culture-killing-redskins He also mentions like we do here, that asking for anyone to be fired right now is foolish because at the end of the day, with Bruce still here, who is Dan going to be able to get to come here and work for him. |

But his last point about bringing in Dabo Sweeney to establish a culture I don't like. Just read an SI article about the culture Sweeney established at Clemson which basically revolves around faith and God, and he likes players that have a personal relationship with God, and I really don't think that would work in a pro locker room. I liked his point about the conditioning though. And there's no way to confirm it now but if Jay Gruden feels like he's ready to be fired I don't blame him for wanting out. |
