I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
Positives: McLaurin and playing on Thursday night. Get that L out of the way early in the week so I don't even have to think about wasting a Sunday on them.
Negatives: Moreau and Norman are so fucking terrible. Starting Case Keenum next Sunday. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
Immediate thoughts -
Fuck Bruce Allen. Moreau is a JAG, who only gets reps because we had to trade Fuller to get Alex Smith, when we probably could've traded for Keenum on the cheap because the Vikings got Cousins. Norman - it boggles my mind that between him and Collins we have $150 mil tied up between the two and neither are playmakers. Collins makes tackles, but for the money we pay him he needs to be forcing turnovers. Norman, idk if he's playing like this because he's hurt, but if he can't be an effective corner because he's hurt then get his ass out of the game. Two poor FA contracts handed out by this FO, once again reflecting poorly on Bruce. Haskins - watch this video of his postgame presser and tell me he looks the slightest bit confident that he knows what he's doing. You guys are delusional, thinking that a rookie qb who can't set his feet, needs to rework his throwing motion, can't scan the field, can't diag pre-snap coverage, lacks pocket awareness and probably knows 1/10 of the playbook will get better taking his lumps on the field. This defense - So we held them to 19 points. Whoop-de-fucking-do. We also gave their punter a night off because he never had to punt. The thing that stands out to me is the glaring lack of a dominant middle linebacker. We haven't had one since Fletcher left, and Fletcher left probably 2 years too late. The defense has so much room for improvement. And I love Dunbar but god damn he can't stay healthy. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
You hold a hot offense to 19 at home...defense did it’s job.
Situational football strategy with the offense is terrible. Red zone offense was terrible. Haskins comes in with a clean pocket, wide open wr with a basic, easy throw and can’t even make it. Instead throws an interception. I have no faith in him or this organization in coaching him. So far he’s been a terrible draft pick |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
Both first round picks are a bust

Sweat doing nothing and Preston Smith is now a pro bowler. Our coaching staff is easily the worst in the league, paired with garbage GM...fuck this team and everyone involved in the franchise. Imo we need to fire everyone...and rebuild the franchise and it’s structure. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
9 straight quarters without a TD...the offense has gotten worse since Jay has left. So Kevin OConnell isn't impressing
|
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
Our offense is too bad to be this conservative. I really hope that Callahan and O'Connell research a concept called the forward pass. In terms of defense giving up 19 points isn't really something to be too happy about. The Vikings played conservatively on offense and we still couldn't stop them. Every drive of theirs minus the two minute warning before the half was intended to run time off the clock and not put players in jeopardy by being aggressive.
The last two games the defense has given up a total of 28 points, which is great compared to where they were at the beginning of the year, but both of the teams we played knew how to do just enough to win and play conservatively. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
I think what pains me most is that we’re down to hating on players, especially young ones. Some of them may be true NFL busts, but we’ll never know in this organization, because there is no player development and no coaching.
His demeanor in the post-game press conference was absolutely shocking. Someone who talks like that behind a podium does not deserve to even be a backup QB in this league. If he is like this in front of the cameras, how bad is he when no one is watching and he's just around the other players and coaches. This completely jives with all the reports about how he wasn't putting the work in, not showing interest in meetings, not paying attention, not studying or preparing. I'm not going to definitively say that Haskins will be a good starting QB.... but the changes of it ever happening are less than 1%. He has displayed a complete lack of confidence and leadership. I'm not even remotely interested in seeing Haskins play this year or next. If we have a top 3 pick, we need to spend it on a QB. |

+1 The old rule was give it 3 years to judge a draft pick, for good reason. Not everybody can walk into the league and dominate from day one. Nobody gets that luxury around here, because guys want to see instant results to figure out if we need to get a replacement next year. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
Haskins attitude turned me off day one .. entitled is the word that comes to mind.. another busted pick! This front office is so bad .. Haskins should have been a mid round development type pick not the number 15 !

Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
I guess Portis and other ex-players were right when they voiced their concerns about the fan base quickly turning on Haskins.
Dude hasn't had a real shot yet. He's barely played. He hasn't had a full week of getting 100% of the snaps as the starter. Chill. |

They realized he was not a good pick at 15 from the outset. And Haskins' performance in camp, in practice, in meetings, in games, and in the press conference has only confirmed that our opinions of him were correct. Bottom line - Haskins has done nothing to prove he's worthy of any level of support or respect. If he wants that support, he needs to EARN it like everyone else. |

Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
We have played 8 games, and Haskins has only played in parts of 2. The bust talk this early is kinda insane to me. He is a young kid with limited experience. Yes, Case is better now, but he isn't good enough to lead us to wins and the season is over. Time to let Haskins play the rest of the season.
Sweat is learning how to rush the passer against pro tackles. Give the kid sometime. Not all rookies are going to come in guns a blazing. Give the kids a chance. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
As far as saying both Haskins and Sweat being busts, it’s way too early to judge them. I bet Sweat thrives under a new DC like Preston. Haskins is still learning and has a ways to go.

We all know that most of the media reporting Haskins stories had little to no football experiences. The only part of whole Haskins story that has been consistent is the fact that Haskins is still learning how to play QB, which is to be expected for someone who started less than 15 games in college. We haven't seen Haskins work in person so we really need to step back and acknowledge the fact that we do not know full story. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
I think there is some projection going on with Haskins. He needs some awareness on this...people see him as another Danny draft pick and are angry about Dan slow destruction of the franchise.
its unfortunate. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
On a positive note Matty I is straight beasting this season. He's literally unblockable at times.

I do agree with you on this take. I've stated on numerous occasions that I'm all about giving Haskins (and even Sweat) time to mature. My point is I believe Haskins may need to sit the remainder of the season because there seem to be quite a few holes in his game and he could potentially pick up (or continue) bad habits if he sees too much time on the field this season. I still believe any rookie deserves, at the least, 3 years before making a judgement on the player. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
Let haskins play the rest of the year and develop, otherwise what.... wait til the offseason or the last 3 games that dont matter to see if he's the guy? stupid. And no, he hasnt gotten a fair shot and i will reserve judgement until he does. Plenty of good qbs have rough rookie YEARS - and we're talking about 4 fucking quarters. ppl need to chill.
love the d line, hate the d coordinator. cant even count the performance against SF ... last night was good at best. edit: i am dissapointed in Sweat tho. He's either not being coached up, isnt actually as physically gifted as we were led to believe, or he just doesnt care |

You would think he would be standing up listening to whats being done and following the plays. If I'm correct I have seen back ups wearing head phones following what is going on between everyone. BTW what happen to Keenum? I went out fishing durn half time and got back in the house just as we punted the ball away at the beginning of the 2nd half. |

The demeanor is probably disappointment which is actually good. Im sure he wants to succeed obviously. But man i could have made that pass. I want to think I’m overreacting but almost any other quarterback ever including rookies makes that pass. He also missed McLaurin streaking down the field for a sure td n checked down. I know he is inexperienced but he did play a full season at OSU for God’s sake. He shouldn’t be missing that bad or be that nervous at all really. He will start next week cus Keenum aint gonna. Ill keep my hopes up but what I saw last night is worrying. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
If they don't start Haskins @ Buffalo there are some serious issues with him IMO. Right now the tape doesn't lie, he's been bad and that's a nice way of putting it. The pass to Peterson should have been an INT and that was one of his first throws, he looks shook out there like Ramsey did when he was young, I still believe he can be a good QB but we have to know what we have going into the OS

Seriously enough with the best chance to win crap. Lol. This season is more than over. We are going to have a top 3 pick and need to know if we are looking for a quarterback. I think 8 games is enough to figure that out. We have to at least see flashes of good with the bad. If not and there is a quarterback with less question marks at 1-2-or 3 we have to strongly consider taking him. Seems to have worked for the Cards. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
I also think they look terrible. But at the same time, after the Buffalo game, the only team of the top 7 top defensive teams (based on points per game) they will NOT have played is Tennessee, with the 4th ranked defense. We will have played
(#1) New England (#2) San Francisco (#3) Buffalo (#5) Minnesota (#6) Chicago, and (#7) Dallas. Of course, they also played (#24) Philadelphia (#27) The Giants, and (#32) Miami. But maybe if they get some easier defenses the offense can get the confidence to get somewhat on track. |

Will be right back in it poised to win 7 in a row and hope to squeeze in at 8-8 |

When you have a-so-called..organisation that's rotted from the owner on down...this is what you get...I will say this once more-UNTIL DANIEL SNYDER LOOKS IN THE MIRROR AND ASKS HIMSELF-WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING TO MY TEAM AND THE FANS??? until that day comes-WE ARE DOOMED!!!

I feel like you're going for the shock value when every fan here already knows what the deal is. If you think Dan Snyder is going to have an overnight revelation on how to be a competent owner it's gonna be a long 4 decades for you. |
Re: I Don't Like That - Post Game Thread
Say all you want, the Defense had a solid game.
Yes they gave up yards, yes I vomited inside my mouth when they gave up that 3&19 with 3minutes to go in the game, yes they had a lucky turnover early in the game, yes Moreau looks completely lost out there... But. They made key stops all game long. That 4th and less than 1 stop was something we hadn't been able to do in a long time. The fact that the Vikings went for it in that situation speaks to the amount of (earned) disrespect this team is getting. They held to 19 points an offense that had scored 28+ on every opponents except the Bears and the Packers so far, and scored 38 points on the Eagles and 42 on the Lions the last 2 weeks. Bostic is playing very well Loved Payne making the 4th and 1 play Don't get the hate on Norman this week, he didn't get burnt and made some plays against the run Apke seems to be coming along nicely Rightly coached, this defense could carry any slightly above apathetic offense... |
