What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Season has been over for a couple weeks, but what do you want to get out of the rest of the season?
Honestly, not too many wins as I want to land Chase Young...but we can accomplish some goals as we look towards the offseason. 1. Extend the Oline. Im convinced more than ever, at the heart of winning teams is good Oline play. With Trent coming off the books, I would extend both Roullier and Schreff, both are having great seasons and corner stones in the interior. You want to help your QB? Get your house in order on the line. 2. Haskins growth at QB. Would like to see him obviously progress on the field and get a feel for game speed. 3. Guice needs to play and stay healthy. No more excuses for this guy...get out there a develop a rapport with your team. If he cant, Ill have a hard time guaranteeing him a spot next year, he will have to earn it. The days of excuses for injured players should be part of the new culture wave...get on the field or get out. 4. Is Trey Quinn producing? Nope, not close. Wow Apke is playing well! Give guys a shot to see what they have...tell Quinn to take a seat and give Harmon playing time...play P Rich at the slot where he had success in in Seattle. Apke playing well? Put him on the field and rotate Monte in packages. See if he can develop. Bostic been nice, but what can SDH and Cole do side by side? Evaluate. 5. Coaching staff should mix it up...O'Connell should take some chances and see if he can get more out of the offense. Defense, less complicated calls in the secondary, blitz the young guys, etc. |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I would like to see all of these things, but probably the biggest being what O'Connell can do with Haskins...problem is Callahan is handcuffing his playcalling abilities. Take the handcuffs off, nothing left to lose here...cut'm loose! Snyder should WANT to see what those 2 can do together.
|
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I agree with all your points, Chico. I especially want to see O'Connell to take full control of playcalling to see if he can exploit Haskins's strengths and mask his weaknesses. If Redskins FO is actually considering O'Connell as a head coach candidate then we need to see what he can do when he is in the control.

Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
All of the above except I want ZERO wins. Right now if the Redskins lose out they can pick no worse than 2nd. If it was me I would trade down from there for multiple pics as this team has many holes to fill. Unfortunately unless Snyder stays away from the draft board and Allen isn't sent packing, extra draft picks may be useless. I definitely agree to take the training wheels off of Haskins to see what we have. This conservative vanilla offense isn't going to beat anyone as we don't have the 2000 Baltimore Raven defense. Also need to see if another QB should be drafted, even a later round project one.
|
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I think the second half is going to be much better than the 1st. Haskins starting, Guice, Thompson, Nicholson, Davis and others are coming back from injury which should help.
|
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
If I had to choose one thing it is Haskins to show enough improvement that it eliminates talk of drafting a QB next draft.

I wish we would have done a Dolphins purge |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I want to see all L's. That is the best chance of Dan cleaning house.
Still lukewarm on Haskins. I want to see him do things comparable to Jones. Make plays but I expect some turnovers. Be mature, act like you're the CEO of the team, good body language, be mentally ready, be a leader, be accurate and stop having bad mechanics. Guice? At this point just finish a game w/out an injury. Low expectations. Get the ball more to McLaurin, Harmon and Sims. The Sims stuff baffles me how they can't get the ball to him in the passing game and not the jet sweep bullshit that people are sitting on. Can this staff actually run an NFL offense w/ creativity and not be predictable? I have no hope for Manusky, he just can't coach an NFL defense. |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Play all the rookies and young players. See what they have. Give Harmon or Steve Sims real play time to see what they have.
The new HC will most likely be dumping a lot of high cap cost players like Richardson, Norman, etc. Put in the backups to see what they. See if there are any players out there on waivers who could fill obvious holes like CB, OT (both sides). Let O’Connell call the game!! Just like in the Gruden era, O’Connell is being handicapped by Callahan’s Uber-conservative, run-first. We can’t tell how good O’Connell is at play-calling because of this hard oversight. Let Haskins open up the playbook (at least what he knows) and see how BOTH can do together Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Haaaaaaaaaaa..season was over after the Eagles game, but I just wanna see Haskins improve week to week and maybe some D-E-F-E-N-S-E?????
|
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I just want to see a glimmer of hope from Haskins. Even at the expense of dropping in the draft if it means Haskins is playing well, bring it on. It would be really nice if we see that we have something in the Haskins, Guice, and McLaurin trio.

Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Fabian Moreau - have we seen enough of him? He is playing a ton of snaps this season but seems nonexistent. Last 4 games, hes played 73%, 92%, 98% and 81% of the D snaps.
I guess its kinda good you dont hear his name for getting torched left and right but idk ... was hoping for more from him, hoping for a Breeland 2.0 (a servicable starter). Hes still young, his cap hit next year is just below 1M so he is still very affordable. |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I can see clearly now.....that Bruce Allen sucks
|
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Obviously, a new front office. And lose every game so the new staff can have a very high pick.
Clean house of big contracts... Norman, Reed, Davis, etc. Then start over. |

I like to think visiting Redskins Park is like visiting a retirement home, the smell of losing lingers in the air and it bothers everyone who works there. |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
One of the problems is Bill C offense does not fit Haskins. Bill C is a west coast guy and that does not fit what Haskins does best. O'Connell needs to work with Haskins strength. We need to sprinkle in Guice in the screen game. A bright spot it Flowers, he is better than I thought he would.
At the end of the year, we need to cut P-Rich, Norman, Davis, Reed, and Chris T. |

Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I agree with some of the other posts about seeing what the young guys can do - Haskins, Guice and McLaurin in particular. We could have the makings of a productive "core group" on offense if these three turn out OK. Lose the rest of the games this year, so we can draft some solid players around them (if they look good) and fill some holes on D.

Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
If we lose the rest i want it to be because Haskins clearly is awful, and we need to start over with a coach who gets to choose his own qb and clean house.
If Haskins puts good game improvement, on tape, then I want wins because losing should never be the goal and no matter how many games we win we will still have a top 10 pick to get our left tackle. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

It is funny, because every year we always wish for change and a coach who can clean house, but at the end of the day, we NEVER get a coach that has full authority and who can hire and fire at will. It is always guys that Dan and Bruce pick. And that's how its going to be again next season. Bruce and Dan will hire the staff and then pick their head coach. |

J-E-T-S....lol
Damn shame.....we going to lose this game too.....the days are counting down for Manuski.... |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
WR - Richardson is hurt, but don’t play him even if he recovers. He’ll be dumped by the new HC. Another guy I want to ride pine is Terry Quinn. He’s been a huge disappointment. Play McLaurin , HARMON and then try Steve Sims, Cam Sims to see how they do by playing consistently. Steve Sims has had a few big plays but can be perform as a first team WR? Like to see if Cam Sims can improve over the TC drops.
Generally bring in every young player and play them over the vets. Many of the vets have given up now, so the rookies will inject some vigor in the team and may improve with playing. If the new HC has a brain he will dump all the overpaid, under-performing vets. It’s time to go young. I don’t care if the newbies blow some plays, they can’t do worse than the vets in there. Dan and Bruce interview process:
1. Will you do whatever we say and cut your own nuts off? Yes/No If the answer is no, the interview is over. The rest of the interview is a sham too if you lie and say yes to # 1. |

Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Let O’Connell run the offense as he wants. If he is actually calling this predictable and run heavy offensive scheme then fire him. I think that of the dozen or so first down plays we had, we ran on all but one or two. Can O’Connell ever run play-action plays, like the 99% of the rest of the NFL? Conversely, why are we always passing on third down?
Also, why don’t we go for broke on a long distance pass play more often? Occasionally, if you don’t connect on the pass, you get a pass interference play. I think we had just one long pass the whole game (over-thrown). Either O’Connell sucks as a play-caller or Callahan does. I think it’s Callahan’s interference that is causing these problems but I’m not sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
I agree with Warthogs assessment of Callahan/Kevin O's offense. Aside from that, I'm seeing what I was hoping to see. That this team may have quit on Gruden but that they can bounce back and self motivate. That despite a miserable start, they can find footing and be competitive. That Haskins is raw but is coachable. That McLaurin and Harmon are the steals that I thought they were. That they can demonstrate to perspective head coaches that this team is capable of being successful with the right leadership. That Dan Snyder is being objective about where this team is and where it can go if he is willing to move on from Bruce Allen.

Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Ending up in position to draft LT Andrew Thomas would be a good spot to be in.
This is video of every snap of the Georgia offensive line vs the Alabama defensive line in the 2018 SEC Championship game. Andrew Thomas pushes Quinnen Williams around as well as anybody possibly could. Very technically sound. [YT]NufahhvgdfU[/YT] |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
If we come out of the draft with Andrew Thomas or Chase Young, the draft is a win to me.

What do people say about this graphic:
To me, our defense would be so much better with a new DC, that we should be looking at OT or QB not Young regardless of his projected talent. |

But Kerrigan is 31 and I promise our sack rate won't stay in this high position if we don't replace him with a strong rusher sometime soon. He's got probably two good years left, even giving him the benefit of the doubt on this year's performance. I wouldn't pass up Chase Young under the guise that we're set at pass rusher for the foreseeable future. |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
That said I think it's easier to get a strong pass rusher than it is to get a LT like Andrew Thomas. We might not get a Chase Young with our 2021 first rounder, but Kerrigan was a mid-first rounder, Sweat dropped down to the bottom. You can get edge rushers, not that it's easy or that any of them will be as good as Chase Young.
But I can't think of as many examples of stud LTs being plucked from back end of round 1. It's a scarcity issue and a huge need for us. |

Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
Can't believe I'm saying this, but resigning Flowers should be a huge priority. He has solidified the LG spot in a badly needed way.
+1 on the LT also being a priority too. Penn is solid but I saw a couple plays where he got beaten easily back there. Haskins being slow with his progressions doesn't help either. |
Re: What do you want to see the rest of the Year?
After hearing all the talk of how Haskins is a cant miss and steal of the draft you will have to excuse me for not buying into the hype if ANY college kid coming into the NFL .. The list is long of the players who were gonna dominate at the next level.. I’m for trading down and getting more and more picks ... look at Scary Terry was a he a first round? In fact we gave a lot of our better players who were not top picks..
