This is truly insane and heartbreaking.

Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
Shits absolutely crazy. Here's your latest reminder to try and enjoy your days on earth, because nobody knows how it's going to end.
Condolences to his family, imagine thinking you have decades left to enjoy your world-famous dad being retired and one day that dream vanishes in an instant. |
Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
Rest in Peace, Kobe. I have always thought helicopters and small planes were really dangerous.

And ATVs. ;)

Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
So cliche, but it puts things in perspective. It just doesn't seem possible. Was just talking about him with my buddies the other day.
RIP. Just terrible. |
Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
I was watching this classic commercial like two days ago and it made me think about how Kobe brought his A game to everything. This shit was as funny as any comedic skit I've watched. And Jalen Rose sold it perfectly too.

Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
He and his 13 year old daughter died in the crash as well as 2 others and the pilot. As was said, it is a reminder how fleeting this life is but also of how much can be done in that life.

Not a big basketball fan but I will admit to being very upset when I heard this today. Prayers for Kobe and his daughter and their family.

Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
this absolutely sucks...always couldn't stand the Lakers, but he is a legend.
I would put money on the Lakers winning the title this year. |

I think he was socially awkward around women, he was like 20 when he hooked up with his wife who was 16 at the time and proposed to her when she was still under age and in High School. The age of consent in California is 18. What rich famous 20 year old dude hooks up with a High School girl? That is kind of strange. |
Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
Nobody has forgotten about it, it’s all part of his legacy. But typically when someone dies you want to remember the good over the bad.

No, just not the right time to discuss it. |
Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
Hope we can all make impacts on some people's lives. Live and love well.

Idk why we can't acknowledge it. On one hand, after reading up on it I lean towards believing the girl. The denial at first, then changing his story to say it was consensual, combined with the vaginal trauma makes me believe he tried to use his status to get laid and didn't back down when she didn't want to. On the other hand, he turned an entire generation of kids worldwide into basketball fans, and inspired people with his work ethic and success. I can respect his accomplishments while still conceding he did one of the most despicable things you can do as a person. The hero worship is still a little overboard though. |

I am sad he passed away at a young age but was I balling my eyes out; no. We really really don't know these people other then what we see on TV of them. Last year i sat in as a juror on a rape case, rape is a horrible act that creates mountains of shock waves through out the victims lives. Maybe karma caught up to him on that helicopter ride. |

Why? What if it was your daughter or wife he raped? |
Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
A little over the top to say he deserved to die.
I've read several articles since Sunday that touched on the rape allegation... so this idea that nobody is talking about it is false. |

With that said there are zero convicted rapist that if they had died I be super sad about. |

The response of faux outrage over the sexual assault was overboard. And the threatening to kill the reporter response by some, obviously overboard. I disagree with the WP suspending the reporter but I also disagree of her personal attack (this simply wasn't just a share of a story, she's not innocent, its an attacking smear while the family is morning) at the time of the death. Im not gonna get into the whole WP being trash...but it certainly is tho, this is further indication of it. |

Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
I read somewhere there are between 17-30 helicopter crashes yearly this century. That is way too many.

Kobe and his wife agreed to never fly in a helicopter together. I will just stick to walking. |
Re: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
I actually knew a plane crash survivor. The step father of an employee lost power in a small Cessna and landed in a large vacant lot, but the plane flipped due to the uneven ground he landed on. Both legs were badly broken and he was still using a wheelchair when I met him almost a year after the accident. Even after that he felt small planes were safe as you only need a space the size of a football field to land one in. He said he would fly again after his legs got good enough to walk more than a couple steps. I think the guy was nuts, he got lucky once, why push it?

So now Kobe's widow is suing. Something about that rubs me wrong. Everyone knows helicopters are inherently dangerous. She is probably worth 1/2 billion dollars, now she is even suing the pilot's next of kin. |
