Are you kidding me? Buy up all the legacy Redskins fan gear TODAY. Take your gently used fan gear as well.
Vacuum seal all of it.......put it in a weatherproof storage bin. In 15 years or more........ SELL THAT SHIT AND RETIRE! |

Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
ABSOLUTELY!
I have a Skins plate on the front of my car and a frame around the license plate on the back. Staying put...watch the car get vandalized by an actual racist. I also am buying more Redskins merch this week. Bought a new beanie cap for winter to replace the one my wife accidentally donated to a coat drive last year and am shopping for a Sean Taylor jersey while I can still get one. I'm also eyeing up a 4-foot long championship banner for their three Super Bowls. :D Yes, I'll keep wearing and I'll buy more while I can too. And YES, you're letting me in the stadium in Redskins gear. |

I'm only going to wear my Redskins gear to formal venues such as The Kennedy Center, The Metropolitan Opera, and The White House.
|
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
I haven't worn too much Redskins stuff the past couple of years just because they've been such an embarrassment on the field. So I may just pack things away for now. I do have some hats I like but that's about it.

Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
Looking at Terry McLaurin jerseys for my son right now. I think I'll go with the throwback, he loves those uniforms.
I know better than to buy a QB's merch (thanks RG3, Kirk...). My son wears his Kerrigan jersey but I have the feeling Ryan might only have a year or two left. Terry should be here for a long time hopefully. |

If between now and the start of the 2021 season, they announce that any gear depicting any Native American Imagery is prohibited at FedEx field, then what do you do? Forget the idea of sneaking it in or wearing layers and then exposing it once you are in your seat. Obviously, many would try that. I am saying, they tell you you cannot enter the stadium wearing it and that you can be ejected if found wearing it inside the stadium? |

Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
I have some gear I wear around the house doing yard work. Through a winter coat I had for 10 yrs that I don't wear (it is warm but useless when wet so not really an effective winter coat) so I sold it on ebay last week for $80 that was a worthwhile sale will put it towards new team gear. I had an all black Skins hat that I wore religiously but I never wear it outside my house. Mostly because I have hated having to own Snyder in public in Ravens country. He literally has worn me down having to answer questions about his actions. However, I won't wear my Skins gear out in public anymore. In addition to having to own Snyder I had an interaction in Vermont with a group of Native Americans at township festival about 5 years ago where we had a great dialogue but since then I decided to respect the feelings of my brothers.

Never had any pitching aside from Guidry. Not a Yankees fan. Had Steinbrenner not been suspended in early 90s, that late 90s dynasty would have never happened. |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
I will say my kids who are highly indifferent to the Skins going to school around Baltimore they watch the Ravens neither are really into watching the games I think it is just to talk to their friends in school but they really want to buy some new gear when the team is released.
I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s expansion era and remember grabbing gear of every new logo that came out at that time. |

Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
It won’t take long for “Redskins” to be primarily associated with the crap tenure of Snyder. There aren’t going to be many of us left who remember Gibbs 1.0, let alone Sonny v Billy, the brief Lombardi era, the clothesline tackles of Chris Hanburger. In some ways it’s good to retire the name before Snyder adds another 20 years of mediocrity to the Legacy.
I’ll hold on to my most treasured Skins gear, but I’m not going to parade it around as an f u to racial sensitivity. This is our football team, not some new Lost Cause. If football is eventually banned for being too violent, THEN I’ll parade my gear around, Skins, Wolves, Warriors, Whatevers. |

It's like those that continue flying confederate flags. I think they're mostly doing it as a FU to everyone. Just makes them look dumb. |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
To answer the question, yes. The evidence has always indicated Redskins is not offensive, unless one uses cheesy Western B movies as a source.
I see people wearing or displaying lots of things I personally do not care for. It's none of my business. Somehow I doubt the world will end. |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
I'll hang up the old logo in the closet, and every once in a while probably take it out and reminisce about my childhood fan days in the 80s and early 90s. To me that's how I'll look at the old stuff, a symbol of the greatness of the Gibbs era.
At the same time I'll look to turn the page and wear the new stuff, as soon as it's available, because I'm a fan of the team no matter what they're called, and I'll embrace the path forward. I'm a die-hard, there was never a chance I wouldn't hop on the bandwagon, no matter which road it goes down. |

Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
Why would I stop wearing Skins gear?
When I wear it now it’s a general fuck you, this is my team and fuck yours. And likewise it’s a salute to other Skins fans to say hey this is our team. The new stuff will probably be awesome, but the old stuff to me will gain even more importance in terms of fandom. I respect that more imo. If the underlying meaning of the question is...should you not wear Skins brand stuff. Fuck you and die is my answer and go cry some more about something as irrelevant as a sports team name. |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
There will be Redskins gear at the stadium FOREVER, I also predict HTTR will be sung in protest and remembrance too. Any attempt to stop it will only hurt the "new" team.
|
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
Ill still wear my hats with the skins logo. Still fly my logo flag out front.
Probably wont wear anything with "redskins" on it ... |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
All my shirts have the logo but don't actually say Redskins. I will keep rocking my gear. I'll buy new gear too. I'll wear either of them depending on the mood, the outfit, and the laundry situation.
Note - A small % of name changers that finally got their way due to the current climate in the country does not make everyone that wears a Redskins shirt now a racist. That makes no sense. If you ever wore a Skins shirt before, you can, with all due respect, STFU about me wearing my shirts still if I want to. You are not morally superior because you jumped on the bandwagon. |

Agreed!
Ill still wear my hats with the skins logo. Still fly my logo flag out front. You've supported the Redskins, paid the Redskins for merch...but don't want to wear their name? Sounds like someone who would wear a Glock shirt to look cool but refuses to actually own a gun. Take a stand on either side, don't sit on the fence. |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
A person can find the name redskins offensive but find the logo acceptable. It is not an either/or much like a person can be a fan of the Cleveland Indians not find that offensive but the caricature of Chief Wahoo obviously is.

Take a stand on either side, don't sit on the fence.
I used to passively support the name "redskins" touting the Wash Po survey. Last couple years I have looked into the term "redskins" and have come to my own opinion that the term was originally used by NA as a pseudo umbrella for discussion with the early colonialists. But over time, the term evolved into a slur. I think the logo, designed by Wetzel of the Blackfeet tribe, was done with respect. I view the name "redskins" as a slur when known racist George Marshall founded the team. This is my own personal opinion and thoughts that I have come to after reading a lot from both sides. I personally am not going to tell another person what to do or think. |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
Will I wear the old logo'd gear? Yes. Without any hesitation.
Will I sport the new stuff? Well ... that depends on what the wizard Danny Snyder decides to name the team, and what the stuff looks like. Will I root for the team still? Yeah ... I am really looking forward to seeing how this defense plays with actual COACHING. It could be truly special. |
Re: Will You Still Wear Your Skins Gear After?
The WP poll said only 10% of NA were offended by the name, the UC Berkeley study said it's closer to 50%. Even if you split the difference that's 30%. To me that's enough to say a change is justified.

The Washington Post study roughly matched the findings of earlier surveys done by Sports Illustrated and the Annenberg Foundation. The two periodicals have stellar reputations as does the latter non-profit. The UC Berkeley study used different methodology. Not surprising considered it likely had an agenda. The authors themselves admitted theirs was not a truly national sample while the others were. For details, you can glance at a not entirely sympathetic (to the Skins' name) article on today's National Review entitled Hail (and Farewell) to the Redskins. In any case, the 30% variance is dubious and does not even total one-third. But history shows that small, energized groups often win. It's all moot now. :) |
