what's wrong with gardner??
why do the skins want rid of rod..what i've seen he's a pretty good rec and he's getting better..tell me what i'm not seeing to get him out of dc . last year he was going in trade for owens ...know who???
|
I actually don't recall anyone in the skins organization saying they want to get rid of him. It's been media speculation: they signed Thrash, so they've got too many wideouts and someone has to go. The one with the most trade value (given they're not dealing Coles) is Gardner.
Now, some of us feel that he hasn't reached his potential. He's inconsistent, and he doesn't really know how to use his pretty serious size to dominate as a possession receiver. But NONE of this, as far as I know, comes from Gibbs or the FO. Plus, Gardener doesn't cost too much this year, so why not keep him and see if Gibbs can lite a fire under his ass? I kinda like him, but he's gotta take the next step! |
Basicly Gardner is the best receiver we have that we can also stand to lose. Therefore he's the one that might get us SOMETHING in a trade.
|
Also, last year it was rumored on ESPN that several teams inquired about Gardener around draft time
|
I think gardner is a decent reciever, but with the resigning of mccants and trading for thrash and gibbs praising jacobs, i think that its pretty clear that gardner will be traded sometime in the near future and whoever gets gardner will steal him from the skins for a 3rd or 4th round pick.
|
This is why I think we should deal him:
1) He's been known to get holding calls against him. Every week before games, coaching staffs get to talk to the refs. The teams express concerns about calls that should be made against the opposing team that the refs need to watch out for. I can almost guarantee 100% that each week, the Skins opponents tell the refs to watch out for #87 and holding. 2) He is an inconsistent receiver, IMO. He has dropped quite a few balls that absolutely drove me crazy. 3) He's in the final year of his contract, so we may as well get something for him if he's just gonna be let loose next year. 4) Ever heard him in an interview? Nuff said. (this is not really a performance based point...) WV - Wild and Wonderful, especially when they beat VT |
Thx Skins Fans Thats Why I Asked ..great Answers Go Skins

Not A Eers Fan.....go Herd

I don't know how many others live in the virginia area and watch comcast sportsnite but during their discussion about the thrash trade and mccants resigning, they mentioned the possibility of gardner being traded on draft day in a possible bigtime deal. I can't remember 100% or not but I think they even used the words "possible blockbuster." do u think they've been tipped off or just stirring the pot a bit? maybe the rumour of trading gardner and some of next years picks aren't too far of a stretch.

I know my Trotter + Gardner + Next year's first will go through! Come on Miami twins!!
|
I remember those CSN guys saying something a bit off the wall a few months ago. They are a small network (relatively) and go out on journalistic limbs to get viewers.
About WV, I work with a guy who's brother was on TV the last time those people stormed the field after a mountaineers loss. He was climbing the uprights and getting maced by police at the same time. Quite humorous. |

Yikes. That's quite a trade. Maybe if some lower picks were thrown in as well. |
I think a 3rd or 4th and a team would bite. Someone with a lot of holes to fill, no one seems to really agree with me, but that never stopped me before 8)
|
Are you crazy daseal??? YOUR SO STUPID!!! haha, just kidding around. That would be freaking awsome if we could pull out some type of deal to get Taylor and KW II here. Would we be able to sign both of them though?? I heard today our cap # as of right now is 1.5 million. I'm not sure what the Trotter trade could get us, but as of right now, we could proboly only afford to have one anwyays, wouldnt you think?
|
OMG! If Synder pulled that off and got both of them... I dont even know what to say, it would be nothing less that spectacular.
|
Id love to end our discussion about which one to draft by discussing how awesome our team is becuase we have both.

I'm not sure of the exact rules, but teams get cap help with rookies (something about a rookie cap separate from the main cap?) so the 1.5M may not apply. Also consider that Trotter and Gardners (admittedly not high) cap numbers vanish with a trade. If we manage a coup and can sign both, don't expect cap problems to get in the way. |
There are a thousand trade rumors circulating in Florida at the moment.
There is one particular trade rumor floating around the owners' meetings about a trade between the Skins and the Chargers involving the Skins getting the overall #1 pick from San Diego. Trotter and the #5 pick are involved. And there are other picks and players that are rumored to go both ways. This is all pure rumor and speculation. But if anyone hears that Robert Gallery is scheduled to visit Redskins Park, pay very close attention to what happens next... |
Noooooooooo. Enough already. Blockbuster or not, can we stop trading away picks?? Drafting good, young and cheap talent will pay dividends both today (hungry, talented players generally make good special teamers) and lay a foundation for when replacing players.
AND what do we want with the number 1 pick this year? Either Taylor or Winslow would fill a need and the consensus is that both will be available at our slot. Quite frankly, if we can drop a spot or two, and pick up another pick this year, I think that would be the best thing we could do. As for Gardner and Trotter, if we can trade em straight up for picks (at least a 3rd for Gardner and anything we can get for Trotter) - God bless'em. It just seems to me that the Skins tend to be a bit cavalier with their picks which (again, just to me) seems to be a bad long term plan. Okay, that's my two cents. |

He seems perfect for the Chargers. Gallery seems like a good choice for the Chargers as well, give them some protection |
If we trade for the #1 overall - I hope to hell that we turn around and sell it off to the highest bidder - someone who's all lovey dovey for Manning or Fitzgerald. We can get what we need at #5.

Actually, that makes more sense. I wouldn't be suprised if "blockbuster" meant a three team deal with players and picks flying all over the place. BTW - What date is the draft? Thanks |
Saturday April 24th is the first round.
|
Thanks GManc

Wow, Sportscurm. Keep us posted on the juiciest rumors! That will really keep the site hopping until draft day.
Looks to me like we don't need a QB or a WR, so maybe Gallery, but we've got a lot of beef there already. Still, it's a Gibbs/Bugel team. Interesting... |

Okay, I got one.
The fifth pick, Gardner, Trotter, and our Fifth rounder to San Diego for the top pick, a player to be named (do they have any decent D-Lineman?) and a late (6 or 7th) round pick. The first pick then goes to the Giants (who use it on Eli), in return for the fourth pick, the Giants second rounder this year and next. THEN if Gallery is available at four, the fourth pick to Cleveland (who really want Gallery) for the seventh pick and a 3rd. And with the seventh pick take KWII (as Detroit will take Taylor) If Gallery not available - Keep fourth and take Taylor Boy that was fun. How much do I get if I am right?? |
trading samuels to get Gallery woudlnt make anysense. We wouldnt gain anything and we'd have to trade up to Gallery and then pay him as much as Samuels. If Samuels is smart he'll get a new agent.
