XM or Sirrius
I'm wondering which is better, I listen to a lot of talk radio, sports, and like most kinds of music. So looking for one that fits all of that. If you have either, let me know. I'm interested in what you think, monthly fee, etc.
BTW: Stern is not an issue, I actually hate listening to his show because the funny content is far and few between his raves. So, let me hear some opinions! |
Re: XM or Sirrius
I agree with you on Stern! I'm interested in knowing which is better myself.

Re: XM or Sirrius
For me I'd go with Sirius because of Stern and the NFL.

Re: XM or Sirrius
I'd go Sirrius because of the NFL as well. Although my dad has XM and I do like it alot, however I'd go NFL because of the skins so if I was buying it take sirrius.

Re: XM or Sirrius
The NFL thing, is that only games or some sort of special NFL station?

You get a live broadcast of all the NFL games. Kinda like the Sunday ticket on radio, and you dont pay extra for it. |
Re: XM or Sirrius
I have XM. I love it. It makes longer trips seem shorter. I do wish it had the NFL broadcasts, though, but I've been able to live without. I think XM and Sirius are the same price these days.

Re: XM or Sirrius
What are you doing in front of the RADIO for Redskins games? ;)

Actually, I've been interested to see if Sirius has the same delay as DirecTV. If so, then you could bypass the idiot TV announcers and listen to the radio announcers with the TV sound down and not have that 5 second delay on the TV. |
Re: XM or Sirrius
I just like to pretend it doesn't happen. That makes me feel good inside. I watched the Bears game last year in Hawaii after my Dad already told me who won.

Re: XM or Sirrius
I have Sirius (haven't activated it yet because you need money to do that ;) ), but I used my uncle's XM on my honeymoon road trip.
I used several 3-day internet free trials (they go by email address, so multiple email addresses means multiple 3-day free trials) on Sirius, so if extra content (NFL, MLB, NASCAR, etc) doesn't matter, I strongly suggest using free trials to gauge which music channels you like better. XM was pretty good. I liked the MLB content, which came in handy when in the car for long stretches (heard a few O's and Nats game on my trip), and I was also able to listen to Tony Kornheiser (he's on channel 150 from 11a-1p). However, I settled on Sirius because I preferred the music channels over XM's, and will be able to get NFL and NASCAR (2007, they are on XM til then). as they are the same price now, it's all in which you prefer, whether it be MLB, NASCAR, Opie and Anthony, ACC, Pac 10, Big 10, MTV, VH1, or NFL, NBA, NHL, Jimmy Buffett (Radio Margaritaville starting next week), and Stern. |
Re: XM or Sirrius
Speaking of the Nats, DAMN they are streaking...

Re: XM or Sirrius
Sweet. I need to make it to one before they build a stadium. I never got a chance to make it to RFK.

Re: XM or Sirrius
it's not the same...
i went back in April for a game, sat in 456 (dead center), and you look over the field, trying to imagine football. it's hard, but your best vantage is remember that the budweiser sign in right was the south end zone and build off that. last time, we sat in M21 (right next to the VIP box), and it was better to imagine football because you looking directly at the budweiser sign, and figure out where everything is. the groundscrew is absolutely horrible! took them 45 minutes to roll the tarp up. we left in the 8th (rain, trying to beat the crowds back to Metro), with a friend of mine staying and texting me every few minutes. but the atmosphere is awesome. there were almost 40k the 2nd time we went, and in those Loge Seats, the damn thing feels like it's gonna fall they sway so much. |
Re: XM or Sirrius
That's awesome. I love the fact that they still have a lot of fans because of the whole honeymoon phase.

Re: XM or Sirrius
I'm feelin the sirius radio myself. I've had the service for about 6 mos. now and the only problem is no reception in the rain ( I call it the Gardner effect!!!). The nfl channel is great. For you b-ball fans, theres a show called Full Court Press fet. Kenny Smith of TNT fame. Very insightful/funny. The in-studio guests range from ballers to actors, musicians, beat writers,etc...The music speaks for itself. I find myself always listening to the "old skool rap" channel or "shade 45"(ran by slim shady himself). I know for a fact that the b-ball games are 5 sec delays so I assume football is the same. But the really good thing is that most of the time you can listen to your fav teams broadcast--not the other teams. Plus, it looks like the NHL is finally coming back and sirius has the exclusive coverage. Can't beat that. PS- Stern is cool too.
