Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
The NFL has moved the game to 4:05 per Ian Rappaport.
What a great opportunity for Ron and his team to celebrate after the game. With the Ravens - NYG game at 1pm, if NYG loses, the game will be for the NFC East championship. Regardless of who is at qb, we ought to have the upper hand to win this game. But can we PLEASE stop spotting teams double digit leads. In our 15 games, only 4 have we not been down by double digits at half. That's the biggest key to the game, and I believe that is on the Offense and Defensive Coordinators. Their opening schemes have not been good at all. As for Carolina, they won't be an easy win, and I hope our team doesn't take them lightly (they obviously shouldn't). In Carolina's last 4 games, they demolished Detroit, lost by a point to Minnesota after leading into the 4th quarter, lost to Denver (so they aren't consistent), and lost by 8 to GB. They have young talent and can easily upset the WFT's NFC East coronation if the WFT doesn't bring it's best 60 minutes of football. What are your biggest concerns about the Carolina team? (leave DH's struggles in his thread please) |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Teddy Bridgewater has had a huge issue with not being able to finish drives, and funbling in the red zone. Last game he fumbled both on the goal line and the 5 yard-line going in to score.
Our red zone defense is the best in the NFL. We'll shut them down, even if Christian McCaff comes back. It's on our offense to score enough to win. Please be ready, Alex. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Our QB situation is obviously a huge concern. What if Alex isn't ready to go? We'll know more this week about DH's status but right now it's hard to imagine he will be able to play.

This was reportedly done to give Haskins ample time to recover from his late Saturday night pre-Panthers game party. |

Logan Thomas/Gibson/McKissic/Barber Wildcat attack! No way the Panthers can prepare for that. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Key is our D and irrespective of whether McCaffrey plays, we have to contain the Panthers O and allow our O to not be chasing TD's. Their D isn't too hot, but likewise not to be taken lightly. We have to establish the running game and not rely on passing. Their OL is a bit banged up so hopefully we can get a lot of pressure on Bridgewater.
I think if we control the clock in this one we can win by at least 7. |

Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
I'm starting the Taylor Heinicke bandwagon.
If Alex can't go, we trust in Taylor. Check out the videos in the Haskins thread. |

1 career start with Panthers: 36-58, 62% 320 yards 1 TD 3 INT 5 runs for 31 yards Looks better than Haskins to me. |

WFT 24 Carolina 14
The defense carries us to another W |

distractions everywhere this week. almost forgot we have a huge game.

Both Rivera and Turner should know what he can do so that might be a bonus but remember that Rivera gave up a draft pick for Allen instead of getting Heinicke. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Last night I watched their game against the Packers, if we can establish the run game we beat them so hopefully AG will be back. The D will destroy Teddy B but likewise our OL will need to be on it or they will be getting pressure on our QB whoever that is.
I see a low scoring game 10-13 WFT |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
I hope the team rallies around its Coach. Let's not forget the guy is on his way to surviving cancer while coaching a team to the playoffs and turning a franchise around.
I don't care if Logan Thomas starts at QB, have our Dline truly ball out and we have a shot a anyone. Last week was overall a disappointing game by this front 4, hope they bounce back. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Once again the Dan Snyder owned franchise is a complete disaster.
I can’t believe we are talking about our QB who after a soul crushing loss during a playoff race has the audacity to go to strip club during a pandemic. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Haskins and Heinicke both taking reps with 1st team.
A Gibson also taking reps. |

Man I really didn't know Jonathan Allen came up in the foster care system. Makes me respect him even more for the leadership position he's in today. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
McCaffrey not practicing today. https://www.catscratchreader.com/2020/12/23/22197492/nfl-week-16-panthers-washington-football-team-injury-report-christian-mccaffrey-still-not-practicing
Also Haskins had his position as captain removed and both he and Heinicke practiced with the 1st's. I am seeing Haskins calling out sick Sunday ala his last benching. |

For those people who are not familiar with the foster care system in the US - the system is an epic failure and desperately needs to be reformed. So to see Allen graduate from the foster care system and managed to become a successful player is pretty amazing feat. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Jon Allen is just a really impressive dude.

Would be great if he doesn’t play and JDR could just game plan for the speed at WR, cause they gotta lot. |

Mike Davis has been a capable backup. Everyone's a step down from CMC, but he's not one to completely ignore. If we shut down DJ Moore, we're good though. Samuel has talent but he's dealing with a hamstring issue and isn't 100%. Robby Anderson's numbers are bigger than normal because Moore and Samuel have both missed time this season. Better WRs than ours, but our defense can handle them easily. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Despite the distractions, I don't see this as being a close game. WFT wins going away.
WFT 33 CAR 16 |

Gibson back at practice today!

Mind you, we have to play better run D; as you say, Davis is no slouch. |
Re: Riverboat Ron's Revenge - Panthers Week Thread
Would also be nice to start strong and score, preferably a TD, on our opening drive.

If we finish this year without a single point on an opening drive - that would be the most impressively depressing stat I've seen about us in at least 10 years. |

I’m hoping it’s precautionary. He’s had a bad ankle for a couple of weeks. You see a lot of guys do minimal practice later in the year. |
