[B]Mitchell Trubisky - Chicago Bears[/B]: A classic example of why quarterbacks with very limited college experience that are completely over-drafted should, we say, be avoided in the college selection process.

Trubisky finished reasonably strong last year, and his touchdown-to-turnover numbers are better than most fans and pundits think ... but he's not much of a play-maker. He's not a player who can take you on his back.

But ... Rivera has mentioned in older interviews that he and the Carolina Panthers liked Trubisky coming out of North Carolina. Is that the way he still feels?

Other Candidates: Jameis Winston, Tyrod Taylor, Andy Dalton, Colt McCoy, Robert Griffin III, Nate Sudfeld, Joe Flacco, A.J. McCarron.

Final Analysis: It could be about who costs the least for Washington but while we would lean towards Brissett, it feels like Trubisky is going to get an opportunity to save his career.

[B]How Does the Washington Football Team Address the QB Position?[/B]


Like the Chicago Bears, the Washington Football Team's top draft pick (No. 19 overall) probably excludes them from a shot at the top four or five quarterback prospects in the draft, barring a trade.

Washington has in-house options who could start in Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen, who's recovering from a dislocated ankle, but neither player would have a stronghold on the starting job.

The Football Team should explore trade options such as the Las Vegas Raiders' Marcus Mariota or Jacksonville Jaguars' [B]Gardner Minshew II[/B]. The latter doesn't have a high-scale draft pedigree, but he's played 23 games, started in 20 of those contests and thrown for 5,530 yards, 37 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a 62.9 percent completion rate.

Statistically, Minshew has put together solid starts in Jacksonville, but he's clearly a backup if the Jaguars select a quarterback with the No. 1 pick. Washington should look into the 2019 sixth-rounder as an option to lead a playoff-caliber roster because of his solid passing numbers.

If not, Andy Dalton, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Mitchell Trubisky could land on Washington's radar as arguably the top three quarterback options on the open market.

I'm not going to worry about it until something happens.

I just listened to the latest Jay Gruden interview on Ben Standig's podcast yesterday and he was saying how agents will say anything they want to drum up interest for their clients. Can't believe everything you hear this time of year that's for sure.

yeah im not worried.

TE Smith was the only target most fans had on our radar. Rest of the signings are for guys we didnt have circled.

Plenty of good players available and more cuts to make. There is always a handful of those late off season Desean Jackson type cuts as well.

BREAKING: According to Warpath member SkinzWin, the WFT is planning on making no splash signings during the beginning of free agency for the second straight year, enraging many fans who ironically have also bashed the franchise for overpaying free agents for decades. This is a developing story.

I have absolutely no issue with a relatively quiet FA with no huge name being signed. My only ? with that is then why do you spend 18M/y on your RG who's gonna be gone next year ? ... But I hope to be proven wrong by a soon to be signed Scherff LTD.

It is so damn refreshing to actually have adults running the operation over in Ashburn.

My opinion on free agency is go bargain hunting after that 1st wave goes by. We have seen too many times teams go on spending sprees and it rarely ever works out.

I wouldn’t break the bank for Golladay, or Fuller. Rather us go all in for Hunter Henry. Him and L. Thomas would be a lethal in two TE Sets.

#Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster has told teammates that he's likely to sign elsewhere in free agency, per @MikeGarafolo.

I don’t want JuJu. But if we don’t get Golladay he’s the next best alternative. I just can’t help but feel like he’s a diva, not Ron’s kind of guy.

We really need to open up the playbook with 2 TE sets...it’s a major disadvantage not to be able to attack a defense with this package. It’s a run and pass threat against base and nickel looks, but if you can’t trot out 2 talented TE, it’s a waste.

There’s magic in the air tonight ladies and gentlemen.

Former Dolphins’ QB Ryan Fitzpatrick reached agreement with the Washington Football Team on a one-year deal worth $10 million that could grow to $12 million with incentives, per source. Fitzpatrick is expected to head to camp as the starter, with competition from Taylor Heinicke.

Yup. There are occasional exceptions, but generally you massively overpay in FA. Your philosophy rings especially true this year with so many vets cut because of shrinkage of cap. Some serious bargains out there for the patient. Offer lots of players lowball deals and wait. . .

JuJu is a HOLE and does not seem to fit the attributes (non-playing-skill attributes) RR looks for. He is also very similar to 3 WRs we already have on roster, a long strider with speed but not quickness.
