Our 1st 2 pre-season games are on live on NFL Network.

Sweet!

I imagine game 2 this year would be like game 3 most years.

1st game is coming up hot - August 12th

Don't know if it's because we didn't have one last year but I'm quite excited by this pre season.
I know it never means anything regular season-wise, but we have a lot of young guys and position battles to keep an eye on !
The Oline in particular will be interesting. Like who gets snaps where and how do they do.

Not having a preseason last year made me realize that perhaps I didn't miss it very much. Wish we could just skip to week 1.

I'd be perfectly fine getting rid of pre-season. I'm gonna watch because I can't help myself. But I'll be sitting with all my fingers crossed hoping for no injuries.

I think 1 pre-season game 2 weeks before the season starts would work too. Because there is a different kind of sore when you're playing football against another team. Could probably use 1 game just to get bodies acclimated to playing an opponent.

Now that there is only 3 pre season games for most, i wonder which game will be deemed the most the starters play in ; usually it was the 3rd game.

So maybe pre season's 3rd game still is the dress rehearsal for most teams...

When I was playing keepers fantasy football, I remember spotting Derrick Henry as a potential monster in his first pre season. Took him time to truly become that, but I wasn't wrong.

Only thing that might change is just a little less snaps for starters, at least at positions where they need to see bubble guys play.

Agreed, it's weird because we have good depth at DB... but at the same time I get the feeling WJ3 is pivotal to us being able to be a real good defense. With him I'm like "man our DB squad looks good" and without him all of the sudden I feel like we have a massive question mark at CB...

It isn't good they both seem to be struggling with health now.

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk[/quote]Both are huge for defense and offense respectively. Samuel is a game changer on offense when healthy. Fast, versatile, and flat out productive. Jackson is needed as we need a healthy, true #1 cb considering the 1 receivers in our divisions (Cooper, Golladay, Devonta Smith, etc) and pretty much all NFL teams have. Both of these guys are needed to take the offense and defense to the next levels.

Same…I think with a new QB on the team preseason matters a little more in order to get things down.

I also think Bellichek will play his guys "enough" so the first quarter at least should as footbally as you can get with coaches who are not trying to show everything but want to see enough.

Hoping to see them Thursday night. Receiver talent looks different and significantly improved:)

I think TE is interesting with Bates being behind Hemmingway and also one of only 4 positions that go 6 deep.

I expect a couple series out of Fitz and the starters - maybe longer - I'm guessing Ron just wants to see them get in a rhythm and go on a scoring drive - then next week they'll stay in for a quarter+ and week 3 stay in for 2-3 quarters.

Ron needs time to let the starters gel, while also giving enough time to evaluate the backups.

Only thing I'm looking for is no major injuries.

From the day he was signed Humphries was penciled in as the starting slot WR. Either way I wouldn't get too worked up about the first depth chart.
