2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion

No surprises here

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion

Starting to wonder when Chase Young will return 100% based off Rivera's comments yesterday. Hopefully soon. He basically implied Thomas should be ready to go prior to Young. Really hope Young reaches his potential when he returns.

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion

-- Rivera addressed the team placing Chase Young, Chase Roullier, Tyler Larsen and Logan Thomas on the PUP list at the start of the press conference. Roullier has had some "really good sessions" and might be the first person off the list. Thomas and Larsen are a little further along, and Young will likely take the most time considering the significance of his injury.

-- Rivera was quick to answer a question about whether this season is "playoffs or bust." "No. It's fair to say we expect to win. And we'll leave it at that."

-- Rivera feels "very good" about the linebackers on the roster and believes they fit the team's vision for the defense. There's still a possibility the Commanders could add a veteran to the group, but he wants to give the position a week to show what they have to offer.

Good news on Roullier, we need him back w Larsen out longer.

Chase Young .. seems destined for 4 game PUP list, which is good, he had a complex surgery

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion

I liked that Ron is not saying this is a playoffs or bust season. No need to set those expectations and give the fans and media something to harp on all year.

Sure hope him and JDR are right about Jamin Davis. This unit will be watched closely in camp for sure. Hope they do flash in preseason getting ready for the real season.

We are one injury away to Holcomb from panic mode.

Really hope a vet D signal caller gets cut next couple weeks.

We should be in panic mode with Holcomb in the first place. Him going down would be there is always next season mode. Man we need to sure up the middle of our defense- mlb and s. To me it is just a gaping glaring hole.

I feel like the hole at linebacker is so glaring that if the position is anything less than solid throughout 2022 then it's a fireable offense for somebody. Because it's so frickin obviously a problem. My nephew playing Madden would be like shit I better fix that.

John Keim article:

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34302508/carson-wentz-building-confidence-first-training-camp-washington-commanders

Wentz connected with receiver Terry McLaurin on a deep corner route for approximately 40 yards. Later, there was another telling moment when he threw a bit behind McLaurin, who reached back for a completion. As Rivera wondered if Wentz was late, he saw McLaurin run up to Wentz and let him know it was his fault -- he was too quick to come out of his route.

"We were able to connect off the bat," McLaurin said. "And just to see his command of the huddle was really good. He was calling the plays really strong and that gives confidence to the other 10 guys in the huddle that we have a guy who will be attention-to-detail-oriented. It gives us a chance to make plays."

Yop. For me it was already a felony to think drafting a rookie was enough last year. 2 years in a row of the same mistake would destroy a lot of the faith I'm trying to have in this regime.

Just laughing at those pics of nobody there. What a great way to build excitement for the Commanders era by restricting attendance through a lottery. Just fucking brilliant. God this franchise is truly pathetic.

I know some people had high hopes of him moving to TE, but if he was lost at WR how was he going to find himself in another position?

Washington Clownshow is the true name for it as long as its owned by Snyder.

They should be opening this camp for FREE until its at max capacity and giving away food/water/etc. Make it an event. Instead, they still treat it like they're the greatest show on earth with legions of fans that will do anything for them.

FUCKING IDIOTS!

They are doing a lottery thing for tickets bc there just isnt room for fans at Ashburn.

Radio said almost all teams hold TC at their facilities now vs the old tradition of traveling somewhere (like Carlisle or Richmond). Just easier more cost effective to stay home.

Richmond I heard had a big hill all the fans could sit on and all have great views. Ashburn theres no where for fans to sit and get a good view.

I went to TC years ago at Ashburn when Gibbs came back and the place was jam packed. So what happened? Seems like you may want to hold TC somewhere where you can accommodate more than 10 fans.

Idk man .. ive never been. Im going off what i hear on local sports radio and what super fan tailgate Ted said.

Gibbs was pre bubble facility ... so the layout might be vastly different? Local sports radio heads here said there isnt much room and talked about bringing in bleachers then liability for bleachers ... ya know, the typical boring downtime summer sports talk radio

Ive never been so I defer

In Richmond I went most years and it always was a good size crowd. Couple times extremely packed…and I never went to fan appreciation day which was always overpacked.

The lottery and the general feeling about the team has fallen greatly in the area.

Looking at the few photos that show the fan area .. it seems like its a decent area sq ft wise but standing field level, you cant see or appreciate anything.

row 1 endzone are the worst seats in the house except for goal line .. then its insane

why the lottery? why not bring in bleachers to give fans an elevated view? radio guys were talking liability exposure etc but come on man.

idk .. this team

There's a bit of hill there in Ashburn you can stand on and see just fine. They used to draw a few thousand a day there easy. Even without the lottery I think the crowd would be sparse. Just where we're at now.

Those pics of camp today are beyond embarrassing. I have been to the old camp in Carlisle, PA and Ashburn, VA where tons of fans were present. Seriously starting to wonder about attendance this season already. Know we were worst last year but it could be lower this season. Super wow on those pics.

A bunch of factors working against the team right now, Snyder burnout, the name change, probably not a ton of fan confidence in Wentz or even Rivera... this team needs a fast start to the season more than anything

We need to start off 2-0. Schedule gets way harder the next 3 weeks.

Week 1 – vs Jaguars
Week 2 – @ Lions
Week 3 – vs Eagles
Week 4 – @ Cowboys
Week 5 – vs Titans

Definitely.

That would be my prediction too. I think we will win the 1st 2, split with the Eagles and Titans, and lose to Dallas.

Of course, we're not good enough to bank wins, so we can lose to any of those teams.

That ticketing system must be working wonders judging by the crowd size pictures. Imagine how many fans showed up and then left when they learned they needed to go through the process of acquiring a ticket to get in.

Also glad AGG realized his heart wasn't in it now - I'd rather get that out of the way now vs. have him realize it during halftime of a game for instance.
