Full Chase Young update, per a source: ACL surgery was more significant than most because he also suffered a fully ruptured patella — which is why he’s starting out on reserve PUP.

Impressive all-around recovery: #Commanders plan for Young’s return Week 5 vs #Titans.

Must mean a ruptured patella tendon and not a fractured patella/knee cap.

So far he hasn’t lived up to the hype. If he doesn’t play much this year it’ll be time to call him a bust. Hopefully that’s not the case…

That'll be unfairly fast IMO. One DROY season, one disappointing season and one potentially injured season and he'd be a bust? I'd say a second consecutive underwhelming season would be enough, but not if it's injury related.

This is interesting. I wouldn't be surprised to learn he was playing with an injury before he tore his ACL. Either way I won't expect him back until November - when do we ever get good news about long term injuries healing better than expected?

The pounding these guys take is really incredible. I just hope we can get through the season without anything major -- putting aside that it derails our season (because we don't have enough depth to weather a bunch of injuries), I just hate seeing what it does to these guys. Alex Smith lives in my town, and while I haven't seen him often, and I recognize that he played for a bunch of years, he's still a relatively young guy and he's been through hell and back.

Logan was taken out by a dirty play. I'd be concerned if he got hurt just running or cutting, but he was taken out by a low block during the Raiders game. I don't know how the guy that hit him didn't get fined or suspended. I don't think it was even called a penalty.

Chase Young has HOF abilities and the right competitive mind set.

He checks every box.

Once healthy, he will be a player that effects O coordinators weekly game planning and will do a lot of non-stat things as well as stat things.

Chase will be a prime time player for the next decade imo.

I know the ACL was a dirty play, no disagreement there. But when he's healthy he's had other ailments too.

Im sort of with Okie on this guy. He was supposed to be a cant miss. My heart says he will be back in a huge way. My gut says he never lives up to the hype. Not because of the injury either. Make me eat crow CY.

Chase Young's second year to me, is like Art Monk's injury. A little patience in a "mysterious " year, will go a long way. I really understand the disappointment, coupled with how slow Samuel's progress was, a down year on the line to a point, Thomas' injury, then McKissic, Gibson, Bates. Enough , right? This year I am optomistic, and don't feel we have to walk on egg shells, BALL!!! Let it fall where it may, NO FEAR. Ball.

Perfect , just in time for a Moral boost, and good tune up on a contending team. By then the smoke is clearing on the team and it's progress, coaching.
I think the gradual is order and on passing downs first or when /IF we have them backed toward their own end zone. Cool our jets to try to have him for Mid NOV to JAN

I can't see the corret angle on that play. I keep seeing him come away fine an didn't see what the other guy did.
Gonna' look again right now.

OKAY IT WAS DIRTY! He had the option of just stepping aside or squaring up high. Instead he got in a "Blockers" low stand and targeted his KNEE.

ThIS IS by far what I hope as well. I see him that way, more than a Bust.
with CY back online and pumped, a defensive backfield that is screaming for MORE pressure on the QB and their timing, then need all the help they can get, we should exceed expectations.

Who knows at this point? Read a tweet stating he had a limp at the Ohio St game which isn't good. Just want him to come back when he's totally healthy whether week 5 or whenever. Still think this kid's potential is still high and his rookie year was just a glimpse.

One other point is all this healing is eating up playing time under his rookie contract, which kind of sucks.

What in the actual fuck. This is the longest ACL injury ever. My 96 year old grandmother was better faster.

Everytime i read about it the timetable grows. To think it happened without contact. Such our luck.
