Vikings Post-game Thread

Turner and Heinicke combined, have the lowest 2-person football IQ in the NFL between OC and QB.

They are both just football brain-dead fucking dumbasses.

Take away one of the refs running over the Vikings player on Heinicke's chuck into triple coverage, he would have finished with less than 100 yards passing.

Playing Heinicke going forwards means we aren't prioritizing winning.

Both of them were an absolute embarrassment.

Re: Vikings Post-game Thread

This is what this team is. The Defense and Special Teams will keep them in games, but there is absolutely zero room for error. One or two mistakes can cost this team the win, just like one or two miracle catches or plays can give them the win. That is what you get when you have a backup QB and a mediocre play caller in charge of the offense. I really feel bad for the defense, they played their asses off.

The only thing that softens the blow of this one is knowing that by March the entire franchise may be heading in a better direction. Fingers Crossed...

Turner isn't great and we all know that, but his play calling mixed with the defense had us up 17-7 in the 4th quarter. Heineke basically gave the game away and Ridgeway decided to set it on fire while it was in the trash

I seriously want Ridgeway to be interviewed for a maximum of 2 questions:

1. Are you a dumbfuck?

2.

No to No. 1 = Are you too dumb to know you're dumb?

Yes = No further questions

Why not use more RPO with Heinicke? Particularly when we're up by 10.

I knew those timeouts was going to haunt us. The review by Rivera was dumb and I said as much when it occurred. He was lined up to see the play from the sidelines and still called for a review.

Ha! I've said it once and I'll say it again..... The Falcons and Eagles both use or place their QBs in situations where they can use their legs or be a decoy. We rarely does it. And, we have a QB who runs a 4.5 40 time.

They were up 17-7 despite the play calling. Heinicke made a few "good" Heinicke-type plays out of the pocket, and Samuel caught a miracle TD. That's why they were up 17-7 in the 4th quarter.

The pass to McLaurin on 4th and 1? That is the exact situation they drafted Brian Robinson for. Dumb call.

The reverse flea flicker play - or whatever the hell that was was stupid.

I'm not giving any credit to the play caller in this one. They were able to overcome the bad play calling to make it close...I'll go that far.

Turner must suffer from ADHD, we are supposed to be running the Air Coryell offense. One of the main things of the Air Coryell offense is to establish the running game, then the pass. This fucking idiot never ever allows the running game to get into the flow of the game and starts passing putting the team in poor field position. If you see your QB getting the ball batted down like 4-5 times, run the fucking ball, the vikes were expecting the pass and kept knocking the ball down. This team has many weapons and he is not utilizing them, use Rogers (I think he's our best TE), pound the ball, use all our WR's.

Ron give Howell a chance before is too late.

Great games by Allen, Payne, Sweat, Davis, Curl, Fuller, St. Juste, Samuel and even McCain.

RIP Coy Gibbs, poor Joe has lost both of his sons before the age of 50. Sad day.

Yep and they’ll go back to Wentz next week and it’ll still be a shit offense.

They won’t play Howell because Ron is too stubborn to admit defeat.

There is absolutely no chance we beat Philly next week

Another thing: our o-line is still crappy. They only seem to be a bit better due to Heinicke "landing spots" is where they anticipate him being and him also evading pressure. Now, could a more polished QB make things happen, regardless? That's certainly possible. But Rivera and staff has failed this team with poor personnel moves and poor coaching.

Normally when we lose it doesn’t effect me. I watch trying to find individual small things to enjoy but don’t really invest emotionally.

I was pissed after this one. I haven’t been emotionally triggered by this team in a while.

3 game win streak, up by 10, defense playing real well against a bonafide good offense ….. Just when I think it’s safe they sucked me back in today

That is some good shit. Good for Cousins. He is on a good team but I was impressed w/ him today. Our d-line was getting after him. He took some big hits but he stood in there and threw some really great balls. He is a dork and all but he is also a tough sob. He never misses games, ever.

I barely avoided getting sucked back into caring too much about a loss. It was nice to see that we were competitive and probably better than pulling off a fluke upset and forgetting that (1) we don’t have a QB, (2) our O line is patchy, (3) our play calling is inconsistent and at times illogical, and (4) our HC is a bad game manager. Not going to pick on the D today. In the end, the better offensive team won, and we should stay positive by repeating the mantra “Dan is selling, Dan is selling.”

Was at a memorial service all day. No televisions and completely forgot about football until i got home an hour ago. Literally never checked my phone to see the scores or my fantasy team. Absolutely forgot it was a football Sunday. Reading the two game threads for the story. Sounds to me like Ron and Scott are still holding this team back and Taylor is still a jag.

What is up with the D seemingly shutting them down until there are ten minutes left in the game and giving up three scores though?

Re: Vikings Post-game Thread

bad team plays bad? This is why the staff felt like they needed to go dump money on a QB. It still almost worked out today anyways. D is playing better (for the most part), we'll win some more games, but we've been out of the playoff hunt (by reasonable measures). So it's either try to win some more games w/ TH or CW for a bit or give Howell some time now(ish).

Re: Vikings Post-game Thread

Thing that is absolutely disgusting: outside of Leno and Cosmi the Oline is really troubling. Guys who need to go this offseason are Norwell, Trai Turner, Charles. Roullier has become an injury prone disappointment. We need to add pieces including a high draft pick or spend some bigger money at Right Guard. Fuck Ron Rivera as GM. Penalties on special teams

Things I like: Jamin Davis being comfortable and improving this year. Daron Payne and Jon Allen just dominate. Combo of B Rob and Gibson running the ball. I like the way our secondary is playing since Will Jax has sat.

We need a QB and better pieces along the Oline. I’m leaning towards keeping Payne and Allen duo in the center of Dline.

I didn’t watch today so I don’t have the emotional vested interest in blowing a 10 pt 4th quarter lead, but it is hard for me to be upset about losing to Vikings. They are the second best team we’ve played this season and we held their O to 20. They probably have the two seed in NFC.

Defense played well today. Our run defense is stout, held cook in check. The secondary played well, they gave up two td through the air that were just perfect throw, both td throws they had great coverage. The only thing on defense today that frustrated me was the coverage on their new Tight end Hockenson…sometimes they just let him run free, one time Davis got beat 10 yards. Justin Jefferson is gonna get his, but we broke up a TD and couple other pass plays against him.

The dline had Cousins under pressure most of the game. Payne completely leveled him late.

Exact opposite of last week: ugly game awesome win agains the Colts, solid game excruciating loss against a tough opponent this week.

Heinicke plays bad, but you can't totally dismiss the effect he seems to have on this team. Everybody seems to be having more fun and playing harder when he plays... Can't build a team around him though, no arguing that.

Credit to JDR for turning things around. The Vikings' Offense is loaded with weapon and they couldn't move the ball on us past the first drive of the game, minus one big play, which they gonna have agains pretty much any body.

Secondary playing really well. Whole Dline awesome.

Definitely in that "above-average" category.

You know what hurts worse than losing this game? Knowing we lost him for a 3rd round pick. That is an all-time fail for the Snyder era.

Great game by defense - they have stepped up a big time in the last 3 games. I'm curious to see how big difference Young will make once he starts playing. I'm really liking St. Juste, he has been picked on by QBs but he held his ground most of time.

The offense didn't do their part, Turner and the Oline had no answer for Smith who has been one man wrecking ball yesterday. Although I believe the offense would have been worst if Wentz played, so while Heinicke is limited, he is better than Wentz.

Offensive numbers

3/10 on 3rd Down conversion ... went 2/12 last week vs Colts
0/1 on 4th down .. historically bad on 4th down? we have to be in the mix.
149 pass yards w 49 coming off the throw into triple coverage

28 pass attempts
30 rushes (3 or so were drop backs that turned into scrambles)

Run game was odd ... 30 rushes for 137 yards which is good/decent but Robinson was 13/44 and Gibson 11/36

Our offense is tough to watch. We don't have a good QB and we don't have a good OC. Makes it very tough to score.

Re: Vikings Post-game Thread

That game was ugly, if it wasn't for a Lucky prayer and the ref literally stopped the INT from happening we wouldn't have even scored 17.

TH makes AWFUL and I mean AWFUL decisions. He plays the game like "Favre did" but he has zero Arm talent like Favre and he isn't accurate like Brett was. They need to stop comparing the 2 on TV every fucking week.

Honestly I'll be glad when 11 is back, at least he can stretch the field.

^^ snap count from yesterday

Heinkke vs Wentz .. end of the season i think we end up with the same record, just gets there a bit different

Wentz .. we knew quick decision making, taking what the D gives isnt his strength but I was hoping hed be okay at that along w the long ball. Wentz just doesnt process and make decisions quick enough.

Heinike - hes heinike. back yard football. throw the NFL playbook out the window and call quick hitters making everyone a scat back.

I think we need to fully embrace the heinike back yard football. No 7 step drops.

Chief X_Phackter 11-07-2022 11:28 AM

Re: Vikings Post-game Thread

I think unless they manage to surprise everyone and come away with a victory against Philly on Monday night, we can expect that Wentz will be under center after that.

Heinicke will have done his job as a backup - kept the team in games, managed to come away with two victories in four games...but the team will have won 2/4 because of the defense and a couple miracles.
