Cars
I've been meaning to start one of these for a while and with all the car talk going on, I thought now may be the best time. Anyway, are there any other car nuts on the warpath like me?
Here's the newest addition to my driveway: That's right, off roading w/ 30 day tags!!! :D I also have a 1987 K10 and 2001 Honda Civic. In 2 years (when my insurance goes down), I plan on getting a C6 Z06. That will be my pride and joy that will never get rained on and will only be driven between the months of may and september. :D I've always been crazy about anything w/ wheels and an engine. I got my first dirtbike when I was 6 and got my second one when I was 7. I was driving the trucks in the fields when I was 8 and learned to drive a manual transmission when I was 12. When I was 14 I saved up enough money to get my first ATV, a '96 Honda Foreman 400 (that thing was a tank!). In 99, I bought the K10 and in May of 01 bought the Civic brand new (now has 110k). I got my second ATV (2003 Honda Rincon) in January of 03 (right before a big snowstorm :D) and on April 22 of this year, I got my 4Runner, a 2005 SR5 V6 4x4 (already has 4200mi). I plan on getting my fiance a new vehicle within the next month, too. It will either be a Jeep Rubicon or a Scion tC. So, what does everyone else have/ want? |
Re: Cars
I used to be pretty car crazy. Into the whole customization thing, now I've gotten older and just put tasteful mods on my car. I'm SO proud that it almost brings a tear to my eye to see someone BUY an SUV and ACTUALLY take it offroading.
MAD props. |
Re: Cars
Oh, and I have a Mazda3. Gas mileage is great. Good power, lots of space. If I wasn't being rational, I WOULD have bought an Acura RSX Type-S.
|
Re: Cars
i have my lowly 95 Ford Taurus, which doesn't do too bad (hit 100k yesterday, put 40k+ since February '03). my wife's 96 Saturn SL is on its last legs, and she keeps hinting at wanting a Hyundai Santa Fe (what is with women and wanting "cute" cars?!?!), so I think i'm going to trade in both cars to get her the Santa Fe (or comparable SUV) and me a commuter bucket (older Japanese model mid to small car, one i can put 100k on when it already has 100k+ on it)...
i would love one of the new 3's (best gas mileage in its class), but we can't afford 2 new cars, and since she's got a much shorter commute, i'd rather get her something nice. |
Re: Cars
What is with women and wanting SUVs period? One of my friend's wives is about 5'2" and wanted an EXCURSION! Are you kidding me?!

I always laugh when I see women driving these huge tanks down the road. They just look ridiculous. Meanwhile here I am in my Ford Focus. I'm not a car nut, I just like something that gets me where I need to go and doesn't hit my wallet too hard on gas and maintenance. My brother sells Fords so I got a sweet deal on it, nearly half off the sticker. Hard to beat that! As long as he works for Ford that's what I'll be driving. |

At the first intersection out of the dealership when I was bringing my 4Runner home, I was at the front of the line waiting at a red light. When the light turned green, I looked for oncoming traffic and sure enough here comes this woman in a crew cab F350 pulling a horse trailer - straight through the red light. She was talking on the cell phone and NEVER even touched the break pedal. She ran the red light by a good 5 seconds - and never even realized it! I was glad I looked because either I or my fiance who was following me would have been good and smashed. |
Re: Cars
it drives me nuts as well...if my wife had her way, she'd be driving a Surburban. i figure the Santa Fe is a glorified station wagon that sits a bit higher.
what cracks me up is the women who drive around in H2s...i mean, gimme a break. do you really need that thing to get groceries and take the kids to soccer practice? (no offense of course, as no one really needs something as big as the H2) |
Re: Cars
I think the ONLY reason that someone needs a huge SUV is if you are a contractor and make your OWN deliveries. Girls always want stupid ass SUVs because they think they look cute in them.
Buck, buck, chickenheads. H2s.:vomit-smi Our country makes it easy for people who are less endowed to look HUGE in their cars. |
Re: Cars
chickenheads, LOL
|
Re: Cars
You know the type too don't ya? The ones with Hawaian leis hanging from their rear-view mirrors that actually date guys specifically for their cars. Leis and cars are kind of like Kool-Aid mix for chickenheads.
Jetta + Lei in rear-view = Chickenhead |
Re: Cars
You're cracking me up!
Girls love Jettas, what's up with that? Jettas aren't even that great of a car, overpriced for the quality IMO. |
Re: Cars
Seriously, you knew it the SECOND I said it too! LOL
Girls love Jetta, Neons, Civics and ANY SUV that Daddy will buy them. And then hang a lei in it. |
Re: Cars
I'm gonna be on the lookout for leis hanging from rearviews now, LOL
I forgot about Civics and Neons too, don't forget about the new Beetles with the flowers next to the steering wheel, god I hate that |
Re: Cars
YES! I almost forgot! I can't believe I forgot. If there was something to challenge the Jetta for the Queen of Girl Cars, it would be the Beetle. It has to have a lei, a flower pot, and a STUPID ass personalized plate with SOMETHING about bug or beetle in it.
Honestly, just about everything Volkswagen is female. |

Put an areola and a nipple on top. |

Put an areola and a nipple on top.
lol! I went to HS with a guy that had a new bug when it first came out. His grandmother told he and his older sister that she would buy them any car they wanted. They both got beetles because it was 'cool'. His is white and hers is black. It made me sick to think he picked a bug when he could have *any* car he wanted. He's a pretty good guy, though. |
Re: Cars
LOL. What's funnier is that you had to say, "He's a pretty good guy."
Pretty good or pretty GAY? J/K man. I know of some guys with Beetles. And I too, cannot believe he picked that of ALL cars. |
Re: Cars
Beetles are the ultimate girl car in my opinion. A guy can get away with driving a civic or a jetta, but a beetle?? C'mon now
|
Re: Cars
But remember, they could be good guys...
Just messing with ya cpayne! :) |
Re: Cars
I think the Beetle Turbo is kind of like a she-male. It's a girl car with balls.
|
Re: Cars
Cpayne - I know exactly why he got the car he did. It was to lock me out when we went to the movies. Forcing me to ride on top of that dome shaped son of a bitch screaming for my life as he went in circles at 20 MPH.
|

 Would you adopt me? |
Re: Cars

Cleanly shaven, gay balls!!! Disclaimer: My attorney has instructed me to disclose that in fact, there is nothing wrong with being gay. P.S. Take a car with 110 hp, put a turbo in it, and then make it a convertible which adds a few hundred lbs=still sucks! |
Re: Cars
LOL! Indeed. Sounds like a lot of cars around here. (I live in a Fast and Furious kind of town)
|
Re: Cars
Im just teasing sweetheart,,,say what are you doing later tonight?
|
Re: Cars
I'M going to polish my paint canister exhaust, put another coat of primer on my Eclipse and NOT paint it. Also, if I could borrow some lugnuts to put rims on only one HALF of my car, that would be great.
|
Re: Cars
I have to disagree with most of you on women driving SUV's. I have three children a wife and a dog. I will not be caught dead driving a mini van so I forced my wife into getting herself an SUV. When we take trips home up 95 I usually drive, but she is the primary driver when we are here.
I also am a car enthusiast and have to have my own ride. I recently sold my 1997 Eclipse and am about to purchase the 2006 Pontiac GTO as soon as it is available. There is something about a car that has 400hp and 400lbs ft torque that compells me. |
Re: Cars
Ok you win on that one, angryssg. I'll take a SUV anyday over a minivan.
Buying a minivan is the end of your youth. |

Re: Cars
I thought it was because a lot of people like to be up high. Personally, I think you should need a special license to get a larger vehicle. To prove that you can a) drive it. b) Need it what so ever.
We wonder why we're so dependant on foreign countries for oil. I had a friend in high school getting 4 MPG. |
Re: Cars
btw, Cpayne. Is that the Rivers, and Trucks, and Microinvertebrates OH MY river?
|
Re: Cars
Buying a mini van is something that my wife and I have sworn never to do. We hate the entire "Soccer Mom" revolution. We also refuse to put permanant stickers on our car.
The down side, she likes mercedes. Damn! |
Re: Cars
I'll take practically any car that doesn't feel like the wheels are about to bust out from underneath the car while driving it cuz that isn't too fun of a feeling.
some of my dream cars would be a modernized 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge, a modernized 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 or 1970 Mustang Boss, or an Audi S4. plus it'd be really kewl to one day have the money to have a hot rod put together like on the American Hot Rod show on discovery. |

That is the exact spot! |

Re: Cars
Hey, what's wrong with a Civic....and personalized plates? I have a 98 civic that does what it needs to do...gets me from A to B. And as long as my liscense plates say REDSKNZ in New York...I am happy.

I personally decided I didn't want a civic anymore after Fast and the Furious came out and everyone seemed to start getting them. |
Re: Cars
hell, i don't want a civic anymore either but i am not in a situation right now where i can just decide that i want a new car....i have to use what i have at the moment..with one kid and one more on the way all my money goes to them if you know what i mean

I know how u feel, my 91 ford taurus has seen better days & is falling apart around me and forcing my hand on me getting another car before I had actually planned on it. |
