Trade deadline approaching...

Not sure we could work all or any of these deals but it's not an unbelievable read. What trades would you suggest? Who we buying, who we selling? For me I agree we have a priority for OL and LB help, and trades could go some way to mending those, especially LB. I'm not sure Jeudy is the problem in Denver, but if he wants out why not? If we did bring him in, I'd like to see an equivalent trade out probably with Brown as bait. Dotson still has too much potential to give up on yet. Do we leverage Young (especially given Toohill flashing) or keep him with the hope of working deals to keep him and Sweat in town? I want to see him work out, but now may be the best time to cash in, rather than see him walk in '24. |
Trade deadline approaching...
Jamf and M looking to trade Howell to Atl for a 7th and Taylor Heinekie.
Seriously im not sure I have any faith in anyone involved with this team currently to make a good trade. I still don’t think this current team is ready to seriously compete so maybe just ride it out, keep our picks etc and let actual football people take care of this in the offseason. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Andrew Wylie for a ham sandwich
|
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
We better be sellers on Young if we don't intend on re-signing him.

What would you do? I would trade him. |

I would too if the offer was right, I'm also not giving him away |

Let new management pick their players next year. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
There is money to sign both Young and Sweat next year. Look at how many big contracts the 49ers have. They’ll be in cap hell next year even though they have $40 mil in cap space. Next year we move on from Thomas, Leno, Samuel, Wylie, maybe Fuller. As for trade maybe JSW or Toohill for a T.
|
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
I'd look to re-up Toohill right now as an insurance policy for CY.

I agree, but will the new owner? Honestly, CY been coming on lately. But if we can’t or won’t resign, I bet we could grab a solid 2nd/3rd rounder and maybe an additional one |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Even though we need to make some moves to solidify our team, I would be surprised if the owners group approve any trades.

Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Per Keim:
Ron Rivera on Chase Young: "He's done exactly what we've asked. He's done some good things. Very dynamic; he has some explosion to his game. He's doing a great job." |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Per Keim...over the last two weeks according to ESPN Stats & Information DE Chase Young has the most pass rush wins (16) in the NFL.
His stock may reach its peak if he has another good game this week. However, I think I would rather keep him. |

I would agree with this except Samuel. He's been more than solid for us. |

I like him, but I like Sweat and Young more and if he’s willing to take a friendly contract, then bring him back or draft another WR to replace him. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...

I agree with that to an extent but I'd take the best offer just so we get something. I'm not sure how it works out for compensary picks if we let him walk. We could - I forget what it is called - where you could match any offer but again if we didn't we'd not sure we would get any comp picks. |

I wouldn't let Samuel walk if the numbers stack up. He's a known quantity and thus far better than Dotson (who I think will come good). That's why I suggest trying to get some value for Brown, who's been a non-factor thus far. We can pick up a #4/5 WR almost anywhere, but we either need OL or LB starters now or a stack of picks to restock the roster in the offseason. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
If I'm new ownership, I'd let it be known ANY of our current players can be had...any of them. I'm looking for picks, especially a #1 from anyone for the next draft to give the new GM/Head Coach some options moving forward and possibly get one of these QBs in this next draft, or at least a high impact player that can contribute from day 1.
|
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Ron has never been a wheeler dealer at the trade deadline, so if any action does happen it is likely coming from ownership which is not necessarily a good thing. It would seem likely that Ron would have been banned from trading away future draft picks for short term player fixes.

I am not sure what value we could get for Brown I really don't see draft picks being traded and nothing above a practice squad player |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
This trade deadline talk is pathetic in view of the incompetent FO we have.
p.s. I haven't taken my medicine yet. |

Pretty much my take. Harris is like yeah you idiots aren’t making any more decisions with my money. |

Smart - they really need to make a decision on Sweat vs. Young - do we keep both? Keep one? If they are only keeping one they need to lock up Toohill and trade 1 of the 2 for whatever we can get for him - assuming it would be higher than a 3rd round pick because I'm sure both of them would get beaucoup contracts in FA. |

I think they'll sign Sweat long-term and franchise tag Chase for 2024. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
They drafted KJ Henry and Andre Jones to replace JSW and Toohill next year. As much as I like Toohill, strike a trade while he’s hot and if they can get a T or LB, do it.

There is no way we are getting a difference maker at T or LB for Toohill. |

Nobody said a difference maker. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
LOL, why trade him for a non-difference maker? Lock him up.
|
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
They drafted KJ Henry and Andre Jones for depth. Doesn't mean they are replacing anyone in particular.

JSW and Toohill are FA after this season |

There are some decent OL equivalent to Toohill. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
And LBs, DL, etc.
We have decent OL. |
Trade deadline approaching...
Nobody said a difference maker.
I meant different than anyone we have. I worded that funny. Im with Chief though as far as we aren’t going to get anything worthwhile for Toohill. I do not agree that our oline is decent enough. We surely need some upgrading. But that is not happening by trading Toohill and with CY’s injury history I wouldn’t want to. Toohill is familiar with our D and it is week 7. Losing him and bringing in someone new, who is going to be a jag to start fresh in week 7 would be detrimental to both sides of the ball imo. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
The O-line has been decent. Only 12 of the team’s total sacks have been credited to the O-line on PFF. EB needs to help Sam out, and Sam needs to help himself too.
|
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
We could upgrade every position group. I probably wouldn't start with the O-line, but they would likely be 2nd or 3rd on my list.

Draft choice wise, what's it gonna take? I dont think anyone's going to give up a 1,but I think I would take a 2nd rounder for him |

He was a 1st round pick after all. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
I assume saying we have decent OL is just an early april fools.
