Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Got the big win, that’s all you can ask!
Offense moved the ball, but sloppy with mistakes. JD5 was good, held the ball lil bit and end of half mistake. Boy, Terry hold out..he looked meh. Thank god for Deebo! Bill ran well, maybe didn’t get the ball enough Defense was better than the offense. Just wrecked the line all day. Punished Wilson and Tracy. They eliminated Nabors. Lattimore looked damn good. I thought D Payne was the best player on the field. The penalties were terrible. Gotta clean it up. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Defense was brilliant in the red zone.
Offense was behind but solid overall. Ekeler and BCM will be a good 1-2 punch. No injuries! Conerly struggled but it is his first game and it was against an elite rusher. McLaurin is the only deep threat. Hopefully Lane can replace Slow Ass Brown soon. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
I missed the first half so I can't comment much on that. But from what I saw, yeah a little sloppy. Defense looks ahead of the offense at this point which is actually a good sign in my opinion.
It's basically still preseason. Mostly new O-line, new running back Terry held out the entire offseason... it will take another couple weeks before things are clicking there probably. Granted, it was the Giants, but it's nice to see the defense play well this early in the season. Something to really build on, and wins against Division opponents are never easy. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Good - Defense ( if there was a choice for awesome i would pick it)
Bad - Offense in second half Ugly - that missed opportunity at the half |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
JD5 wasn’t as sharp as I suspect he will be from here on out - several passes behind receivers although a few were still catchable and dropped. Ran well and sparingly which was a relief.
Run D was light years better as was the D overall. No tds surrendered - can’t ask for more. Payne had a fantastic game. Bill looked great too. Deebo was a very good pickup for us. Lots to clean up (12 penalties and several were drive enders) but a win in the division is a quality win every time. I’ll bet Dart sees the field soon. Not sure he would have had a better day, but Russ looked rusty. Quick turnaround for the Packers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
That was the best our secondary and our Run D has looked in years.
If 5 had been looser we win by 30, and he will loosen up. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Got remember start of the season D always has advantage, O has to gel
Also remember that G Man D is legit especially the line ; couple better passes and this been a complete blow out JD5 looked fine |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Good- JD5, Deebo, Payne, secondary looked improved along with rush defense
Bad- missed opportunities, second half offense Ugly- too many penalties and game should have never been in doubt The new additions looked sharp. Love Deebo, Bill, Ertz. JD5 looked off on a few, but overall looked good. He's still as fast as ever. Going to be a fun year. Will gladly take this opener. Let's go Commanders!!!!!!! |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Terry and JD5 need to get together and put some work in before Thursday. Not sharp or in sync together. Fix that
|
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
That was a solid game. survived the first game penalty onslaught. They will clean that up.
Our O-line and D-line were the best squads on the field. Deebo picked up some chipping duties to help Connerly, but against that DLine our Oline gave JD5 time. GB had a great game today and Thursday is not that far off! sidenote: the pregame hype video they showed in the Stadium had a game of thrones vibe and was excellent. My brother and I both want that spear! Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

Look at Brandon Coleman pull and seal block on Bill’s TD. That’s what I want to see |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
A win is a win.
Liked what i saw. Big test in GB thursday. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Game wasn’t even close, Giants had no business hanging around as long as they did but they do have a good defense that will keep them competitive. Our defense looks much improved across the board.

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Defense led in this win. The Dline is much improved. The Dline’s new additions Deatrich Wise, Javon Kinlaw, Eddie Goldman looked solid. What most impressed me the most was the Dline played fundamentally sound against the run and pass rush.We finally have Dlineman that listen to coaching and can deliver on the field. It’s been a long time.
Super QB JD5 had some rust to shake off. He was throwing behind receivers early then overthrew Terry on a wide open deep ball. JD5 is exceptional. The Oline looks good. RT Connerly had some growing pains but he we were playing a talented Giants Dline. WR Lane and RB Jacoby Crowley-Meerit are excellent additions. We were lucky to play a Hiants team that offensively QB/Oline wise was struggling. Next week will be a real test. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Congratulations, very nice game . Looks like you guys are picking up where you left off.
Terry and JD5 need to get together and put some work in before Thursday. Not sharp or in sync together. Fix that
Agree. JD5 missed him on a deep out where it looked like McLaurin had 2 yards on the Giants defender. Likely a td or at least a long play. Think Terry/Deebo are going to be a dynamite combo. Great to see Noah Brown in the mix also considering his health. Offense should do big things this season. Hard to see any weaknesses and skill positions are loaded.

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Offense will work out the kinks, but I’m so damn happy the defense showed up today. 6 points!
We played the run great…rushed the qb. I like the heavy rotation up front. I’m interested in seeing how much Newton played. Also interested in seeing some coverage grades. |

No-huddle offense a tough assignment in game 1. Caused

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
No-huddle offense was a tough assignment in game 1, caused some problems in clock management. We’ll see a smoother and more potent offense as the season goes on and Terry is back on track. He, Deebo, Bill, Ekeler, and Ertz give 5 a great set of weapons. Fingers crossed for Thursday, but I’ll take 1-1 with no major injuries.

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Terry's holdout was apparent yesterday. He wasn't as involved as normal, and seemed like timing was off between he and JD5. JD looked a little off on some throws, but still had his wheels. I think that the timing issues will all come together pretty quickly.
BCM looked great. He and Ekeler will be a great combo this season, as long as Ek can stay healthy. I personally thought he should have retired last year after the 2 concussions....so I hope (not just for football sake) that he stays healthy and doesn't sustain anymore. If he goes down, Rodriguez has shown to be very capable. D. Payne gets the gameball from me. Dude was a monster today. Back to form from what we saw from him 2/3 years ago. Defense played great. Penalties were way too frequent. I figured we would have a few, but it was entirely too much. That can't continue to happen. Against better teams, we will end up beating ourselves with that amount of penalties, though I do think Quinn will clean that up pretty quickly. Overall, a great first game to build on this season. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Our defensive line is noticeably bigger, Kinlaw, Wise, and Goldman are all some serious dudes
|
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
The D look very good but it was against the G men. JD did throw a few balls a little behind the WR but those balls should have been caught. I think Payne is benifitting from the guys we brought in.
|
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
I know I’m already taking him for granted…by my goodness some of these throws…the TD to Ertz, scramble throw to Deebo across his body and the throw to Chris Moore was insane
I know he wasn’t perfect, but goodness JD5 arm talent |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Our defensive line is noticeably bigger, Kinlaw, Wise, and Goldman are all some serious dudes
Totally agree. I wasn't sure at first about the Robinson trade and some of the dline moves but hard to argue after yesterday. Only 1 week but off to a strong start.

When reading up on DQ defense in the past, I thought a concern was his preference for lighter, athletic d linemen. This seems like a welcome change in order to influence the run I imagine. I wanted to see snap counts…but seems like Eddie Goldman and Johnny got equal snaps. Whatever works and whatever the matchup gives us an edge against different styles |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
The defense was off to a good start on all levels.. It's nice to see that we can contain Nabers after being dominated by him last year. Although I'm not going to be excited about it until we play Eagles to see if we can stop them.
The offense can be better. Giants' Dline is beast |

Baldy really breaking down the “how’s” here on dline play against the run yesterday. Good watch |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Payne and Kinlaw were doing work. We are strong up-front.
We were sloppy as fuck. Kept them in the game. Didn't really do anything pre-season w/ the starters, and it showed. Daniels was off a tick on tons of throws. I don't expect that to be an issue going forwards, just needs some actual game work. DEEBO!!! |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
But for the penalties and some throws behind receivers that JD won’t likely repeat, we should have won by 30, not 15. 432 yards of offense is no joke.
Hope we see more polish on Thursday. We will need it. The Packers looked very good yesterday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Per Ben Standig,
“The Commanders sought out more big plays out of the backfield. JCM's 42-yard run was longer than any Brian Robinson carry with Washington. “ Sorry folks, B Rob had to go |

He bounces to the edge quickly and has very quick acceleration. Him and Ekeler are explosive. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Brob was good for pushing the line. There were times when he would run straight into the line, and couldn't be taken down. Just kept the legs moving and pushing the pile for an extra 2-4 yds. That stopped sometime after week 10 last year. It's a shame because i loved watching that style of running. Up the gut and push the pile.
I hope he does well, but also much happier with where our rb's are at now. |
Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
Felt like if we just hit a few more things that could have been a blowout, 31-6. At least for week one, the defense looked way better. Those guys upfront were dominating.

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants
highest rate of incompletions due to receiver error:
37.5% - Matthew Stafford 36.4% - Jayden Daniels 35.7% - Joe Flacco 33.3% - Tua Tagovailoa 30.8% - Dak Prescott receiver error primary consists of drops, but also accounts for when a receiver lost control at the ground, receiver slipped or fell to cause an incompletion, didn't get both feet inbounds but should have been able to & a couple other small instances (does not include miscommunication) -Warren Sharp Depending on how the season goes ( Lane development) and our health, especially Noah Brown….would not surprise me in the least if we moved a 7 or 6th round pick for another receiver. |

There were a couple throws that were possibly catchable that were still a tad high. Jayden is an awesome QB, he will make that adjustment pretty quickly. Would be surprised to see those Thursday night. |
