2005 Sacks Leader?
Who will lead the team in sacks in 2005? Vote...for added points, tell us how many sacks the team leader will get
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I was torn between Daniels and Arrington, but I went with Daniels because he's the only real pass-rushing DE we have, so he should have the most if he stays healthy all year.
I wouldn't mind it being Arrington though, because it's just fun to watch him kill QBs. |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
8 daniels- nice season
arrington with 5 bowen with 6 washington 2-3 griffin 3 springs 6 |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I honestly think with the way Williams schemes work, it will be a CB or LB.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Oops.....fogot about the bonus. I'll take Daniels for 8.5 Alex.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
If 56 stays healthy, I envision him having 10+ sacks this year. I think Gregg Williams is gonna cut him loose on the league.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
If Daniels gets a lot of sacks I'll poo my pants. Not because I don't think he can, but because if HE can do that, we'll have one of the most memorably dominant defenses in the league.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
lol tmc. i gotta go with arrington, g. williams is gonna unleash the guy on the league this year. i say he'll get 12 sacks.
arrington - 12 sacks griffin - 8 sacks healthy daniels - 7 sacks washington - 7 sacks springs - 6 sacks bowen - 5 sacks if taylor is available - 4 sacks rogers (if he starts like s.t.) 3 sacks all those sacks = number 1 defense |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Jeebus, THAT'S A LOT OF SACS!
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
This is LaVar's year. With him healthy he is going to show the league why he got the contract he did.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Lavar with 9. I see Willimas using him to blitz a lot.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I say Lavar will have over 10 sacks! He's going to play with a big chip on his shoulder.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I'm going out on my optimistic limb and saying Daniels will have a big year if he can stay healthy. Somewhere around 8-10 sacks out of him would be huge for us.
With the way Williams brings heat from every direction I think we'll see a pattern similar to last year where there's a bunch of sacks spread out over multiple players. |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Washington.
9 Sacks. If Sa'alavea (sp?) is the team leader in in sacks any time in late December, then the defense has had a BAAD year. That's not his job and QB-sacking not how he will earn his keep. |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I looked for Springs. Only found "Other".
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I agree with SC. The defensive linemen should be plugging up the holes to keep blockers off our LBs.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Jeebus, THAT'S A LOT OF SACS!
I thought the same thing. What is a good number of sacks for a team in a given year?
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
52 players should have 52 sacs unless there is something wrong. ;)
I guess no one noticed that normally I TRY to have perfect grammar and left out the "K" in sacks. Oh well, and honestly I don't know a normal sack amount, but I just think that mooby was a little optimistic. Ain't nothin' wrong with that, but I just don't see it happening. |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I think Griffin will lead in tackles for a loss. Gotta go with a DB on sacks...Springs.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Above 40 sacks is generally a pretty good season
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
The new NFL Films clip is up on redskins.com.
A pretty good one, even though I'm sad to see the Skins beat the Bears by only 3. |

A pretty good one, even though I'm sad to see the Skins beat the Bears by only 3.
i love that game, we broke a 4 game losing streak and portis got something like 171 yards. it was a fun game so was the detriot and the giants (second ofcourse).... seriously i am now depressed because that made me think of the first giant's game:( |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
We should have KILLED the Bears based on stats alone.
|
We should have KILLED the Bears based on stats alone.
It seems like we have been saying that for a long time now.

Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
i don't know if i can post subcribtion services on this sight but Espn insider just put out its top players for fantasy football and we got screwed on both sides of the ball, our qbs don't break top 25 our wrs not one till well after 30 and another didn't break top50, our defense/Special teams barely in top half. and our top RB doesn't hit in top 10
i guess it is to be expected but the defense and RB is all that makes me mad. otherwise cooley got some credit but i still think and know he deserves more |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Paraphrase good sir, paraphrase.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
Gotta vote for Daniels. Having all the guys blitzing will have to make his job easier! 10+
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
voted other: chris clemons baby (9 sacks)
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
daniels or arrington hopefully... it could end up as bowen clemons or springs though the way williams works without up front pressure...
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I like Marcus Washington for this category. I think offenses are going to overplan so to speak for Lavar Arrington, when he returns. I think this will allow Marcus Washington to be much more effective during pass rushes. So I'll go with him.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I'm going to go out (perhaps way out) on a limb and say the feel-good, tearjerker, Hallmark movie of the week story of the year will be Mike Barrow and his team leading 11 sacks
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
arrington with 12 and I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to see guys like Washington, Bowen, Springs, Daniels, and Griffin wind up with 4-10 sacks each.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I was going to say that collectively, our team total will set a new record. (Of course, it would be extemely optimistic.) Then, out of curiosity, I looked up the record. 72 sacks by the '84 Bears. That is insane!!! That is 4.5 per game. But as somebody already mentioned, over 40 sacks would be nice. Anyway, I'll go with Lavar as the individual leader at 10.
|
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I think Arrington has a big chance, but I think our boy Sean Taylor will lead that department. I think Williams plans on using him a lot more this year.

nah, the feel good story of this season is gonna be ade jimoh and how he stepped up and earned a starting cornerback role, and proceeded to lead the team in sacks. what can't that guy do? |
Above 40 sacks is generally a pretty good season
Isnt over 40 excellent? Most teams dont usually get ove 40 do they. How many do the steelers have on their record years? Was it in the 40's or 60's, I cant remember? |
Re: 2005 Sacks Leader?
I am surprised so many people said Daniels. I picked Arrington becuase to say he is due for a big year is an understatement
