Redskins | Rogers Set Back by Foot Injury Wed, 29 Jun 2005 16:36:13 -0700 Adam Schefter reported on the NFL Network that Washington Redskins rookie CB Carlos Rogers (foot) has a stress fracture in his foot and is going to undergo additional tests. He is not expected to be ready for the start of training camp. |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Well, looks like Walt Harris is the starter.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
I pretty much expected Harris to be the starter due to experiance, but this is not good news. Luckily we dont really face any "pass heavy" teams for a few weeks into the year, so hopefully Rogers can get back somtime early in training camp and pick things up to be ready to play a large role in week 4 or 5.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
that stinks, i was hoping the skins would have their full roster at camp, all healthy and ready to get to work. hopefully he does'nt miss too much.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
i hope it not another situation like Taylor Jacobs where he basically missed his entire first season.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Well I guess thats why we got Hawkins.....I really hope Rogers gets healthy soon, stress fractures tend to really linger.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
:vomit-smi Please get better Carlos.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Do we EVER get good news anymore???? :frusty:
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
According to the article he has been in a walking cast for a couple of weeks.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
I dont know about the rest of you guys, but I think that we are under the curse of RFK!!! It seems that ever since we left RFK all that we have had is nothing but heartach...
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
You know who's not hurt?
Mike Williams... I kid, I kid... |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
lol im not in the mood for jokes. i hope carlos gets better though, this whole offseason has but nothing but a headache.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
This is the first offseason in a long time that has been filled with disappointment. Maybe, as has been pointed out in other threads, this poor offseason bodes well for the real season.

Re: Rogers has foot injury
I'd love to see the Skins come back for just ONE game. We'll give FedEx to the Nationals...

Re: Rogers has foot injury
How about a card for C. Rogers? All Warpathers could sign!
It was done for Jansen last year. |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Wasn't Coles problem a stress fracture in the toe?
I hope this doesn't turn out to be a long term problem. |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
This just gives The Ade a chance to step up and show off his ever polishing skills.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Argh. I'm just really REALLY upset by this news.

Re: Rogers has foot injury
Here's some info on stress fractures:
http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/foot_facts/a/foot4.htm Sounds like rest is the best option. One positive is that Williams brings his rookies along slowly as he saw last year with Taylor. |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Hopefully he'll be ready for the season.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Does anyone have any insight to how this will effect our signing him to a contract. Can we put in a sipulation that he must heel for the deal? Will we wait to see how he progresses before signing? Will this lower his value and we just take the risk and sign him to a cheeper contrack? ETC...

Re: Rogers has foot injury
Matty:
Good medical info on that link. I used to referee basketball until a back injury made that impossible. Twice I had a stress fracture in the foot. They hurt and they hurt a lot. You can walk and you can run on them, but you are keenly aware of each and every time that foot hits the ground. My doctor said that the ONLY cure is rest and kleeping as much weight off the foot as possible. Shoe supports and cushions help a bit, but time is the only cure. The worst stress fracture I had happened sometime in late February of one year. I "ignored" it to finish out the season in early/mid-March. Then I procrastinated going to the doctor because I knew what it was and knew what he was going to tell me and I didn't want to hear it. I finally went to him about 1 May and got the diagnosis. It was completely healed in October. |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
So based on your experience, do you think it would be possible for it to be fully healed by time for the season to start? Generally speaking...
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
I think the article on the Post said he's been in a walking boot for 2 weeks now. So according to the medical info in the article above he should be good to go in another 4-6 weeks. Of course I'm not a doctor but I think that's a reasonable timeline.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Great. Sounds excellent to me.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Thankfully this injury was discovered at a "down time" and not in the preceding days to TC. The small consolation, and I stress small, is that Carlos will be able to take this time to learn the minutia of Williams' playbook. I am the farthest thing from an authority on foot related injuries but my roommate is a budding podiatrist and he noted that this type on injury, with rest, can heal in less than 6 weeks.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Since Rogers is younger than I was with either of my stress fractures, he should heal faster than I did. In addition there are "stimulating devices" available now that increase the rate of bone fracture healing; they did not exist when I had my stress fractures.
He'll be in training camp but they will keep a close eye on his running adn working out. By September, he should be OK. But he will almost certainly miss some practice reps and pre-season game time just to protect the injury from getting worse. It's not great news, but it isn't nearly as bad as a torn Achiles tendon or something like that... |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
True, true. Good to hear... Let's keep our fingers crossed.
|
Re: Rogers has foot injury
False story!!! George Michaels just reported this and had a interview with Rodgers. NO STRESS FRACTURE, THIS IS A BOGUS STORY!!!

Re: Rogers has foot injury
Sounds like the stress fracture was an old injury that's already healed/healing, and is separate from the ankle sprain/bone bruise he's currently recovering from.
Regardless, the prognosis is essentially the same: his participation in the early part of training camp is questionable, so this will slow his progress somewhat. |
Re: Rogers has foot injury
Hopefully this type of injury won't be as nagging as a brand new stress fracture. I feel much more relieved.
