Dyson or McCants?
Which of these guys do we keep? It looked as if the hand injury to McCants bothered him some during the preseason opener, but otherwise he was solid. Of course Dyson, injured reserve pending, had the textbook sideline catch that all but solidified his spot on the roster. :oink:

Re: Dyson or McCants?
I need to see a couple more games to decide. It's a toss-up to me at this point. That was a very nice catch on the sidelines!

Re: Dyson or McCants?
The only problem I've having is that we can't judge Dyson on that one catch. I hear they're both having drop problems. We'll see how they react next week...

yeah agree, i just need to see more than one catch. but it certainly works in his favor. |
Re: Dyson or McCants?
Dyson. I CAN'T STAND McCants.

Re: Dyson or McCants?
I like McCants. I think he can be a playmaker if ever given a chance. He had nice chemistry with Ramsey a couple years ago also.

I gotta tell ya, celts, MC is getting his shot this year. i hope he makes the most of it. |
Re: Dyson or McCants?
I think this year is it for McCants. If he doesn't step up and make the team, he will be gone from football. He has had opportunities. I wish Taylor Jacobs was healthy, he could be our "big" receiver this year compared to the little guys of Moss and Patten. Gibbs does not like the endzone fade, but that could become Jacob's or McCant's specialty. Let Moss, Patten, Thrash, and Cooley move he chains and then bring in a Jacobs or McCants when we get inside the 10.

Re: Dyson or McCants?
I always like McCants, and I bashed his camp performance more than once, not knowing he had a hand injury or whatever. I do hope that that gets cleared up and we hang on to him. Like Cooley has a knack for getting open in the endzone, McCants gets a small cushion and makes the most of it. He wins jump balls, which is an aspect of the game we lack right now. I haven't seen dyson play much, but I know he's up there in age and would rather have a young guy on the way up on the team, than the opposite. Again, I haven't seen him play much, so I couldn't make that decision, but I'm pulling for McCants.

Re: Dyson or McCants?
whichever can provide some special teams play is the guy they keep. i think it is that simple.

Atleast he has a backup plan:rolleyes: |
Re: Dyson or McCants?
Whats his back up plan? To be gone from football.LOL

Re: Dyson or McCants?
I think McCant's is more talented and I would like to see him succeed, but after visiting his web page last week I really have some questions about what this guy find's important? I believe it's his mind set or lack of a mind set on football that really put's Gibbs off, but I do believe he is the better player, but he does have his work cut out for him we all know Gibbs would really like to replace him, and if Dyson continues to impress he will.
|
Re: Dyson or McCants?
I think you'd need at least one tall receiver who can out-jump defensive backs in the endzone. But like most others, I need to see more.
Their special teams contributions will be a factor too. |
Re: Dyson or McCants?
McCants has a future in this league whereas Dyson had a great career. I really think McCants could be used well if Gibbs would suit him up. He's the one receiver Ramsey has had for a long time and they really seem to have a rapport. If he makes your QB confortable that alone is worth something.
|
Re: Dyson or McCants?
Right now, I would probably go with McCants. He did drop some balls in carolina last week but he really is the only big receiver we have. he has showed that he can play and i think he can also add another deep threat. lining up in the slot, he can go down the middle and make those 15-20 yd cathes and take a hit (something he did well in his only real playing time last year against the bengals). dyson is a solid WR but he is injury prone and is getting old. this will definitely be a battle to watch during the rest of preason and i am looking for one of these guys to really show us something as they get a good amount of playing time to make the decision easier.

Re: Dyson or McCants?
This is another one that can only be answered if we see these guys with the first team, against the first defense, when we need a possession receiver (like in te endzone).
That means we need to have Ramsey get them into the redzone. Lets hope things start to click on Friday. |
Re: Dyson or McCants?
mccants still has his right hand in a cast or something from the baltimore scrimmage.
|
Re: Dyson or McCants?
I think it will be Dyson. If I recall, Gibbs never liked McCants because he didn't practice well.
|
Dyson is too old, Mccants has superior talent, and size. My problem with him is that he never seemed to really care about his lack of playing time...which translates to not caring about his football career.
|
Re: Dyson or McCants?
I have just one question about McCants: With only 53 roster spots, how do you suit up a guy whose no your # 1-2-3-4-receiver, and does not play ST either?

I don't think you can suit him up if he doesn't play ST. Besides he dropped two balls on Saturday. I think the Skins are tired of counting on his potential. This will probably be it for him with this team unless he really shines. But to be honest with you I need to see more of both of them to cone to any real conclusion. |

Re: Dyson or McCants?
This guy will be gone.
He is thinking outside of the box, before he's really in the box. Sad to say but Kevin Dyson will make the team before Dmac. Dmac hopefully has made enough money so far to find something to do for a career. He doesn't seem to have the drive to become a great WR. And lacks real talent to be a r&B star. My advice is to get yer head in the game quickly or you'll be selling cars... Come on Dmac make us once believers right and us arm chair coaches wrong!!! |
Re: Dyson or McCants?
Jacobs is hurt again?
|
Re: Dyson or McCants?
And the last horse crosses the finish line... ;)
|
Re: Dyson or McCants?
Dmac will win the spot. He is younger, bigger, and Dyson is more injury prone. Both of them do have a knack for the clutch catch...which is what a big WR is for.
Plus I specifically remember seeing McCants on SPECIAL TEAMS last week against Carolina, so that whole issue should be dead... |
Re: Dyson or McCants?
Being seen on special teams is VERY different from PERFORMING on special teams...
