Carolina not happy with Gardner?

Did anyone else catch the little tidbit from Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-notebook092105&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

"Carolina Panthers wide receiver Rod Gardner was active over the weekend after sitting out the team's loss to New Orleans. But his progress is still slow, and hopes of him having an early impact in the passing game have evaporated.
There have been grumbles from within the organization that Gardner wasn't putting in the necessary time off the field to learn Carolina's offense, and that his Week 1 scratch was intended as a message. Currently listed as the No. 4 receiver, Gardner is going to be used only in running situations until the Panthers feel he's ready to contribute. "

Until he's ready to contibute that fantastic new dimension of dropping balls and playing soft to the gameplan?

Are they making him a running back? :laughing-

So far we are ahead of the game with our changes at WR. Patten has a few catches but I feel he will just improve. Moss for Coles right now looks like we made a great trade. I'm sure cloes will get his numbers up but hey Moss just won a game being 50/50. Thats 50% him and 50% Brunell.

I never thought the guy was a slacker. I just thought he wasn't any good. Glad to see he is not gracing us with his stellar work ethic.

he could play backup QB. He was close to leading out team in passing touchdowns last year...which only seems like an accomplishment if you dont look at how few touchdowns we had.

I thought he was going to explode with Carolina?

I always wanted Moss over Gardner. What is telling is how Schotenheimer has demonstrated no interest at all in him, since becoming the Coach in SD. They need receivers more than anyone.

Any word on Patten's condition? I saw him limp off the field late in the game on Monday night, but never heard anything else about it.

carolina must be:banghead: over it and now the danster and company look pretty:cool-smil what a differance an off season makes.they ought to call him mr night life. that's what his issue is, out all night can't play during the day.

I agree. Schotty always seemed pretty loyal to players he liked - I think he had a bunch of ex-Skins on his roster at one point. But even with no good young receivers to speak of, he wasn't interested in Gardner.

huh? if you're looking for a Gardner supporter here you definitely won't find one. in fact if the front office got it really right, we'd never have Gardner in the first place. either way, there's no beef with the front office anymore now that Gibbs runs the personnel show. stop tryin to stir up trouble.

Re: Carolina not happy with Gardner?

our wide receiver core is improved, Moss averaging 28 yards a pass, what the hell is that?, He is gonna break 1000 yards easy this season but i am pulling for upwards 1250, he is 1/5 of the way there. Big Big numbers for a wide receiver in our offense. As long as we win baby

There were a few people that thought we should keep Gardner around another year and wait for his "breakout" season. After all, he did have one 1000 yard season a few years back.

If you're going to take every freakin post I put on this board personal, do us all a favor and add my username to your ignore list. I'm getting tired of having to put up with the paranoia from you, wondering if I might be saying something about you, everytime I wish to post something to the board. This is already the second time I've asked you to do so. I'm not going to get harassed by you and have every freakin' thread turned into a debate about my posting. Ignore me or deal with it.

B, my comment had nothing to do with you or me. i would've said the same thing to anybody. wasn't personal at all. your "hmm?" statement had no position and was clearly just there to antagonize or stir up a response from some other phantom position that i don't know exists.

i really wanted to know, what was that statement about??

Can't we all just get along? this is a message board...ideas, thoughts, etc may come off differently to others. Not everyone reads into things the same. No use in dragging it out over several messages. If you want to settle it, take it to the PMs.

BOT, Gardner is certainly showing his true colors, but I think if he was still a Skin, he'd be producing. I am a Gardner supporter, but obviously the Skins went in a different direction. Business decision. He can still be a good receiver, however he won't be a 1 or 2 in Carolina, and that could be weighting his decision to slack. I wouldn't be surprised to see him released.

didn't know you guys existed, what about Gardner was to like? he wasn't blazing and he wasn't clutch. er, or he was only clutch but not regular enough, you know what i'm saying.

Re: Carolina not happy with Gardner?

Im still a gardner supporter. i think he will be fine. why so much hate for former skins? its getting a little rediculous. moss isnt going to average 30yards per catch all year(unless he gets hurt) and gardner isnt going to be inactive all year.

its funny no one mentioned that chad morton returned a punt for the giants last week or that bailey beat SD on an interceptioin return for TD(with a dislocated shoulder). how about Gus' 300 yard day for miami?

different players fit different systems. our system last year couldnt win if they had Montana, rice, monk, swann, Payton and the hogs.

we caught a glimpse of what Gibbs wants to do, but im still cautiously optimistic that we will be able to execute it with the players we have.

the hate is usually simply because they AREN'T skins, but like i still support Stephen Davis because he was productive here and helped us a lot. he did everything he was supposed to here. Morton and Frerotte didn't and Champ bad mouthed the franchise hence the hate.

system or not, Gardner just dropped too many catchable passes for us, the most basic thing he's supposed to do so there's no love lost

Actually all of those were mentioned at some point, Champ's INT, Morton's return and Gus's big game in wk 1.

i'm not sure what last years offensive system has to do with morton, bailey and gus. morton was on special teams while bailey and gus weren't even on our team last year.

believe you me, if we had montana, rice, monk, swann, payton and the hogs on the team last year, the skins would have won the superbowl. yes you need a good system but you also need good players, gardner is NOT a good player..........he pretty much sucks.
