Jets In The Market For Qb!
Well it sounds like what is coming out of Jets camp is both of their QB's are going to be out a while, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they inquire about Ramsey, that would be a great fit for both the Jets, and Patrick.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
sounds tempting for some early draft choices, but Ramsey is needed here right now as backup, Brunell WILL get smacked down this season and Jason Campbell isn't near ready yet to lead this offense
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Unless they offer a high draft pick, I don't see the Redskins getting rid of PR until the offseason. Like illdefined said, Brunell could go down at anytime and Campbell is definetly not ready for live action.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Time to add Brooks Bollinger to my fantasy team

You speak the truth! Even if Brunell does turn out to be the secret, bastard brother, who's real name is Mark Montana, odd's are he can't stay healthy all season who's long. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
well considering we have almost NO draft picks next year, and its allready been stated, if brunell goes down for any period of time they will "imediately" make the transition to jason cambell...why not? i lvoe patrick, but lets try to get all hes worth outta him
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
If somebody were to offer a 1st rounder I think the Skins would have to think long and hard about it even if it means leaving a rookie behind Brunell... but I doubt that would happen.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Gibbs already "allegedly" stated that if Brunell were to go down for a significant period of time, Campbell, not Ramsey would be the guy. I dont know if thats true or not, but if it is, I'd say trade Ramsey if we got a good offer (2nd round or better). I love Ramsey, and will cheer for him anywhere pretty much, but its obvious his days here are over so if the Jets offered somthing, we'd have to look into it.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
if they offer a 1st it would be tough to walk away from it. anything less i would say walk away from it.i 'm not soo totaly convinsed his time here is over. thing's in the nfl can turn on a dime.i am glad i don't have to make the call.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
I do not see Gibbs trading Ramsey so early in the season If Brunell goes down and we are winning I would think Ramsey would be the guy. If we are loosing games Campbell will be our guy to get him ready for next year. I think it would be hard to get a 1st for Ramsey when our coach is not very high on him. It would almost be funny to see Ramsey throwing to Coles only to have him drop the ball.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
I just think that Ramsey should get a real opportunity somewhere else, he owe's us nothing, Gibbs has no confidence in him, he's treated him like a redheaded stepchild from day 1, so why would he have any interest in keeping him? Even if Brunell goes down Gibbs has made it clear he can't win with Ramsey, so why even bother? Might as well look to the future with Campbell, that is why we gave up next years draft isn't it? Orton is starting, Manning started last season, I don't see why Campbell wouldn't be in there if Brunell goes down, this is the new NFL, rookies who's teams invest heavily in start their first year, Campbell should be no exception!
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Wonder how LC would feel if Ramsey went to the Jets.

I doubt they'd think long and hard at all. They'd jump on that in a heart beat. I think a 2nd rounder would cause them to think about it. I don't think they'd take lower than a 2nd. |

on second thought i think you're right, for a first or second, they would risk having a rookie backup. partly because Ramsey himself would be on his knees BEGGING them to do it. |

when is the trade deadline anyway?

I would like to see Ramsey get an oppurtunity elsewhere, as well. He has a lot of heart. Tough guy! However, the only thing Gibbs did TO him is give him the same oppurtunity he gave the other QB's on staff. If Gibbs, picking up Brunell, or drafting Campbell rained on PR's parade, or traumatized him so he could not adequately perform. That does make him appear rather fragile for this line of work. If that is true, he did not stand a chance in the every day game stress in the NFL not to mention crunch games. In light of recent events, obviously Gibb's made the right moves, and I applaud him for it! I listened to an interview with yesterday with Doug Wililams. To paraphrase, "Joe Gibbs ALWAYS made decisions based on the best move for the Redskins organization". "Never anything personal". "I did not agree with him benching me, as I thought I was the best QB". "All players think the same thing". but even then, he did what was best for the organization". I for one have been SERIOUSLY enjoying the feeling of KICKING the BOYS ASS (after an eternal drought)! Thankyou JOE for that feeling |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
theres no question we shoudl accept a 1st rounder if we got an offer for one. hell i think we'd be lucky to get a 3rd round pick
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
er Hog1, i think most agree keeping Brunell in so long last year wasn't the best thing for the team. i'm sure it was meant to be, but it showed Gibbs gave 'his' QB around a thousand more chances than he ever gave Ramsey.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Er ill..., do you fault him as well, for learning from his mistakes?
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
If the Jets offer a second round pick for Ramsey, Dan Snyder should personally bicycle Patrick up to the Meadowlands and hand him over with a green and white bow strapped around him.
Who says we have to go with Jason Campbell if Brunell gets hurt? There's got to be some washed up veteran out there who can cram Gibbs' playbook in a pinch. Where's Kent Graham these days? |

I agree 100%, offiss. This may be our window of opportunity to get the most value for PR. One thing is for sure, Pennington may not be 100% for the rest of the year. Jason Campbell should have enough of the playbook down to feel comfortable if he's needed at this point. I don't think the Jets can't wait until week six to start wheeling and dealing for a QB for a couple of reasons: By the time any new QB get's acclimated to their system, it may be around week 9 or 10. Which leads to the second reason, their playoff hopes may be out of the window at that point. If they are going to make a move and stay in the hunt, Baltimore too I might add, they should do something before week four in my opinion. We'll see how all this shakes out! |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Er ill..., do you fault him as well, for learning from his mistakes?
Brunell is now starting for us, how do you figure he learned from his mistake? To bad Gibbs didn't give Ramsey some real playing time to see if he learns from his mistakes, we all know WR's running the wrong routes is a Ramsey mistake not Gibbs, right!
However, the only thing Gibbs did TO him is give him the same oppurtunity he gave the other QB's on staff.
I have to ask what team have you been watching, Ill has already pointed out that Gibbs stayed with Brunell 9 games last season, which was probably 5 games to long, Ramsey? 19 minutes, I hope the 9 didn't confuse you, the 9 represents minutes not games. Funny how Ramsey won the job last season over Brunell in regular season competition, only to lose it in 19 minutes this season of regular season competition, as most scouts and coaches will tell you, pre-season doesn't mean jack when it comes to evaluation of teams and players, there are to many varibles that can lead to a players success, or failure, in a pre-season game. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
this would be the most oprotune time to trade ramsey. he value will not get any better at the end of the season not starting, and a first rnd would be nice to have.

How could he have felt bringing in Ramsey would help when he played worse than Brunell in preseason. Ramsey had several chances, last preseason, the game against the Giants with 3 ints, last seven games with another 8 int, this preseason with 4int to 2tds, first game 1int 2fumbles. I just did not see Ramsey take advantage of any opportunities. Brunell is not much better but I have the feeling Ramsey would not have pull out the victory in Dallas. I hope Ramsey can find a team and has great success in the NFL and its time for the skins to move forward.

Laveranues was supposedly a big fan of Ramsey. However, I don't see this thing working out. The Jets are not going to shell out a high draft pick for someone when they have so much invested in Chad Pennington. Plus, the Redskins are reluctant to trade Ramsey. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Er ill..., do you fault him as well, for learning from his mistakes?
again, which mistake is that? that's the whole point of the huge controversy here in Redskins land, whether or not Gibbs learned enough from last year. Brunell is right back in there and the offense looks awfully familiar. and i stress the word awfully. no one can disagree that as bad as Ramsey may have sucked, Brunell sucked worse. Ramsey looked further out and made some real TDs along with those INTs with the same sub-par receivers. many of us wanted to see what Ramsey could have done with Moss in the regular season, but whatever reason Gibbs doesn't have *a fraction* of the patience for him that he has for Brunell. sucks for Ramsey and us fans sick of the ol' dink/dunk offense, but we can't do anything about it and want to see what comes next. if Ramsey can get us a draft choice back for any of the last overzealous trades we did, i won't cry too hard (well depends on the draft choice). look i'm praying night and day that Gibbs spent the bye week focusing on the one thing that IS different from last year: Santana Moss. i'm crossing my bloody fingers that he really changes the gameplan to make those occasional long passes less of a token (or emergency plan) and more of a key part of the offense. if he doesn't, and we look just like 2004 again, then yeah, i'll wonder what Gibbs learned last year. wouldn't you? |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
I would take a 3rd round draft pick and a CB. Or a straight up trade for John Abraham or Shaun Ellis. I don't see a later part happening though.

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
Just kind of an afterthought here...
...but isn't it funny how quickly all the allegiances to Ramsey changed when Brunell won the Cowboys game? Now we're like, "Hmmm, what can we get for Ramsey?" |

Pennington is hurt in a bad way. in a nervous, semi-permanent way unfortunately. even healthy though, Chris Carter said it best "he packs a water gun". i think Ramsey would be a real nice pickup for them, for anybody really (except in the NFC East booo), with the water cannon he's got. |

The other thing about Chad's injury, maybe it's been mentioned, but it takes significant time off to heal properly...and unfortunately for him the offseason may not have been enough time....and surely regular season won't help if continues to take snaps. |

It has nothing to do with Gibbs, just everything to do with the Redskins. I still dont like Gibbs decision making with Ramsey, I still belive Ramsey is the best QB on our team, and until he really proves for at least a few games that he dosent suck, I think Brunell still does. However, I also belive that we have seen the last of Ramsey as a Redskin. Therefore, instead of just letting him leave, I figure we mine as well get somthing in return for him. If it were up to me though, Ramsey would be starting vs Seattle this week. |

Gibbs hates Ramsey. so we're dealing with it, what can we get for him? we're skins fans first, then Ramsey fans. why don't we just ban the R-word here unless you've hated him from the beginining. |

give them what they want for abraham. what ever they want
Really though i would do it for a number 2 pick, but nothing less. I don't really access trades well, i always think that something will happen but this time i just don't think that we are gonna trade ramsey, i just don't think we are gonna do that. |
