SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
Here's a link to a Si.com article about how the remaining undefeated teams will fare. Guess who they have doing the worst?
LINK Here's the money quote... "Washington Redskins (2-0) -- The Redskins' defense is nasty. But I'd be surprised if the offense ended the season ranked any higher than 26th. Their schedule gets tough in a hurry, with trips to Denver and Kansas City looming. And put down Washington's next game against Dallas as a loss. Chance They'll Make Playoffs: 30 percent" I will admit that we are not on the same level as Indy, but a 30 percent chance?!?!?! No respect I tell you. The worst part is his Dallas quip. He forgets that we beat them IN DALLAS. Your Thoughts? |

Thank you. I realize that our 6-10 record last year is reason enough for people to doubt us, but we can't seen to catch the benefit of the doubt that other teams seem to get. Any ideas why? Is it Snyder? |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
Not that I think we're going to lose, but I think we have the best CHANCE to lose this week of all the unbeatens. Tampa gets detroit, Indy gets TN, and the Bengals get the Texans. We have the hardest opposing team coming our way. Until we show we have an offense capable of scoring some points we won't get any respect. If our offense stays this anemic I say that a 30% chance is pretty good. We need to put points up.

Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
It seem's people are making judgements about us not having watched Brunell for the last 4 minutes against Dallas, how anyone could pick against us after that performance is beyond me? Don't they know that Brunell is now a totally different QB than he was a year ago? I guess none of them saw Brunell in the pre-season. I also don't believe they really know what Portis did while playing in denver, coming out of denver he was on pace to break every rushing record known to mankind, even last year with us he had one of the great seasons a Redskin ever had over 1300 yards, averaging a little over 3 yards a carry, anyone can get 1300 with a 4.5 average, Portis did it the old school way, how many backs have what it takes to gain over 1300 yds averaging 3 yds a carry, Portis has that kind of toughness, if only they could see through their bias to make fair and objective predictions, don't they know Gibbs is concealing most of our game plan until we really need it? Once he deciedes to unleash it boy are these experts going to look stupid! I can't wait! :biggthump

Pasta Belly!! That's funny. I thought that Dallas faced a lot of haters in the media, but wow! does the sports writing fraternity hate the Skins or what!! maybe it is Snyder. |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
I have to agree, 30% is a generous statement. For out team to earn respect and be feared on offense as much as we are defensively, points need to be put up on the board, I still do not think that Brunell is our answer. We cant seriously forgive that man for pulling a rabbit out of his ass the last few minutes of the Dallas game (as sweet at it was) what about the remaining 3 other quarters? I did like seeing how much he improved during the pre-season, thats the man I want leading my team to victory lane. I'd also like to see Portis run more on the outside, give the man some blocking and let him earn his paycheck. Its still early in the season, I see that we are improving and I hope it continues.

We could do without the tinge of sarcasm. We get it, you love to dish on your favorite team. To each his own, but I don't get it when fans are so pessimistic. I guess you could argue it's being realistic in a way, but what fun is that when you're talking about your favorite football team. I can't speak for everyone, but football is a type of escape from my everyday real life reality. How fun is it to doubt and second guess every move that your so called favorite team makes? I have enough doom and gloom in my normal life, I don't need to carry it over to my hobbies and things I enjoy. Just my 2 cents, I guess I'll never understand what joy there is in crapping on your team. |

Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
I actually laughed at the sarcasm...don't be hatin!! I think offiss is just giving us a realistic reminder that our offense is anemic, our special teams needs to be vastly improved, and we got pretty lucky in the last game. That being said, for some reason Seattle doesn't scare me. Not having any decent draft pics next year scares me, Seattle this week does not. I think we'll be 3-0 and the talk of the league next week. That being said, if we don't find some offense, and soon, we will do a swan dive later this season.
|
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
Actually our special teams are pretty good coverage-wise. I'm waiting to see some big returns however.

Now if we would have picked up a droped punt and scored and then an IT and scored that would have been luck. Moss went to Gibbs with taking a route down field and it worked. They ran the play again and it worked. We won that game with skill it just took 55min to find the right play.

Good point. Those two plays to Moss were nowhere near "luck". We played with heart and hung in the game until the end. We won, and thats the whole point. Like Herm Edwards says "you play to win the game". Simple and plain. |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
be realistic to why the *media* says this stuff about us. seriously folks, if we weren't homers, what would you think of our team?
any time there's been big hopeful changes and hype in a redskins offseason, any media person who ever took the bait would get seriously burned. no one's going to take that bait again, especially with a 1st week QB switch to the worst QB in the NFL last season. objectively, everyone knows (and saids) our D is good but that only got us 6 wins last year and not enough has changed in THEIR eyes to think any different. PLEASE STOP BEING SURPRISED OR ANGERED by these media guys, rankings and graphic omissions. we're the fans and they are the analysts, as such they have absolutely no analytical reason to say anything better about us. nothing but regular offensive TDs (and not FGs) will change anyone's opinion of the Skins (some fans included), and no, Brunell's 4th quarter heaves aren't regular. though hopefully they will come to be. |

Man, I watched the 4th quarter of the Ring of Horror Game again last night. Nick Novack should've received a game ball, because if he doesn't knock that kick returner (was it Tyson Thompson?) out of bounds, then the guy at the very least gets them into field goal range and it would've been OUR Ring of Horror Game. I have been disappointed with special teams thus far. |

being left out of an empirical stat graphic is one thing, being expected by the media to stay undefeated amoung the top teams is another thing entirely |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
there was a poll on si, it said what undefeated team had the worst chance of making the playoffs, Obviously it was us but over 85% I believe voted for us, now that is pretty bad expecially when there are 4 choices, we are the worst undefeated team and surprise surprise we haven't even won as many games as those other undefeated teams, 30% chance of playoffs seems about what i think the media should be giving us. I don't even pass the 50% marker by much and i am a homer, that is why i am happy when carolina, atlanta, and the saints lose because i think that we are in a strong ass division and it will be hard for any team to make it out alive. IF and I MEAN A BIG BIG IF that we were at the same level as the cowgirls and e-girls we only have a 33% chance of winning the division. That isn't great so we should be looking for a wildcard.
I do however think we will be going to the playoffs |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
I like the Redskins as the underdog. Let people and the media hate on us. As long as we keep winning we'll be further toward our ultimate goal.
|
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
Let us be hated on let us be the underdog.
|
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
Just curious......after the first two games last year, what was the percentage chance they were giving the Chargers to make the playoffs? And what was the percentage chance all the "experts" were giving the Chiefs to still go deep into the playoffs?
Seriously guys, don't even bother paying attention to idiots like this guy that wrote this article. Use it as fuel to get pissed? Sure, ok. But please don't put any stock in anything these "experts" and journalists and analysts say. As for the Seahawks: Aren't they like one of the worst road teams in the NFL over the past couple years? I'm really not that worried about them. |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
i agree with daseal's first post. imo, it goes like this: more points = more respect.
|
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
We will continue to get bad pub (for all it's worth) until we start winning football games with authority, and not just getting by. All these so called experts are judging us as a team that only averages 12 points a game and I guess they just can't see us continuing to win that way, and I guess most fans can't either.
I happen to think we're going to win every game we play, love being the underdog, and also love playing the best competition with their best players available. When we have a winning record under these circumstances we can feel good that we're where we are because we will have earned it. Let the critics continue to be critical, and let us continue to win games and we'll see who has the last laugh. "Winning" is the cure-all, because when we keep winning there won't be a lot of negative going on. |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
we will go to play offs our
offense will catch with our defense and a 10-6 record will propel us to play offs |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
i agree with daseal's first post. imo, it goes like this: more points = more respect.
I'd say more wins = more respect |
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
media wise i think it's both. how many points in those wins. if we scored 30pts a game even with just two wins the Skins would be considered a 'force'. winning close games in the low scoring fashion we've won them just makes us a question mark to them. media won't even look in our direction unless we score some square TDs, but again why do people care what Lenny, Peter King, Dr.Z or any of these guys think?
|
Re: SI.com Article, "Which Unbeaten Team Will Fizzle?" Guess who they pick?
The bottom line in all this is that we are 2-0 right now.
No poll or Press can take that away. We have to cheer hard and make it 3-0 by Sunday night. Don't let the Hawks get off one play in peace. Don't even let them kick an extra point in peace. Go Skins. Picture George Allen and say this: "95,000 fans together can't lose." Keep repeating it. If you can't say it out loud ... think it. Don't think about anything else. I love you all ... ALLREDSKIN. |
