MLB playoffs.

Well I am going to the Angels vs.Yankees game in about 2 hr's.GO ANGELS!! It might not be football. But Baseball playoff games are a blast.I sure hope that the Halos can pull this out. It's always nice to beat the "Evil Empire".

Anyone else going to or watching any of the playoff games?

I don't watch baseball a whole lot. I just want the Yankees to lose.

Yes I'm definitely watching.

GO YANKS!!!!!!!!

I'll definitely be watching, baseball playoffs never disappoint. Could this finally be the White Sox' year?

It'd be kind of cool to see either Clemens take on Boston in the World Series, or Clemens and Pettite take on New York

Re: MLB playoffs.

I love baseball playoffs, they get me going good.

I'm a big Cardinals fan, so I'm rooting for them hardcore. I'd like to see them play the Yankees or have a rematch with the Redsox. Theres nothing like October baseball in New York and Boston.

I think it will be Bos/NY ALCS, Hou/Stl NLCS, with the Yanks/Cards playing in the series.

Damn, the White Sox just went up 5-0 on the BoSox in the FIRST!

Mussina came through tonight. He's banged up, but gave the Yankees what they needed tonight. Pressure is on the Halos. Randy is pitching Game 3. Tomorrow is a must win for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Re: MLB playoffs.

Last night sucked. Colon blew it. Lackey is picthing tonight for the Halos.I agree RedRockSkins. This game is HUGE for us.With Johson going against Washburn on friday in N.Y we really need this one. I think they can get it done. They have to get it done. I just hope I can get off work before 4:00 so I can get some tailgatting in.. If the Angels don't win tonight this might be my last baseball game untill March. :Flush: How sad.

Riggo44 10-07-2005 07:54 PM

Re: MLB playoffs.

Well we won on Wednesday. If The Halos can some how beat the Big Unit tonight then the Yankees will be in a bad spot. The Angels need a least one win in N.Y so that we can play game 5 at home on Sun. I like are chances if we can get back home for game 5.

Go CALIFORNIA ANGELS!!!!

Did the Red Sox forget they actually had to play these games? The White Sox wasted no time with them

It's official, we're in a bad spot. Randy deserved every boo that came out of Yankee Stadium tonight. A pathetic performance.

I was amazed to see Garret Anderson snap out of his hitting funk like he did with the 3-run home run, a triple, and a single. It's going to be refreshing if it winds up being the White Sox vs the Angels to make the WS as I think it's good for baseball to have new teams making it to the championship series instead of the same teams each year like in college football or basketball or baseball in past years.

I can't say I'm rooting for it (the Fox execs are crapping their pants right now), but if they Angels go through RJ and Chacon (Moose again if necessary), then they deserve it. Still very disgusted with RJ's performance. While the Yankees did come back, the loss falls on RJ's shoulders. He was brought here for this very game. BTW RJ in the playoffs is 5-0 AGAINST the Yankees and 2-8 vs other opponents.

Moving forward, The Yankees have dropped their last 3 at YS in the playoffs and the last 2 years have lost elimination games in YS. The Angels need to really go for the kill in YS, though Chacon has been huge for us. I like our chances in Anaheim better, even with Colon on the mound. Moose was removed early in Game 1 just in case of Game 5 and Wang could be used in Game 5 also.

Re: MLB playoffs.

I'm pretty disapointed my team didn't do anything to dispute the talk that they didn't deserve to be in the playoffs, but then again facing the Cardinals can do that to a team. still happy to see them do well again though and hopefully this will help make it more likely for them to spend money on free agents.

Damn gonna be a tough choice. Baseball should end just in time before MNF starts getting good. Great night for sports!

My props to the Angels. They came through when they had to. I'm trying to get on my Yankee board, but the server is just jammed right now. This board lights up after a Skins lost, but the Yankees being eliminated in the 1st round will let's just say, really tax the board with a bunch of angry Yankee fans.

Ok, Skins you got 100% of my attention now. Glad to see I have a lot to look forward to this year.

Thanks redrock-skins. That was a great series. It really could have gone either way. I give Joe Torre huge props for what he did with that team this year. Some one had to lose.
Now I just hope we can get a win in Chicago.
Go ANGELS!!!!!!!!!

No problem. You got one right away in Chicago. I had a feeling whoever won last night, would win today despite the fatigue.

Yea I was jazzed to get that win last night. If we can get a win tonight then look out. I have tic's for Friday and Sat. I can't wait for this weekend. Playoff baseball is the best.

Hopefully, for your sake, the Angels won't follow their recent trend of losing series when they take game 1.
Hopefully, for your sake, the Angels won't follow their recent trend of losing series when they take game 1.
:confused-
And what trend is that? We always lose game won. Last year we got swept by Boston. And in 2002 we lost game one to the Yankees,Twins,Giants and still won the hole thing. This is the first time since Scioscia became manager that we won game one. This might not be good. But I would be delighted to know what"recent" trend your referring to.

Re: MLB playoffs.

I saw on Sportscenter this morning that when the Angels LOSE game 1, they go on to win the series but when they WIN game 1, they go on to lose the series (it's happened twice). So what I meant was, since they won game 1 of this series, if history repeats itself, they'll lose the series. If I can find the stats they showed on sportscenter I'll post them.

CARDINALS, BABY!!! Game 1 Tonight!

Re: MLB playoffs.

Did the Angels get robbed last night, or what? Home plate ump made the wrong call, then did not clearly signal no catch. I'm surprised Josh Paul didn't get tossed, because I would have argued with the ump until I did.

skinznut 10-13-2005 02:38 PM

Re: MLB playoffs.

I don't know. When I looked at the replay, it looked like the ball hit the dirt first which made the call correct but usually when the ump makes the gesture of punching the guy out, he's out. A totally screwed up play that cost the Angels the game and possibly the series.

BDBohnzie 10-13-2005 04:12 PM

Re: MLB playoffs.

I saw the replay a bunch of times this morning. From what I see, his mitt most certainly hits the dirt, but the ball is clearly in the pocket of his mitt. If it had hit the dirt first, he would have had to cover it up, or smother it.

SmootSmack 10-13-2005 04:28 PM

Re: MLB playoffs.

When it's that close though, the catcher should have tagged the batter as a precaution. Don't just assume he struck out.

skinsfanthru&thru 10-13-2005 06:46 PM

Re: MLB playoffs.

While I think the catcher should have played it safe, the onus in this situation rests on the Umpire to clearly signal one way or another that the play was still live instead of backing off the fact that he signaled peirzinki(sp?) out. He has admited that he didn't say anything like they normally do that play hadn't stopped and he definitely shouldn't have made the closed fist gesture until the player had been tagged out. He said that that is his strike out gesture, but as they just showed on PTI, earlier in the game the umpire was in a similar situation with an angel at bat but he didn't make the same closed fist motion until after the player had been tagged. It's a big f-up on the angel's catchers part but in my opinion it's a vastly bigger f-up by the umpire for giving the angel players a premature signal of the chi sox player being out.
hopefully this doesn't spoil what looked to be an awesome matchup this series.

redrock-skins 10-13-2005 10:56 PM

Re: MLB playoffs.

The umpiring has been horrible in the playoffs. That was an atrocious call last night. I hope this puts more scrutiny on the umps. The calls on Cano in the last series was BS too. If the Angels lose the series, they really do have a gripe. Still you have to get out there and play and try and put it behind you.

BDBohnzie 10-14-2005 09:56 AM

Re: MLB playoffs.

While I agree that the catcher should make the tag, if you're behind the plate, and you know you catch it, your first instinct is to roll the ball back to the mound. Pierzynski took off because he didn't hear anything...and I think the umpire made a judgment call at that point, hence the out call and then the reversal of fortune.

If anything, the home plate umpire should have pointed to the 2nd base umpire to see if he saw it or not...because he's quite obvious that he didn't see it properly.

Re: MLB playoffs.

Well I'm off in 30 min. Can the clock move any slower?! I need to run past the store grab some beer and dogs. Meet up with my Budies and fly up to Anaheim Stadium for the game. The Angels need this win. If we can win tonight I will be feeling pretty good about are chances.
This Morning I was trying to get World Series tic's. All I could get were 2 for game 7. It might be a long shot. But if it happens it will be a great game.It only cost me 316 bucks for a pair of obstructed view field box. :( And that's face value.
Go ANGELS!!!

both divisional series r winding up being pretty pathetic. I thought the Angels would do better and I can't believe all of these injuries absolutely destroying the Cardinals.
