Official Week 5 Power Rankings Thread

ESPN has the Redskins staying at #11 after the loss to the Broncos. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking

Anyone else know how other "experts" and media outlets are ranking the Redskins? If you do, post here.

wow broncos number 2, we played a high powered team sunday
we are number 5 in the NFC, we also play 3 of the 4 ahead of us in the regular season, we need to play well this year

That Guy 10-11-2005 01:35 PM

Re: Official Week 5 Power Rankings Thread

weird how that victory and giving up 400+ yards in the rain jumped the broncos all the way to #2... I guess we had to lose to get respect. Man, that's odd.

Re: Official Week 5 Power Rankings Thread

wow very cool we are getting respect, these power rankings don't tell the truth about how good a team is but they are an indication of league respect and us moving up after a loss is a great indication of us getting respect. NUmber 6 wow, only behind the bucs in the nfc

Bozzy 10-11-2005 01:58 PM

Re: Official Week 5 Power Rankings Thread

I think #6 is a bit too high and #11 is a bit too low. I'd say #8, putting the Eagles and Bengals ahead of us.

SmootSmack 10-11-2005 01:58 PM

Re: Official Week 5 Power Rankings Thread

Why would you put the Eagles ahead of us? We have a better record, their defense is abysmal, and they have no running game.

If they get manhandled again, they won't be ahead of us.... but mcnabb and owens are still great.

Bengals because of that marvin lewis D.

Bozzy 10-11-2005 02:05 PM

and i put them ahead of us because we have been terrible in the red zone.

Broncos at #2?

Beating the worst 3-0 team in NFL history moved them up that high?!

That ranking is ridiculous...I live in Denver and I want to move now...The fans here make me sick....They all left the game early on Sunday b/c of the rain...What kind of crap is that..I need to get back near some real fans quick...anybody got a room I can rent back there?

untill we can "handle the scoreboard", we shouldnt be in the top ten. and the eagles still should be in the top ten be cause they have McNabb, owens and westbrook and are still the defending NFC champs.

i love how sportsline moved us up when we lost...that doesnt really make sense.

and now our team is for real after losing a close game, but winning 3 close games in a row makes us a fluke

So one bad loss and you're suddenly no longer a top team? That's unrealistic. The Eagles always go on a really hot streak.

4 of the top 11 are nfc east teams, and we're the head dog on cbs... that's a bit nuts. this division was awful last year and according to this 3 of us should be in the playoffs at this rate.

BigSKINBauer 10-11-2005 05:16 PM

only division in the league with 4 teams above .500, last year we were the only division without two at the end

Honestly I expect our 3rd place team to be fighting tooth and nail with either Atlanta or Tampa Bay for that final wild card spot. I think we have a chance of sending three teams.

9. Philadelphia (3-2; 3): After a draining win in Kansas City and a lopsided loss in Dallas, the timing couldn't be better for some rest and reflection.

10. N.Y. Giants (3-1; unchanged): With his red-hot arm rested, Eli Manning gets to see if he can succeed where Donovan McNabb couldn't against the Cowboys defense.

11. Washington (3-1; 8): The Redskins hope to continue the trend of Kansas City opponents exposing the Chiefs defense.

12. Dallas (3-2; unranked): Fortunately for the Cowboys, their fury isn't limited to sideline spats between Drew Bledsoe and Keyshawn Johnson.

wow. all 4 in a row

How can #6 be too high when when we were 1 of 4 undefeated teams leading up to week five? The least amount of points scored and an offense that had gained 447yds. against a so-called 2# team. Please. Not to mention what we did to Denver on all statistics accept the score. I think we have become the team nobody wants to play. The never give up attitude is going to win more games than you can imagine. When was the last time we watched a team strike back after an opponent scored on a turnover?

Giants #5? Redskins #18? What a joke. Ive been checking out the Giants boards and theyre all planning their trips to detroit. I cant believe im saying this but I hope the cowboys demolish them.

I'd be happy for them to demolish the Cow-Whores, then we smach the Giants.

As long as the Redskins win all the divisional games I'll be happy and the team should be set.

I give up on these rankings and analyst, Collin Cowherd and Sean Salisbury ESPN Analyst talking about how the Cowboys could be the best team in the NFC not only the NFC East the damn NFC. They talked about how the Cowboys dominated us, but the Broncos are great and no mention that we dominated them but lost and could be the best in the NFC. It is all about the Giants, Cowboys, and Eagles. I know we talk about it week after week, but this shit just pisses me off that they make the kind of money they do to smoke crack and evaluate teams and try to make the callers sound like fools for saying anything different then their ignorance.

When we were in this situation last year didn't we hear how good teams win these games and bad teams loose these games. Good teams do not loose when they are up by 13 with 4 minutes, but they are the cream of the NFC like I stated in my previous post. I have to LOL at that one also. It is funny how depending on the team your talking about how they justify a loss and a win so differently. Do they think people are idiots and can't figure out that they are talking out their ars!!

I heard that too, I sooooo wanted to call him up but by the time I'd get through the show would be over.

No mention at all for the Skins. They were loving the Dallas D, loving their offense, but no mention that the Skins are one spot behind Dallas in offense at #8 and 5 spots AHEAD of them defensively at #5 compared to Dallas at #10.

The mediots really make me laugh though. After the first 2 weeks they were loving Dallas, once we beat them they were shot back down again, now they're loving them again. I mean c'mon, I understand a lot changes week to week, but some people are so hot and cold with teams it's ridiculous. Dallas is the trendy "best team" this week, next week it will be someone else.

*YAWN*

It was a marketing thing in the 70's propelled by their enormously popular cheerleaders.

I will look for a more definitive answer.

I think the label 'America's Team' is stupid though. The NFL is so popular because each City/region has someone to cheer for or Hate. The Cowboys may be popular, but 'America's Team' is just something to sell t-shirts.

I am so uninterested in the 'serious' power rankings. Really, who cares! That's why we have playoffs!
This ain't college!
