Are we still 3-1?
Unless I slipped into a coma and missed a few weeks, aren't we tied for first in the division and 3-1? All I am seeing is what's wrong with the way Lavar is being used, is Portis better than Bell, more Lavar, are we using Portis correctly.. We're a flawed team, no question, but let's enjoy something positive out of the Redskins rather than always looking for negativity...

Paintrain get used to it man. But I'm with you, no doubt.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
Wow, what a breath of fresh air...
This definitely IS another Ramsey situation. Just chill people, we all were pissed about that move and look how it worked out. 3-1 and if all goes well 4-1 by Sunday. And if we ARE 4-1, remember who comes to town NEXT week... |
Re: Are we still 3-1?
Just because we are 3-1 doesn't mean there aren't any issues that need to be resolved. I for one would like to see us run on 3rd-and-1, improvement on special teams (Dante Hall could have a big day if we don't get our act together). As for LaVar, I really don't care either way.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
:grouphug: :thumb: that's it!!!! seems to me that the team is not the only one who needs to learn how to be a winner. we have to lose this sky is falling attitude.we are coming along as a team. becomeing a force to reckon with. a work in progress. but the media around here is sooooooooooooooo negative that even when there is nothing to be negative about they will make something up.:food-smil :headbange :biggthump thanks for the thread.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
Thats funny I was just getting ready to start a new thread about something positive. If we would have known that the skins would be winning and playing this way one week before the season started we would have been ecstatic. Ok, not evrything is perfect but each week I see our O playing better ball against better teams. So our D gave up some runs but they are playing excelent D again this year. We finaly have a passing game that teams have to respect and we know what that will do for Portis. The D already has the respect and we have not even got rolling this year and to top it off we have one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL that know how to build on an improving team.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
56Fan is right! I think alot of Redskins fans has had so much to complain about for so many years that some will try to find something to complain about even when things are going well.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
Yeah, let the Eagles worry about the sky falling...
|
Re: Are we still 3-1?
I'm not in Doom and Gloom mode, but I do want us to stay in a standing good enough to get us to the playoffs. Like a coach I am alway looking at ways we can improve
|
Re: Are we still 3-1?
I don't think anyone is acting like the sky is falling (although I admit that I haven't read every post). I for one am very happy with how things have turned out. I was even pleased with our loss in Denver (I would have been elated had we won). But, just because we are winning doesn't mean we shouldn't have questions about this or that.
For some strange reason, people think that you must either be 1) completely 100% content with no qualms or questions or 2) livid about everything and pissing on every parade that passes by. Can we be a little more sophisticated and be generally pleased, or displeased, and make criticisms and applaud without being dubbed a blind optimist or pessimist? |
Re: Are we still 3-1?
chad johnson was crying because he is 4-1, he said that 4-1 isn't good enough and that all they do is talk and don't execute. He was actually crying, the reporter was telling him that it seems to be very a very emotional issue for him and then he busted out the towel and wiped his eyes.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
I'm happy about 3-1, but as a long time Skins fan, I remember 3-1 a few years ago, and 7-1 back in '96 followed by a 1-7 collapse to finish out the season. And as much as I fuss about the LaVar issue, the things that worry me more are:
1) How much gas does Brunell have left in the tank? 2) Why has the defense steadily been giving up more yards and yards per carry on the ground, every week? 3) Dante Hall is going to tear us a new one if special teams doesn't get their act together. |
Re: Are we still 3-1?
What has our special teams done coverage-wise that's bad?
|
Re: Are we still 3-1?
Other than the blown coverage against Dallas (in the late 4th quarter), I think the special teams have done pretty well.

That was the specific play I was talking about. They have a tendency to give up that kind of play at the worst possible time, and Dante Hall is possibly the best return man in the league. There's a good chance he could cause some trouble. |
Re: Are we still 3-1?
i guess what i was trying to say is don't freak out,yes , it is true there are some issues,(goalline run offense, getting turnovers and sack and ect..) but what i meant to imply is that don't forget in your analysis, to enjoy and appreciate the progress. you don't get pissy when some one who is learning makes a mistake. you understand and hope they make the changes that need to be made to get better ie.. the skins. an over simplifaction i know but you know what i mean. maybe i misread a tone i was picking up on.sorry for anyone i may have botherd.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
The problem is the Skins have been kicked around for a LONG time now, so anytime we get a little taste of success, I honestly feel that a lot of people don't know how to handle it and they revert back to what they are used to doing, and that's bitching and moaning.
I'm not trying to be a dick, it's just how I see it. |
Re: Are we still 3-1?
It would have been cool to have a site like this back in the 80s just to see the disagreements people had with Gibbs's decisions as he put together Super Bowl teams

Re: Are we still 3-1?
Yeah, but that would never happen, the internet was made in like the 90's i think.

The Eagles are on a downward spiral that was inevitable. The Giants are one lost from a nine game losing streak as usual. And the Cowboys are going to experience the worst ass whipping in two decades when they enter Landover, Md. Just look around the league and tell me what teams in the NFC have shown more potential and desire to win than the Redskins? Remember we are a game behind everyone else and our offense has improved tremendously. We are the most dangerous team right now because we play harder in the fourth quarter. We can close the games that are decided by 3 or more points. So I'm enjoying this time on top and I'm convinced we will remain there. ] |
Re: Are we still 3-1?
Did anyone read the interview where Randy Thomas said that the guys on the team are confident now. He can look around now and he knows that everyone expects to win. He said that last year it wasn't like that, but they got rid of those guys.
It really seems like some of "those guys" keep posting panic threads here. Have confidence guys. I think that our best football is yet to come this year. AND we are already 3-1! |

Re: Are we still 3-1?
back in the eighties we were or i was drunk with the success, just having a winner that could win superbowl was something new, yes, george allen had success but he like schottenheimer never won it all becuase he played not to lose. i don't remember any negative thoughts from back then. it's along season, but i'm enjoying the feel in the air.we've turned the corner. and now we can watch with joy those mouths that have run unchecked begin to be silenced.i know there is more to work on but gibbs has it going again.now thqat we have a strong foundation we sit back and watch the mansion be raised.

You'd probably have people that would give Bobby Beathard all the credit and would make themselves believe that Gibbs was just plugged in there to have a coach standing on the sidelines. I think it's quite accurate to say that some don't know how to handle success. Or at least has forgotten how it feels. |
Re: Are we still 3-1?
I think I might be the most negative person on this site....just ask Malcolmconnection. But I agree with the positive spin here! Althought we lost @ Denver I do like the way we are playing football......we look solid. Not spectacular but solid. This is the biggest game of the year so far. We win this game and go 4-1 with San Fran & Alex Smith coming to town we are looking 5-1 right in the face and also looking good for the playoffs.......yep the playoffs.

Hey skinsguy, I see you're from Basset. I am living in Martinsville right now. Anyway, I see nothing but our team getting better every week. Hopefully by the end of the season Brunell will be chucking em up there like Rypien and Moss will start in the Pro Bowl. Obviously McNabb or Vick will start at QB. I really think we're on to something this year if we can keep our oline and cbs healthy. |

Re: Are we still 3-1?
I personally think that Moss will make the Pro-Bowl regardless of whether or not we have a winning season. The guy leads the NFC in yards per game. Moss has almost 500 yards in four games (or 1/4 of a season). Those are All-Pro, Hall of Fame (not that he should have his bust made yet) numbers.

Re: Are we still 3-1?
I like this thread....Let's be positive! I agree with someone who said something to the effect of we are so used to being disappointed and being negative, we don't know or have forgotten how to be more positive and just enjoy having a winning team.
Of course that doesn't mean everything is perfect and any issues shouldn't be discussed. But we are 3-1 and have won two games (almost 3) that most "experts" (and some fans) had probably put down as losses for the Skins before the season (Dallas and Seattle). Keep that up and playoffs here we come! To anyone too young to remember, welcome to true Joe Gibbs Redskin football! Grind it out and win tough games, building confidence, which leads to dominating games more often and not having to win it in the 4th quarter all the time. Hail to the Redskins!!! :headbange |

I think I look at from the standpoint of teams with losing records get the short end of the stick when it comes to players going to the pro bowl, despite the players' individual play being more than good enough for a pro bowl selection. I mean come on...look at all the Eagles who were in the pro bowl last year...and we could only get one player from our #3 defense to the pro bowl? That's why I say a winning record has alot to do with who goes to the pro bowl and who doesn't. |

For the most part I agree with you. However, Coles went to the Pro Bowl when we went 5-11 and Coles didn't have the kind of numbers that Moss looks like he is going to have. |
