Same Ol' Story
Can't win when you turn the ball over. We shot ourselves in the foot with this one. The first turnover wasn't Brunell's fault necessarily, but the other two turnovers should've never happened. Turnovers and stupid penalities. Until we fix those two problems, it's going to be hard for us to pick up wins against good teams.

Re: Same Ol' Story
yes, I would cut Rock Cartwright to send a message. The benching of one Derrick DOckery is also necessary - he sucks!
|
Re: Same Ol' Story
Horrible game to watch, when the team was looking so strong and they kill a great drive by putting the ball on the turf. Also the early calls were disgusting particularly the 4th down conversion spot.
I'd also like to have seen Arrington on the field on long 3rd downs.... Damn it! One we should have won. |

Cutting Cartwright is not the answer. I remember people wanted to cut Antonio Pierce after he tried to draw Dallas players offsides in a game in 2003. Let's be upset (or even angry), but not hasty. |
Re: Same Ol' Story
Well, if you cut anybody, and the Redskins are not in a situation where they can do so, you'd cut Jimoh. Honestly, he just doesn't belong on the defense. He might be a decent special teams guy, but he either gets beat or he commits the pass interference. We need Springs back in a huge way.
Can't win when you turn the ball over.
We've won 3 games with a negative turnover ratio. Not that I enjoy winning that way, but it is possible. |
Re: Same Ol' Story
Well, let me put it this way, you can't KEEP winning turning the ball over. Especially when you're turning the ball over three times in a game.
|
This Hurts!
Skins self-destructed once again. The O-Line played like shit and Rock should probably get his ass cut! You don't win games with stats god damn it!

not sure of the % number but its something crazy like 10 % of the time you win with 3 or more T.O. s |
Re: Same Ol' Story
well for sure this wasn't one of those times. fucking jared allen, i'll give him his credit, he's a great player, but chris samuels isn't getting paid a shitload of money to have his ass handed to him on a silver platter. a lot of things killed us in this one, but the thing that concerns me is the fact that our defense is giving up big plays, and it's killing us. it killed us last week vs. denver and it killed us in this one too.
|
Re: Same Ol' Story
Jared Allen?! Who the FUCK is that?
Why is it that people you've never heard of have a career day when they play the Redskins? |
Re: Same Ol' Story
Well I mean the guy did have 9 sacks last year, his rookie year. That's the second most in franchise history for a rookie.
Didn't he line up over Jon Jansen on at least one of those sacks? |
Re: Same Ol' Story
Yup, prior to that I'd never heard of him. I'm just embarassed we got lit up by FREAKIN' Kansas City's defense.

If Antonio Brown can get cut after one fumble, so can Cartwright. Cartwright has shown a propensity to fumble in the past. The Carolina game in 2003 - the fumbled on the goal-line while going in for a TD and it cost us the game. Cartwright picked up the first down, he should've protected the ball better. If you have to send a message that turnovers will not be tolerated, and since you can't cut your QB for fumbling, Rock should be made an example of. That said, since everyone loves Rock for his work ethic and character, there's a good chance that we'll be able to re-sign him in a week or so. I know it won't happen, but its a great way to send a message to the players that TOs won't be tolerated. |
Re: Same Ol' Story
With Betts hurt and Portis seemingly limping off the field after each carry, can we really even afford to cut Rock?
|

Hell how could you bench ramsey for turning it over, and not bench brunell for the same thing? I'm not trying to start shit and I agree that Brunell is doing a great job for the most part, but I'm just saying it would be extremely hypocritical to cut cartwright for 1 fumble, and not punish brunell for 2. Even though cartwright's went for a TD, how the hell was he supposed to control that? |

Uh. Jansen got beat by Allen too. Obvisouly, the guy was pumped. I didn't hear a word from you Samuels' bashers when he didn't allow a sack against the all too hyped DE DeMarcus Ware. |

quite simply, no |
Re: Same Ol' Story
quite simply, no
Give Nemo a shot! We didn't sign him not to use him. He showed some balls catching that kickoff too.

Re: Same Ol' Story
I guess we're forgetting that Nemo also had a tendency to fumble in the preseason.

Re: Same Ol' Story
Same old same old out of Brunell, 2 more fumbles today, which does happen, in fact it happens every game with him, Gibbs biggest knock on Ramsey was his TO's and how they will not be tolerated, unless your name is Brunell or Portis, or should I say GIBBS BOY'S. Portis had another stellar running performance today, as usual he run's through the tackles like he's not wearing a cup, at least we started to get him the ball on occasion useing sweeps, I only saw 1 screen to him and the RB screen was there all day, I saw him tackled by the turf monster 3 or 4 times, it doesn't seem the extra weight is helping if a player's shadow is capable of tackling him. Didn't Portis have carreer day's running against the Chiefs before he became a skin? I wonder what happened between now and then? Oh yea Portis had a boo boo on his calf today I forgot.
What are the odd's Portis scores a TD on the ground before the season end's? |
Re: Same Ol' Story
guys it time to start Lavar.......we need that impact player, every great team has one on each team and were lucky we have 3 Taylor, Washington, Arrington.....play him

Yawn! I'll take Brunell over Ramsey at this point. Your argument is weak at best. |

BTW - Brunell had more than his share of fumbles last year too. To paraphrase a line from George Orwell's "Animal Farm" - Every player is equal, but some are more equal than others, right? Brunell is playing far better than he did last year, which isn't really saying much. But those fumbles are becoming an increasing concern. |

Neither took all the blame for being sacked because of poor pass protection.

In my humble opinion, it's pointless to argue what happened a season ago. We might as well sit here and waste our team arguing about how bad Heath Suler played for us back in the mid 90's. And, also in my opinion, Brunell's performance this year is saying quite a bit. |

i think you got the wrong idea of me. I'm not a Samuels basher, in fact i support him and i think he is a top ten tackle in the league. I can understand a bad game, but getting dominated like that shouldn't happen. I understand jansen did give up a sack, but most of Allen's big day came against Samuels. And i know that he probably feels really bad about it, and he'll work harder to correct his mistakes. As for Rock, he's not gonna get cut. Not after the way Gibbs talked about him after the game. Gibbs likes the guy too much to cut him. @Offiss: look, your argument is weak. Brunell hasn't given up two fumbles every game ok, and he's a far better option at qb than Ramsey is. Do you think after 5 games Ramsey would have 9 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, and 1240 yards? i think that's more yards than brunell put up in 9 games last year. |
Re: Same Ol' Story
Brunell is a HUGE bright spot in our offense this year and his play is night and day compared to last year.
I'm not even sure what some of you are suggesting, are you saying we should now go back to Ramsey?? Turnovers are never ok, but Brunell is playing lights out, a 91.5 QB rating, 9 TD vs. only 2 INT!! By the way he has 3 fumbles on the year, so it's definitely not a weekly thing with him, I know it might make your weak argument stronger to stretch the truth a bit, but let's deal with the facts shall we? C'mon, what more do some of you want?? I guess for some it's just really hard to admit you were wrong in questioning the QB switch. It's ok to admit a Hall of Fame coach knows more than you, seriously, it's alright! |

Maybe they think they're onto something with Lavar? I think all the things that have unfolded, are the best that we have. |
Re: Same Ol' Story
I've been saying all along that Brunell was the answer; its nice to finally be vindicated.
