Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

Obviously it blows that we lost an immensely winnable game, but we have a great shot of beating San Fran (unless their rookie QB lights us up) and going 4-2 to start the season.

I for one would be thrilled - I sure as hell did not think they would be 4-2 when the season began (esp with Ramsey stinking it up in pre-season, and the offensive performance in the first game against Chicago).

4-2 is a good point to make a run for the next part of the season. We will likely lose to the other AFC west teams, but will sweep the NFC west. We just have to focus on beating the Bucs and splitting with the G-men and Eagles. If we can beat the cowboys again, that's 10 games and likely a playoff birth.

Re: will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6?

If you told me that we'd be 4-2 before the season began I'd be happy. These two losses have REALLY hurt me. While I'll still be happy with the overall record we could be so much better (or for that case we could be 2-4 after that game.

san francisco has a bye this week... great... another team that has extra time to prepare for us...

we will lose to the niners 31-17.

Re: will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6?

At this point, I hope we can go 4-2 after next week. However, I had us being 5-1 after the San Fran game (not trying to look ahead, but just for predication sake.) Them felt if we're only able to muster 5 wins the rest of the year, we'd come out at 10-6. IF we go 4-2, we're going to have to have at least one upset!

LOL, that would be my lowest point as a redskins fan, if that happened at Fedex. San Fran has lit some teams up this season, btw, so they can certainly score. I think our D will get the job done.

I don't think we'll underestimate the 49ers, but if we don't beat them next week, we could be in trouble.

nope - that's the best part about this loss, after losing the way we did today, no way we underestimate them. The team will be prepared for a must win game.

Idk, this 49ers game reminds me of the Cleveland game last year. A game I was 100% positive we'd win, but this week we just need to be prepared. I still think we'll win.

I agree with what Daseal said too.

Look guys, our offense appears to be clicking pretty good (unlike they did last year against the Browns.) I have loads of confidence in Mark Brunell, Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley, and Santana Moss. They'll get the job done.

You can't have watched them play this season. No way we lose AT HOME to the Niners.

This game should see the D get all the turnovers they can eat.

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

4-2 is a solid start, let's face it going to Denver and KC in back to back weeks is just brutal. I was really hoping for a split, but the only thing we can do is put those tough losses behind us and move on. There are still plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

I can definitely agree with that, I can handle going into NY 4-2, the losses were just tough because we should have won them. Very optimistic though with the play of the offense and hope the D can stop the big plays being given up.

I agree Matty but the problem I have is the way we played today. It seems like we took a couple steps backwards.Maybe the 9ers is just what we need to get some of that swagger back.

I'd be happy if we go 4-2, of course it could be better....it could also be far worse, I'm just grateful we have the record we have. First three games could've gone either way....thankfully went our way.

yeah all that matters is the record at the end of the year. i would be really happy with 4-2, coming into the season after preseason i thought we'd be lucky to beat chicago, i thought that after the chiefs game we'd be 1-4 again. just to be above .500 6 weeks into the season makes me happy.

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

I've been saying since the schedule came out if we can be 4-2 going into 2 divisional games we'll be ok. I'm thinking that we should split with NYG and Philly, beat the Rams and Raiders. That's 8 wins right there.. 2 games somewhere between Arizona, SD and TB or the other 3 divisional games that's 10 wins which should get us into the playoffs..

I completely agree, Pain. And I am happy to have a chance to be 4-2. Shows you how crucial Dallas and Seattle were.

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

I agree anything less than 10-6 will be a disapointment. And we must split with Philly and NY. Hopefully we beat the Cowboys again. The last three games could all be for a spot in the playoffs.

It is definately time to go see a doctor about these chest pains from the first five games, because the next eleven will all be just as close.

skinsfanthru&thru 10-17-2005 02:24 AM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

I know I'd be extremely happy starting 4-2 especially with the knowledge that the 2 losses were caused by self created mistakes. The offense is playing a hell of a lot better than I thought they would be at this point. The biggest concern is the team MUST stop with the fumbles and when the defense has the oppurtunity, they must come away with the turnover and sacks especially when u have a qb not really known for his elusiveness escape the grip of 5 players. Another area that needs shoring up is the run play calls. Portis is just not cutting it when going up the middle and those wind up just being wasted plays. And I still don't think we've really seen the team, other than the Brunnel to Moss connections, click at it's full potential.

TheMalcolmConnection 10-17-2005 06:03 AM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

I agree. When Portis gets outside, it seems like it's ALWAYS at least 4-6 yards a pop...

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

Everyone else in the NFC East has a harder game than the Skins this coming week. As tight as the division is, the Skins could go from last place to first place again in one week. The Skins should not over look the 49ers and I don't think they will, but it could be a good week to get on a roll and maybe heal some guys, like Portis, if they can get it going.

Coming of two straight losses, they better not overlook ANYONE.

BDBohnzie 10-17-2005 11:48 AM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

4-2 would be awesome, consider the Skins were 2-4 in '04, 3-3 in '03, 2-4 in '02, 1-5 in '01. 2000, the Skins were 4-2 to start the year.

the 49ers are terrible, but the Skins will be prepared. Last year's Cleveland team was more talented than the current 49ers team. They squeeked out a win against a St Louis team that overlooked them, and haven't done anything since. Alex Smith takes over the reins, and even with the bye week, won't be enough to turn the tides.

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

Given that we're 3-2. and playing what's got to be one of the 5 worst teams in the league, I'd say I will be despondent if we aren't 4-2.

I Agree somewhat with you I think you're going to beat SF and can beat the Giants if your D put the same presure we did to Eli, Phi lets scrach it as a loss
and I agree with the rams and raiders. thats 7 -3 wich is great this is where it gets treaky Arizona win SD loss TB loss and lets say giants win Phi loss and Dal loss ( just because the last game was a win and they'll be fired up)

so we are looking to a 9-7 and posible as you said 10 -6 if you split series with phi or beat D'boyz twice

TheMalcolmConnection 10-17-2005 01:36 PM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

What did you D do to pressure Eli? Blitzes or just pressure from up front? Eli seems very mistake-prone when you get in his face.

CrazyCanuck 10-17-2005 01:57 PM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

I'm happy with 3-2, given the way the team has been playing, and 4-2 would be even better!

I figure we need 10 wins to really have a strong shot at the playoffs. Here's what I'm hoping for from our remaining games:

1. SF - MUST WIN if we want to be taken seriously as a playoff team. 1-0

2. SD and Oak at home - These are tough games but we are at home and must take one of them at least. 1-1

3. 5 division games - I think we gotta go at least 3-2 here. Split the Ebills and the Giants, and complete the Dallas sweep at home. 3-2

4. Other 3 games (Stl, Ari, TB) - 3 road games here. Need 2 of these 3. 2-1

According to this plan, the Skins would finish 10-6, 4-2 in the division. Should be good enough for a playoff spot.

What do u guys think? Is it feasible?

TheMalcolmConnection 10-17-2005 01:59 PM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

Your #4 might be tough. Both TB and Stl will be REALLY tough at home.

We'll have to bring our collective A game for those.

Hijinx 10-17-2005 02:15 PM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

Does anyone else feel that the Skins must not only win vs the 49ers, but beat them convincingly? I think the Skins must show they can put away a inferior team and not depend on last minute comebacks, missed KGs, or last drive defensive stands. I think that if the 49ers have the ball with 3-4 mins left in the game and there is still a good chance of a SF win, the Skins won't look like a playoff contender.

Longtimefan 10-17-2005 07:19 PM

Re: Will you be happy if we go 4-2 in the first 6 games?

That's what I would really like to see is us beating the 49ers convincingly. We need a convincing win to feel good about how well we've played in the last two losses. I am truly proud of the team and the effort they have put forth all season long.

It's not always you can gain confidence from loosing football games (because you always want to win) but I have been inspired the last two weeks despite the fact we lost. We will get this win Sunday and go 4-2 which is very good at this point in our schedule and be happy about it. No turn-overs, no penalties and we'll have our most convincing win of the season. I am also happy about the way Brunell is directing the offence. As you all know I have always been one of his most ardent supporters, now I just want him to hold onto the ball.

Go Skins!!! We'll get that 4th VICTORY on Sunday.

we could finish 9-7 or 10-6 if we beat SF, then all we have to do is when half of the next 10 and were in the playoffs..........Playoffs????????????

Skins need to beat the 49ers convincingly and rack up 3 or 4 turnovers...
