Ramsey for Abraham
Its said the Jets are looking to let Abraham go for little or nothing. Ramsey never will have so much value.......Should we trade him?
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
We can't afford to let Ramsey go at this time. We'll need him if Brunell goes down. If Abraham is still available during off-season...he's definitely worth a look IMO.

What said the Jets are looking to let Abraham go for little or nothing? |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
i would do it, thats what i wanted the first time but i thought it would never happen.
the only problem is that the trade deadline is up! I hate deadlines |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
wouldnt ramsey just have to clear waivers before a trade goes through? but i doubt he'd clear waivers anyway.
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
I believe wewhite3 is referring to this article regarding possible off-season moves:
http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1129697712116260.xml&coll=1 "Also, there are rumblings that Abraham could be involved in a deal for Redskins QB Patrick Ramsey. Either G Randy Thomas or disgruntled LB LaVar Arrington could be packaged along with Ramsey." |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
wow...ramsey and lavar or r. thomas?!? hardly nothing my ass. no trade thank you!!
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
randy thomas? no way, we have no replacement. lavar? maybe, but the cap hit would be huge. ramsey and a mid round pick perhaps
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
We won't be trading Lavar. His cap hit is huge and we can't afford to do it 2 years in a row.
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
How ironic for yet another Jet-skin to go back to New York
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
yea, well.....we can dream...I mean Patrick walks next year......if we lucky, Lavar for a far late 1st rounder.....probably second, maybe we can just move Lavar to RE, then we have one of the most dangerous pass rushers.....?????????? it could happen????
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
Man, if Abraham could come here that would be great.....I don't see it happening though.
Good pass rushers are scarce and expensive. We'll see. |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
I would give them Lavar for Abaraham straight up deal.
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
Abraham is a beast from South Carolina.
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
Ramsey for Abraham straight up is probably the best deal they'd get. No way could we even think or throwing Lavar in there. That's crazy. They aren't going to get better than 1 first rounder for him considering everyone expects him to be moving on. They haven't any leverage. I'd take Rmasey for Abraham in .1 seconds. I think the skins would too. I'd lve with Campbell as the backup next year to have Abraham.
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
abraham is very talented, but he does have injury concerns and some what of a coles type personality (moody). but i don't know that we could get any better for ramsey.
but my point is after we get abraham we have to lock him up with a big contract. my concern is the coles like factor and the injuries. this is one i would leave to the coach. |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
Is Abraham the kind of guy that would fit in with a Gibbs team?
I mean this is a guy who sat himself down last year during the playoffs for fear of blowing his big potential payday as a free agent. |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
I don't like much about the jets team anymore. I think I'd take a Ramsey/Lavar for Abraham/Vilma though.... not to say that I dont like Lavar or anything, but if we're just not gonna use the guy...
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
I'd think there'd be no way we could do a two for one, but Ramsey and Thomas or Arrington is idiotic. I think it's just the NJ paper trying to spark some talk. If we do another two for one and if one of our two is Thomas or Arrington, unless the one we get back is Julius Peppers or a young Michael Strahan then I say we pass.
I say no more gift wrapped trades. Outside of the Coles for Moss swap, I mean what's the last trade that we won? Moss for Coles - It's early, but so far Moss has had a greater impact in 5 games than Coles did in 2 years so SKINS |

it could happen, we could give them ramsey and arrington for abraham and lots of cash. or if lavar agrees to give back a portion of his signing bonus. |

Dominant edge ass rushers are as rare as lockdown Left Tackles so giving up two players who are not starting isn't asking a lot. Although why Arrington isn't starting is another question altogether. |

yea i guess dominant ass rushers are pretty rare:lol: |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
We will not trade Ramsey untill the off season. You can take that to the bank.
|
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
How the heck did Randy's name suddenly become involved with the trade rumors? The finacial cost and stupidity of that move would be enormous.

I have been working in a federal prison this semester and I don't think that dominant ass rushers are all that rare. |

The Star Ledger newspaper in New Jersey reported the subject of Phillip Rivers and Ramsey were on the short list of the Jets. The article mentioned Lavar and Abraham and it also discussed how the Jets have shared a history with the Redskins going back to some guy named John Riggins. I think anything is possible and for the right money Abraham or somebody else will play for the Redskins. |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
If I'm the Jets I'm going after Rivers over Ramsey any day.
|
If I'm the Jets I'm going after Rivers over Ramsey any day.
MOney wise yeah he makes ense since his cap hit and contract are better situations. But then your trading something,, probably of pretty good value, for something completely unproven. At least Ramsey has shown that he can do the job giving the right circumstances. |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
Yea the chrgrs are going to want a boat load of cash to off set that 14 mil signing bonus.lavar has got to stay, i believe that he's about to embark on the best part of his career.. randy would cost us and is our best guard.and with dockery still somewhat of a question mark in short yardage. i don't think you get rid of your best guard like that.if we had traded for fonoti like i wanted them to then that could have been a possiblity.but the 42 yr old is gone next year and that leaves us with very questionable depth behind thomas and dockery.

Dude.......When you say 'working'..... |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
Why on earth would the Redskins consider trading Randy Thomas to the Jets? The skins are trying to build a cohesive OL which only comes from playing together. Why would they want to start over next year and rip apart the center of the line. That trade is nonsense and wishful thinking by the jets.
If the Jets want to work out something involving Ramsey and Abraham that's one thing, but lay off Randy Thomas... |

Gives whole new meaning to the phrase "lining up over the tight end" |
Re: Ramsey for Abraham
It looks like Ramsey for Abraham might not be so ridiculous as some of you thought after all. It seems not many people are interested in him. That would drive his value down. They cannot keep him at that cap figure.
Texans | Team reportedly not interested in Abraham Thu, 2 Mar 2006 05:52:09 -0800 Mark Cannizzaro, of the New York Post, reports someone close to Houston Texans general manager Charlie Casserly said the Texans have "no interest" in trading for New York Jets franchised DE John Abraham. "In fact, I spoke to a lot of people in Indianapolis (at the NFL Combine) who said they won't go near Abraham," the person said. |

Re: Ramsey for Abraham
gotta trade ramsey for a draft pick, we have no cap space and we need a cheap rookie that can hopefully provide a little depth
|

without a cba, does the draft stay the same next year?
