Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France

Dear God, I know we don't talk as much as we should. As always, I'm a big fan. Would it be out of line to ask that David Akers continue to rest until after the Eagles play us? In your greater glory, of course. XO, Brud |
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
Somebody WANTS Cortez?! HA!
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
what happened with him in dallas? didn't he win a game with a fg?
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
But didn't he LOSE numerous games by missing field goals?
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
And by numerous I mean two.
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
it's a real head shaker, one man's rject is anothers kicker.oh well, we've got 2 good kickers but i hope that something's decided soon about which one we keep.
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
Jose Cortez is a step up from Todd France, hence the move. He won't be there long. As soon as Akers is back, Cortez will get kicked to the curb.

Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
As far as our kickers go, Novak is doing great on FGs and XPs, but he doesn't kick the ball deep on kickoffs. That is probablly why we have not dropped John Hall yet. When Hall gets back healthy, the Skins will have deeper kickoffs.

Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
I need to start taking kicking lessons, apparently even when you're garbage you can still find a job.
Amazing. |
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
That's what I was thinking my way into the NFL was. Just learn how to kick!
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
Hmmm, I was a decent kicker, kicked in a handful of flag football games in college and after. I can hit from 35, 40 yards. perhaps i should call the Eagles for a tryout...however, I doubt they'll sign a 320 lb kicker.

Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
This is wonderful. You guys remember when Cortez was the kicker for SF a couple years ago and he missed all those potential winners inside 30 yards? I think he missed two chipshots at the end of a game against SD - something like that. Supposedly he took some time off to change his kicking style, coming back this season rejuvinated, but it looks like he might have needed to get a valium prescipription from a sports psychologist as well.
One thing that has always amazed me is how difficult it is to find 32 guys at one time in the entire world who can consistently kick a ball through a target. I mean, I know its harder than it looks and everything (so says my dad who was a kicker in college) but there's a lot of people in this world. Alot of soccer players who maybe aren't fast enough for the big leagues. I could imagine someone signing some fat Brazilian goaly who can bomb then from 60+, and he becomes the Antonio Gates of Kickers. Just a thought... |
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
Good luck Eagles!!!!!!Lol
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
I am starting to think we should hold on to both our kickers thoughout the season just to keep them away from the other teams in the NFC East.
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
so that makes 3 nfc east teams. think he'll go for the quadfecta?
|
I am starting to think we should hold on to both our kickers thoughout the season just to keep them away from the other teams in the NFC East.
I think with the leg problems Hall has had over the past year we have to keep to kickers and it will intresting to see what happens at the end of the season.

Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
What do the Eagles have against the French?
*runs away* |
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
It's just like the Eagles to take the rest of the NFC East's garbage.
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
We should start Hall, and put NOvak ont he practice squad in case Hall gets hurt again.
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
I'm happy to carry both kickers for the rest of the season. Unfortunately if Novak goes to the practice squad he'll probably get an offer to play somewhere, perhaps PHILI. If Novak continues to kick well maybe we'll trade Hall in the offseason for a worthwhile player. But let's not go there. Hall and/or Novak better than Cortez hands down!

Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
I'm gonna buy a cortez jersey. I have a feeling im gonna be this guy's biggest fan, lol.
|
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
dude, you should try to get one that has all his former teams on it...kinda like with Gaylord Perry and his jersey of all his teams.

Amazing.
That's a lesson to all of you who have sons.. Teach them to kick or throw strikes left handed and they will always have a job.. |
Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France
however, I doubt they'll sign a 320 lb kicker.

I hope Philly or Dallas don't sign this guy. He can kick under presure and has a prefect record this season. |
