Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
Moss or Brunell?
Discuss My Pick is brunell. Moss wouldnt have half as many yards if ramsey was our QB. but thats just my opinion. |
Re: Who is more important?
i am taking the sissy way out. If moss was to get injured we would be done because no one would be there to replace him, if brunell was injured i think we would manage with ramsey
|
Re: Who is more important?
I think patten could fill moss's shoes. I don't know if he'd have all the stats, but he could do his job effectively enough. I dont know now that we have things clicking if one piece here isn't replacable. Not that their not valuble, but they're probably replacable.

Re: Who is more important?
I'm going with Brunell. If he goes down, Moss's stats wouldn't be that great. Brunell has a veteran leadership. Ramsey holds the ball too long, and he's not much of a leader when you need him to be. Brunell is cracking jokes in the huddle, lightening up everyone's mood.
|
Re: Who is more important?
we have 4 wide receivers, if moss goes down that is 3 and seeing how patten, thrash and jacobs combine for about 320 total yards i don't see how we could deal without him. Obviously their numbers would go up if moss was gone but moss so far is having one of the best seasons in receiver history.
With that said QB is the most important part of an offense, so i would say Brunell is the "most important". |
Re: Who is more important?
moss.
|
Re: Who is more important?
I think Brunell is the key cog.
His accuracy, his ability to get rid of the ball quickly, his ability to escape the pocket and make things happen, his ability to read a D and get the ball to the hot receiver, I could go on and on. Of course Moss has made alot of things happen after the catch, but I think the offense just wouldn't click on the same level if you took Brunell out of the mix. |
Re: Who is more important?
1 good QB, 1 good WR, they are synergy: 1+1 = 11-5
|
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
we had Brunell last year. we didn't have Moss - whose yards are mostly after the catch. draw your own conclusions.

Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
these are different brunells...
|
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
No brainer. Brunell. He touches the ball every play.
|
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
????????? will Moss be in the pro bowl....yea....will mark brunell yea....my choice is Mark, I think if he wasn't playing so well, everyone would be saying Moss is a Great 2 not a #1....but who cares were winning........ye haw....can i say that

without a doubt |
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
BRUNELL! Although the loss of Moss would be HUGE. We have other recievers who can help pick up the slack. Who knows? Maybe another diamond in the rough rises to the surface. Our best information shows, (at least at this time) we have no qualified QB to lead the team.

Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
Much of the success of the passing game this season has been due to the efficiency of the roll-out and waggle pass plays. If Brunell is not the quarterback, those plays do not work because Ramsey has extremely limited mobility.
If Moss goes down it hurts, but Patton or even Jacobs could run his routes effectively. I would have to go with Brunell as being more important. |
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
This is a question that is being answered in Green Bay right now.
Who is the most valuable player there? Brett Favre, no question. How valuable is he with no one to throw to? Not very. He'll still get a ton of yards, he'll still throw for touchdowns, but he's a gun without ammunition right now. |
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
these are different brunells...
who really knows, maybe if Brunell had some healthy, fast receivers who could actually catch and run last year, he would have put up the same numbers he's putting up this year. i'm not putting down Brunell (this year). point is, the presence of Moss is the most significant *change* to the offense this year. he's changed the entire gameplan and offensive character of this team, because he gets real separation downfield and forces the defense to stop looking at Portis. we didn't have that kind of threat last year, and no QB could do anything about that. |

Great post. I agree. They'd both be missed equally. |
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
also consider Moss has caught the vast majority of passes this year, the other WRs Patten, Thrash and Jacobs have only caught a handful of balls here and there. it's mostly all Moss and the the H-Backs (Cooley & "Air" Sellers), who we also had last year
|
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
If I had to pick I would say Brunell because I think with the other WR and the RB I think we could survive without Moss. Let's just hope nothing happens to either of them and all this discussion is a moot point.

I totally agree...I think that either one has difficulty without the other. Sometimes QBs and WRs just have that certain...je ne sais quois shall I say? These two just get each other right now in a very 1+1=100 way and I think both are equally important to the Skins. |
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
The alpha and the omega.
|
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
A quality offense always starts first with the OL and second with the QB.
If you have those two things, you can usually be an effective offense even with average WRs. Look at the Eagles prior to Owens. A good offense, not great, but obviously Owens was the icing on the cake especially last year. Take McNabb out of there and you have an entirely different offense. They can survive without TO though. Moss is our icing on the cake right now, but Brunell is the driving force of the offense. |
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
Who's more important? Jon Jansen. That offensive line is totally different when he's in the lineup, which allows Brunell to throw to Moss.
But, between those 2, neither are more important over the other. There would be significant loss if either one goes down. No Moss, and the downfield passing game struggles. No Brunell and you have a reasonable backup, but no long term answer for sure. |
Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
Moss last year just average, Brunell last year just terrible. It's a toss up. Ramsey might, and thats a big might have the stuff to carry the team but I think we would lose those close games Brunell is winning. If Moss went down our other WR's might be able to carry the load but we lose the some close games that Moss would have won for us. Our offense is much better this year so if either went down it would be much easier to replace one of them. Someone made the comment that the Eagles could survive without TO but with as much as they are throwing the ball they maybe dead in the water without him.

Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
moss is different and can adjust of a different passers

Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
This thread is a waste of time. The question should be who is the most important duo in the NFL?
Brunell- Moss Palmer-Johnson Delhomme-Smith McNabb-Owens Bulger-Holt Let's not waste time on frivilous discussions that don't build a positive dialogue between us as we move a step closer in restoring our dominance. |

Re: Who is more important, Brunell or Moss?
im going with moss ,he's the spark this team has needed....and give gibbs some credit if brunell went down he'd figure out a way to get ramsey the protection and cure him of his happy feet.....stop looking at receivers and look at coverages instead..............moss is the man we're gonna kick some giant ass sunday.............:smashfrea

You could ask it in another thread, it would be a good discussion....on a totally unrelated note ;) I don't understand why people sometimes feel compelled to post that a thread is a waste of time or pointless or whatever. There's no rule that says you have to post a reply in every thread. If you don't feel the need to say anything then just don't say anything. There's no need to declare your lack of need to say anything. Anyway, Go Redskins! |
