Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
I voted for the defense. Nice to see them finally coming back against a strong offensive team (even w/o TO). Brunell defintley deserves a ton of credit. Would have chosen Cooley if not for that fumble.

Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
For me, it's hard to give out a game ball because this was a team performance. There were so many things we did right as a team for once. Portis was critical, he didn't do much in the running game, but he did have key blocks and he prevented a defensive touchdown after that eagles defender was running with the ball. Arrington was good as well, he had six solo tackles. Our defense was solid, except for that big pass play they gave up for the touchdown. They came up huge when we needed it most on that fourth down. I gave it to Brunell mostly because he carried that offense when the run game wasn't working. He looked great tonight, even though he threw no touchdowns, he also had no interceptions, which was good for us. We just did enough things right tonight to win the game. When Cooley coughed up that ball on that hit from Dawkins, i thought for sure the Eagles would recover (i base that solely on the fact that the tv camera had it at an angle where you only saw that Eagles player diving for it). This feels good. I think we are finally good enough to contend.

Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
If Dockery got one, then so should Prioleau for recovering Thrash's fumble.
Its hard not to give it to Brunell and Ryan Clark though. This is what has been missing in past years...good QB play in division games. I hope we sure as hell ink Ryan Clark to a long term deal. This guy was released for a while last year? what was the front office thinking? Bowen will almost certainly be gone next year as his cap number gets unwieldy. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Everyone did great to hold out this win at home especially the defense, but my game ball goes to Ladel Betts. He got the great field position on the kickoff, and had a key catch on that last drive to score. He showed excellent effort, just need to stop fumblen

Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
also one game ball to our MVP TO, who caused more havok for the eagles than all the NFL teams combined
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
I'll go a little bit out on a limb here and give it to the coaching staff for getting this team focused and back on track this week for a big division game
Otherwise, I'll say Brunell for his work today as the "on-field coach" |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
brunell gets it for me,but that tackle by portis was huge
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
T.O. for being an Asshole..........here's to you :food-smil
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Bett's... he had a very good game for the limited time he saw.
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
My game ball was to Dockery from the moment he recovered that fumble. That ball seemed to just lie on the ground for an eternity. It's a whole different game if he doesn't recover it and Portis scores afterword.

Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Brunell. He made some clutch throws and his run for a 1st down was big. He is the leader of the team. Great game!
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
I can't pick Brunell, he gave up what could have been a game changing fumble. Once again we were in the red zone and we got no points. Plus I think only giving up 10 points to the Eagles clearly points some good defensive playing. Holding Westbrook to 24yrds was huge for the Skins.
Frankly this win really came as part of a team effort. Cooley and Moss had good receiving numbers. Portis had that TD saving tackle, Dockery's and Prioleuo's fumble recoveries, Sellers' second effort in getting both the TD and first downs. Yeah I have to say it was truly a team win. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Other: Total team effort. Hard to pick one guy. Great win!
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
I gave mine to other(the entire team) as well.
Great team effort to send the media into a Eagles tailspin, love it! |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
I say Sellers for surprising me with HUGE offensive plays. Who knew?
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
The Game Ball goes to......
The Defense. Great performance for the whole game. Arrington was disruptive force, Daniels was a revelation and kept McNabb hemmed in and harassed, your secondary was solid. The Offense wasn't as good. Those turnovers will come back to haunt you. Cooley, Thrash, need to hold on to the ball. Nice Game. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
team effort, portis, then the D...
portis was bashing DLinemen like kearse right in their faces the entire night, and he even popped in to do what he does for me in madden... safety blanket for fumble recoveries and takedowns (its good to have a speed back). The running game wasn't amazing, but overall he definately deserved to be on that field. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Of what was listed I picked...Koooooooooooooooooooo-ley!
My pick would be Home Turf. peace |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Some of my general thoughts:
Brunell just continues to amaze me, I think the phrase that a QB can make all the throws is a little over used but with him it's definitely appropriate. He has amazing touch. Portis didn't have the numbers but it was nice to finally see them point out what he does away from the ball, ESPN does such a great job at covering games I'm really looking forward to them taking over MNF. Cooley and Moss are a nice one-two punch. It's obvious Patten isn't going to become that solid #2, so Cooley is it. Was anyone else ticked at Patten for not dragging his feet on that one catch? He's a vet, he should have known better. Perhaps it's time to give Jacobs some more playing time? Nice to see us working Sellers in to the mix more. The guy is a load in the open field, did you guys see him bowl over Dawkins?! I can't wait to see that play in the highlights. The tackling and discipline of the defense was much improved but they're still not playing as well as they should. Some props has to go to our makeshift defensive line for doing a great job against the run. It's great to see Arrington working himself back to the Pro Bowl caliber LB we all know and love. Thumbs down on Portis and Taylor for their ugly-ass socks. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Doc for hustle. Portis for hustle/ picking up the blitz.
When you hustle every play your get your share of fumbles, breaks and big plays. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Nice post Matty.
I got a little nervous at the end of the game when coach Gibbs just ran it and didn’t really commit to getting a first down and we gave the ball back to philly with about 3 minutes left. That was nail biting time. |
Who gets yours?
Brunell (21/29, 224 yards) Cooley (7-85) Moss (7-79) Portis (21-67-1) The defense (10 points allowed, 1 INT, 2 sacks)
With all due respect Matty - Portis' TD-saving tackle that changed the whole outcome of the game should be included up there somewhere (as stated earlier). AND - I disagree about the socks! I think it's halarious! And it makes them easier to find on the field. As long as they don't mind the fine, and Gibbs obviously doesn't care, then I don't either. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Thrash owes Prioleau a big steak dinner.
Colley owes Dockery a big steak dinner. It's rare but things went our way last night. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
I don't think Dockery will accept a big steak dinner. MULTIPLE steak dinner will be more to his liking (Isn't he the huge eater of the group?).
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Ryan Clark for sealing the deal!
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Team effort: Brunell, Like Theisman said: "he's the whole package", and continues to amaze. Portis-decent running game, for all the grass stains on his uniform, blocking, dude is a warrior. Mike Sellers-needs to see more action. Nice to see a ball carrier drop his helmet, knocking tacklers on their ASS. D-line, for hanging tough and getting some pressure on Donavon, and knocking him on his ASS for that BS spike fake attempt (we usually bite on that type of thing).
It wasn't perfect but it is an effort to be proud of as successful teams, even when they don't play great find a way to WIN-GO REDSKINS |

randy thomas (RG) is the big eater on the team. doc is huge though. |
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
THAT'S right. I forgot.
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Brunell, he played the best game as a Redskins. He made some passes that I thought at first he was just throwing the ball away.
|
Re: Game ball: Skins vs. Eagles
Love Brunell, but his fumble at the end of the half when we were well within field goal range could have really come back to hurt us

I'd put that more on Samuels getting schooled. Jansen also got toasted early on by Kearse, but overall a solid night of protection from the OL. |
