Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

I was at work when I saw this across the screen on Sportcenter!
I was laughing out loud. Bring TO back to the Eagles and watch him fight them all on the sideline!
Is there any truth to this?

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

Apparently Jeremiah Trotter made some statements to that effect. Hard to imagine

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

Trotter of all people.
Maybe Trotter just wants a piece of Owens.
HAHHAHAHAHHAHA.
Hope TO comes back. I really do. Think he and McMahon can get along? I'll take any and all bets on that one! Let's start a bring TO back campaign! Let's help our Eagle brethren out. Give the city of brotherly love what the deserve; an NFL swirly!

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

I think for McMahon to be successful, not completely unexperienced but not what I would consider a veteran consistant starter. He is going to need a go to reciever to get his confidence back. To be truthful I agree they will work good together because McMahon if not anything is going to use TO to establish himself and probably throw to him so much it will be predictable. It is funny what three loses in a row will do for you. They did not stay a better team without TO for long. Does not surprise me a Trotter he is a big Union guy and he is probably remembering his bad experience with the Eagles and their front office.

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

Trotter is comparing his situation of leaving the team under less than congenial circumstances with getting thrown off. It's a flawed argument.

He is also forgetting that the Eagles took him back aat a greatly reduced salary. That isn't likely to happen here.

i think the whole things a joke.they are definitley a better team on the field with him ,but he is too big of an idiot off it

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

Trotter is about as smart as a tree...(and that's an insult to a tree..) but I say, Ok. Bring him back to finish the job of completely decimating the team. I hate the Eagles and would love to see more :hitfan:

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

I'm not even mildly surprised that Eagle players would want TO back on the team. NFL players have been conditioned to try to win football games since they have been about 8 years old; that's what they do. NFL players are not known for their introspective capabilities or their abilities to "see the big picture".

So, ask yourselves this question in a very narrow context: On any given Sunday when the captains are out at mid-field and the referee is about to toss the coin in the air, are the Eagles more likely to win with TO playing WR for them or are they more likely to win with whatever scrubeenie they happen to have on the roster that week?

From the players' perspective, TO helps them be a better team and potentially win more games. So, of course, that's what they want.

Now if you want something REALLY conspiratorial in nature - and something I do not believe at all - consider this:

IF Andy Reid and the Eagles want TO back now that Donovan McNabb looks to be on the shelf for the rest of the year, what better way to try to open the door for him to come back and save a shred of dignity for all the combatants than to have his teammates - his comrades in arms - announce that they want him back in the fold. That plays to TO's ego a bit and gives Andy Reid a way to say that he is doind what is best for the team.

Like I said, I don't think that's what's happening here, but low probability events happen every day...

Of course they want him back, with McNabb out the ship is sinking very quickly.

T.O.s hearing today, right now actually. Waiting to see what happens.

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

Trotter is on D and does not have to listen to all of TO's crap. As a defensive player anytime you have an offensive palyer that can help you stay off the field and get first downs and TD's is a plus in their book. I would think that if you could take a secret survey you would find more defensive palyers than offensive player that would want him back.

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

I heard on Sports Radio the Eagles are still saying he will not return no matter the outcome of the arbitration. How this works out should be interested, I don't think the Eagles will bend on this they fold here they open the door for other issues. That has been the problem with other teams they have broke and have not treated the outstanding players like they are above the organization and the team.

Drew (the asshole) Rosenfuck did make a good point....people violate the drug rules and sell drugs and commit crimes...they dont get a year suspension....so he ran his mouth big deal....let the players handle him in the lockeroom...plus the media spliced and cut that whole interview was taken way out of context...the media they are sharks and to be honest most of what TO said was right.... I think they are crazy to let him go he produces.....

the media maybe sharks, but who else has been edited up into an asshole the size of TO? that's what i thought... maybe he should just keep his mouth shut and stop being an idiot and all his problems would fix themselves.

Re: Eagles teammates want Owens back!?!?

Actually a few other Eagles have been quoted as wanting him back. Just goes to show you how many cowards there are on that team. As Doc Walker said "Where were these guys when he 1st was suspended, nobody spoke then" I guess we can safely assume that is why Philly will see only one silver trophy in their trophy case. THE STANLEY CUP.

While it's a bit of aside I'd like point out that TO was not always the monster he is today. According to Vinnie, who was in SF when TO was drafted, he was much more studious and relaxed, not as 'in your face' as he is today. We all know Rosenhaus also manages our 'problem child', Lavar Arrington, and he didn't start really 'airing his dirty laundry' to the media until he became a Rosenhaus client. I'd be curious to know how much of this is Drew telling TO or LA this is how you up your market value and how much is the player copping a tude.

Well LongtimesSkinsFan apparently you have not paid much attention to the Lavar situation. If you did you would know that the Brothers Postons are the one leading LAvar into the conference room. In fact Drew has a good reputation with the Skins as they have cut huge deals with Moss and Portis and have bellied up to Drew.

I think it WOULD be funny if every time TO didn't get the ball he went over and bitched at his MLB about it ;) I wonder how long that'd last.

My bad. I thought Arrington was being handled by Rosenhaus. I still would like to question the source of motivation for Owens' behavior though. What I was getting at was that...

1. Owens goes to Philly and gets a new contract that he's agreeable with.
2. Owens fires agent and hires Rosenhaus as new agent.
3. Owens wants to renegotiate a new contract after 1 year under current contract.

Would I be correct in assuming that his former agent collected comission on the contract he negotiated and that Rosenhaus would not collect any money managing Owens unless he negotiated a new contract where he would collect the comissions? Would much of the motivation for a new be somewhat based on the fact that Rosenhaus won't make any money from handling Owens' affairs unless his current contract is voided and he negotiates a new one for him?

yeah, he gets 10% or something, so that's been the running theory.
