Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy

Hmmm would Danny let him wear Monk's #81? |
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
Interesting. We're definitely desperate for a quality wideout as we go into our last 6 games. Question is, are we that desperate? Or would Gibbs ever let a clown like T.O. on his sideline?
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
I don't know if we are that desperate to pick up TO. However, I will guarantee you that if we are, he will not be wearing #81.
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
A six game deal with alot of incentives. I think TO would be OK for a few games he does not need anymore problems and I bet he would love to play against Philly.

Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
I am sure the skins will take a run at signing TO (as I said back when this all started) but its unlikely TO will want to come here as he will want to go to a potential super bowl contender (which the skins no longer are).
My prediction: TO goes to Dallas. |

My prediction: TO goes to Dallas.
Well the article said if he's released it will work like a Waiver Wire situation with the worst teams getting the first shot to sign him in order. So we would get a shot before Dallas and maybe we take him just so Dallas can't get him. I would assume he would be picked up long before that situation arose. |
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
I have a question I don't know if someone knows the answer if T.O gets released in this year he gets in to the waiver wire wich means taht the team with the worst record has first dibbs to chose him.
to explain it better al the teams that want T.O have to say the ywant him before the waiver ends and the team with the worst record gets him that means if Dallas, Denver and Houston claim him he would go to houston. My question is if he goes to houston can he then say I don't want to play with them or does he has to sign a contract that houston gives him what happens if he doesn't whant to sign with a bad team? |

It would just mean trouble for that team. Look at how much trouble the Eagles had and they were a team he wanted to play for. I think TO if signed with a team he is happy with would be OK for a couple of years. |

If this happens, he takes the contract he signed in Philly with him, his new team will have to pay him based on that contract. 4) If no team claims him off waivers, he becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with anyone. Now I think someone will claim him, for sure. But the thing is he's already unhappy with his contract. He said so over the summer. Whoever picks him up will know that they have to deal with a huge headache. Also, the Skins can't pick him up off waivers, we don't have the cap room. That 3.75 million base salary needs to fit under the cap, and prorated to the 6 remaining games, that's about 1.5 million or so. We don't have that much room. It's impossible for him to be a Redskin. |
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
In other words, whoever grabs him has to have at least 1.5 million available under this year's cap.

I stop trying to understand how it all works long ago. Thanks for the info, and how long has it taken for you to learn how all this works? |

Glad to help. On the salary cap, I work in the finance field, so I think I can grasp the concepts because they sound somewhat similar to the way things are accounted for in business. Terms like prorating and allocation are second nature to me. Plus, since I'm a numbers guy, my eyes actually don't glaze over and go crosseyed when reading one of John Clayton's salary cap analyses. So I just ended up reading a lot of those types of articles over the last 5 years or so. CrazyCanuck is also very helpful on this site with that stuff. I learned a fair amount from him too, looking at his salary cap spreadsheets. |
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
I'm amazed (and appalled) that we're even talking about the possibility of signing T.O. :vomit:
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
All can relax! ESPN is announcing T.O. suspension is upheld by arbitration. AHHHH, the smell of justice is rare and oh soooooooo sweet!!!!!!!!!!!http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2234459

No one could have said it better, and I agree wholeheartedly. How on earth can anyone who is a true fan of the team consider wanting this guy on the team? We've gone through this before, there is nothing, did I say that right? "NOTHING" this guy brings that will equal the trouble he causes. We have enough problems already, why want for a guy whom we've just watched blow-up two different teams right in front of our eyes? I just feel sorry for whoever fools with this guy, and I certainly hope our organization has not lost it just yet. |
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
The ruling is in over on NFL.com. T.O. must sit out another game. I wonder what happens for the last 4 games of the year?
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
I pray to God, Allah, Yahweh, and Gibbs that we don't sign him....even for 4 weeks.
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
Bravo. Glad to see Turdell will not get his way. I hope this sends a message to the entire league that nobody is above their team.
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
thank god to is not coming to washington.i cant believe any real skins fan would want him on our team
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
Well hate or love TO he's among the best in the league. If we were playoff bound and we could sign him for 4 games, why not? Long term? Hell no. Let the Chiefs or Cowboys get into the trouble. It's truly a shame that he's such a jackass that he can't even stay on a team without causing distractions. That's not a team player. Losing the Superbowl with the Eagles is just glorious! But for 4 games? I'd sign him. Especially with our WR core finishing the season.

lol thank god you said it first i'd take him just for this year can u imagine him and santana on the same field..... but any then we need someone who can get him the ball....i'll duck ...cause i know it will be IN-COMING after that last comment hehehe |
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
Well I could take his BS for a few weeks to lead us into the playoffs but long term?
Forget about it. Won't happen in DC. Not with Gibbs and not with teams like the Ravens, Cowboys, Falcons and Chiefs in need or want of a star WR!!! |
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
The funny thing is that if the Eagles did release him one of the teams to have first crack at him would be the Ravens, the same team he vehemently rejected a trade to when he was with the Niners. Wouldn't it cool to see him eat crow (or raven) and end up signing on with B-more for the rest of the season?
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
I can't, under any circumstances, see T.O. going to the Ravens. There is too much bad blood between T.O. and them.
|
Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
if TO Is released SIGN HIM!!!
If only for the rest of this season, but see if he takes the double coverage away from moss. |

Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy
In the 80's and early 90's, we had three great receivers. I remember looking at stats, and seeing Monk, Sanders, and Clark in the top 10-15.
I can see signing him on a contingency, get him this year, and if he is a good boy, next year. After that, see ya. I don't think you can turn a zebra's stripes. Bottom line for him, if he is to keep playing, he needs to straighten his act up. That doesn't matter which team he is with. Thing is, if we don't get him, I don't think Jerry Jones would have any doubt about picking him up. Then, we would be screwed. |
