Skins vs. Rams Predictions
Judging by the recent discussions around here, you would think it was February already. The season ain't over yet folks, let's get back to talking about now for a moment.
The Skins obviously need this game if they want to keep any of their slim playoff hopes alive. In fact, the next two are must wins if they want to head in to the last 3 game division stretch with any hopes of making some noise. The Rams are going with a rookie QB this week, but as we've seen in the past an inexperienced QB going against our defense doesn't exactly guarantee a dominating performace from the D. The Rams have some scary weapons at WR, and they have a pounder at RB who could easily light us up if the D doesn't come to play. We need to hope that Griffin can hold up and give us a spark against both the run and pass. Offensively we really need to get the running game firing on all cylinders again. The offensive line needs to play with a chip on their shoulders and control the line of scrimmage all day. In the passing game we've got to find an answer for the way defenses have taken away Moss recently. Jacobs had some clutch catches last week, we need to see more of the same from him this week. And please, let's not throw it to Royal anymore. I'm hanging on to my last thread of optimism this week, and my heart says Skins 21, Rams 17. |
Re: Skins vs. Rams Predictions
Skins 23 Rams 20 in a nail biter
|
Re: Skins vs. Rams Predictions
After letting leads slip away the past three weeks, the Skins defense shuts down the Rams' final drive and Skins win 23-20.

Re: Skins vs. Rams Predictions
I will watch the first 3 quarters and then turn it off, so I won't be heart broken. We will probably be up by 10 at the end of the 3rd and I will find out later we have lost!
Yes, they need this win for their playoffs and to keep my attention for the last 4 games of the season. |
Re: Skins vs. Rams Predictions
This not the first time Gibbs has had to deal with this sort of thing. This is not going to shake him up to bad. He will improvise, adapt, and overcome. He has given it back to the Veterans. That's what I would do if I was him. No one is going to convince me these guys don't care. I think we see a turnaround for this one. 28-14

Hog, I am with you on this one..... At some point it is not about coaching or playcalling or anything like that, it becomes execution and desire and willpower. Gibbs is basically saying, "Guys I am doing all I can, let's clear the air and figure out what we need to do to win some games." By calling out the Veterans, he is putting it on them to step up as leaders and decide their own fate. |

Redskins win four quarters and decisively put the Rams out of their misery.
|
Re: Skins vs. Rams Predictions
Being an optimist in the face of stark reality, I say Gibbs goes for the throat and doesn't let up this Sunday. A sound thrashing of the Rams, 35-14

Portis with 103 yds on 22 carries. We win time of possession by 7 minutes. 3 Sacks, 2 by Washington, 1 by Griff. |

Haven't we heard this before? Everybody said the same thing against the Raiders and Chargers. People said that the first contest against the Giants was the biggest game in years for the Redskins, that it would establish the frontrunner in the NFC East. We all knew what a pivotal matchup it was to go down to Tampa Bay against a tough NFC opponent. Those games were all crucial. In each one, they fell. Ironically, now that the stakes aren't as high and the playoffs are all but out of reach, this is one they might win ... but I still doubt it. Rams win, 23-13. |
Re: Skins vs. Rams Predictions
redskins... rams are down a HC, might be down 2 OL, rookie QB (but he is throwing to the best 1-2 combo in the nfl).
I hope we can explode on them, but more likely it'll be down to the last minute. They've done alright since losing martz, so its not gonna be like 49ers part 2... but maybe the next week will. |

We win this one easily, 31-17. |

It's a lot more impressive if you call it before the game is over  |
Re: Skins vs. Rams Predictions
cough here's my predictions
skins win 24-9 behind impressive running by Portis, 136 yards 2 tds, Cartwright finishes with 118 yards and a 15 ypc average, Rogers gets his second pick of the season on another deep pass that's underthrown, Washington records another sack, as well as Priealoua and S. Taylor, we give up 24 yards to S. Jackson on 11 carries, the Harvard kid throws 1 int, and doesn't do much all afternoon. It's kindof a hunch, but i just have this odd feeling that it will happen. Seriously though, props to Big C man, he almost got it right with his 24-10 prediction. |
