grade
How would you grade this offseason so far
1 A 2 B 3 C 4 D Yes we need more d-line help but i say A |
is there anything you havent thought to make a post on today, youre keeping us all busy trying to respond to them all. id say A, because of the coaching aquisitions alone.
there is still a need a dline but a successful offseason doesnt have to mean fixing evyer problem
man i love the redskins can talk about them all day and the draft got me so happy i hope we get sean taylor
Its cool man, my bday is in a half hour and im sitting here reading skins news. I almost forgot my bday was this week because of the draft.
i'd give an A for gibbs alone... that trickled down to the rest of the coaches (williams, bugel, etc). getting portis for bailey, who was leaving anyway, was a definite coup. the only reason it wasn't an A+ is due to the contract given brunell- it may be a fruitful move to get him, but we overpaid. at least it's backloaded, so we can cut later on...
i have to echo the grade of an A for the coaching moves alone but to add on portis, brunnel, griffin, daniels, springs, and whomever we select in the first round makes it very close to an a-plus. plus i think gibbs and company r gonna get us a couple solid pickups after the june 1st cut date.
Definitely an A. If the Skins draft Taylor or Winslow, it will be an A++.
Getting Gibbs alone is an A, no question
I agree Gibbs alone deserves an A, more like an A++++!
I dunno, Gibbs is a good pick-up, but I gotta give it an F so far. I mean, come on, they cut Armegis Spearman, Lionel Dalton, Bryan Barker - made practically no effort to resign Martin Chase or Patrick Johnson. On top of that, it looks like Jimoh is likely to be a June 1 cap cut.
I just don't think coaching is going to make up for some of these disasterous front office decisions. The Spearman cut alone makes it impossible for our defense to finish in the top ten. He was the heart and soul, man. THE HEART AND SOUL!!! |
"A" but with reservation...
I have thought the past 3-4 off seasons have been A's as well and we all know how those turned out. |
A+ because we have a running game, the Hogs will be back, and The Greatest Redskin coach is back in Burgundy and Gold. Not sure if I could ask for a whole lot more.
Easy A just for the coaching. I honestly think with the right coaching staff last year, we are proboly a playoff team or close too it. We have made some major upgrades at some positions. I still think the D-line could have had more done to it, but we defintley upgraded a little bit. The coaching alone should make us about 3 games better, minimum.
A Two words: Joe Gibbs....and most of the other pick-ups haven't been too shabby either.

UKNOWN
I am not sure, I thought we did quite well in past years, but it turned out horribly. I don't think one can make a determination before even a game is played. Even after one season it is hard, becuase it takes some players at some positions a year just to get used to a new system. Which leads to my next point...systems, we have had so much turnover in coaches that players are constantly having to learn a new system, which is a major reason why we can't really evaluate. So.. in my opinion we won't know how good our offseason is until 2005 considering that the current coaching staff stays intact. Having said all that, the only known quantity is GIBBS, and he is worthy of an A+++++++++ grade. |
I hope that for once the Redskins can convert an A offseason rating into an A rated season. Coach Gibbs return makes it an A.
B (maybe B-) but lets see the draft
Gibbs ofcourse is huge, but it only for 3-4 seasons right? I am unsure how well Portis will do under the Gibbs system, I think Dillon would have been a better pick and cost less. I am not a big believer in Brunel either but I think he will be good enough. I think "something" needs to happen with Sameuls, he has us cap strapped And we really overpaid for Lavar, yes hes good but hasn't been that good for this kinda payday(this will hurt us down the road) |
Not sure I would agree that Dillon would be a better pick than Portis
And as for Gibbs being around for just 3-4 years who would have though we'd ever get him back for even that long. Besides 3 years is a big deal. Might have another Super Bowl title by then. Imagine if we took away three seasons of Gibbs first tenure, let's say the 1982, 1987, and 1991 seasons |
In Gibbs first tenure, he went to the superbowl twice in his first three years and won one....not too shabby! I'll take that again...even if it does mean losing the SB once...the best team in our division hasn't even been able to get there three year in a row...
