Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
Was it just me, or did it seem like Redskins fans owned that stadium today? I was watching on t.v., but i noticed when our defense was on the field the crowd was shouting defense, and on that play right before the final two minute warning, i could hear shouts of Lets GO Redskins. Did skins fans own that stadium today or what? Also, on another note, we finished 4-0 against the NFC West. When was the last time we actually swept another division?

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
well we swept the north last year but stupid refs didn't want that to happen so they called portis back on that bull shit penalty against GB

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
If anyone went to the game, please leave some posts here or make your own thread. Id love to hear about it. And I definitely heard the chants of DEFENSE when the Skins D needed a stop. Sure sounded like the Skins were deeply represented in AZ. Nice job, now lets try it at home this coming week vs Dallas. :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas:

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
I made a comment to my family while watching the game that on the review of Portis's TD and when the ruling was announced I could hear nothing but cheers. I think I only heard the crowd react loudly in favor of the cardinals maybe twice during the entire game.

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
Arizona is everyone's home away from home.
Their fan base is pathetic. |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
i liked it when they played in mexico

I was there. Just got home from AZ. Redskins fans EVERYWHERE!!! We drowned out the home fans for most of the games. Cardinal fans are tools. A couple of drunk Cards fans tried to start a fight after the game but were seriously outnumbered. I couldn't believe how many of us were there today! It was awesome!!! |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
blanch do you know of any specific reason to why there were that many fans? are there a lot in california??
Also i know you had to do the "we want dallas" after the game right? |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
lol was someone wearing a steelers jersey in the first pic that bigskin showed? hahahahah
|
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
yeah i noticed that. lol there were more steeler fans than cardinal fans. Really that must suck to have such a fan base
|
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
Also, Arizona is such a great vacation spot, and it's so easy to get Cards tickets, that visiting fans always show up in droves, no matter what game. Nevertheless, there were a TON of Skins fans there today. Awesome sight.

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
I was at the game with my dad and brother. It was a redskins home game.
Tempe is a great place to visit for a football game. I've been several times and have not seen one fight. The atmosphere is friendly. its a college stadium. all around the stadium are restaurants and shops. no need to tailgate before the game or leave the stadium after the game and meet your friends somewhere. you can just show up around the campus and party. they have great food. lots of bars. its like a street scene around the stadium. did i mention its safe? you can take your family and have a great time. its really a shame they are going to move to a new stadium next season. Im going to miss eating fish tacos before the game. go to the game. then go to hooters after the game all without walking a mile in total distance... man i had a great time. btw, ASU student(the female ones) are some of the hottest women ever! |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
I lived in Tempe for about 6 months during the offseason back in 97. It's ridiculous Tempe, AZ gets a team and other places don't. There is no fanbase since the Cards haven't been there long enough. Most everyone I knew there was from back east and fans of other teams. If they were from out west and lived in Tempe they usually had no interest in football. Pics are awesome BigSkin and thanks to all those who screamed, yelled and chanted to ensure a victory and still a small playoff hope! I'm going to the game Sunday at home against Dallas and PROMISE to lose my voice! It's Dallas week everyone for the first time in 15 years!!! Let's get Fed Ex rocking like RFK!!!

I know there are a LOT of Skins fans in SoCal because I watch the games every week at Hollywood Billiards with about 50! But that stadium was PACKED with Skins fans! These dudes next to us had a big sign with a picture of Santana Moss wearing a Santa outfit that said: "Santana Claus". Funny shit! |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
And yes.... I participated in the chant... :dallas:
|
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
I feel like with so many fans there we should have crushed them. It must have been sweet to watch Sean Taylor fly all over the field and Rogers crushing receivers with a stadium full of Skins fans.

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
It was FILLED with Skins Fans -- I was there and every year we play here. It was Great -- Cardinals Fans were SHOCKED at the overwhelming Fans we had there. Not a great game, but we managed to "prevent" a loss finally. What is up with the play calling -- so boring and predictable -- and Brunell was horrible....PUT THE ROOKIE IN !!!

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
USA Today commented that there was a large contingent of Skins fans in Tempe. While I thought a decent number could show up out there, even that many surprised me. I can understand the Cowboys, Raiders or even the Bears and Packers (due to the large number of midwest snowbirds and retirees out there), but even that many was a very pleasant surprise. I listened to the game on Sirius and could clearly hear cheers everytime the Skins did something good.

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
I had 50 yard line seats and was about 15 rows back. It was my first redskins game EVER!
It was awesome. I think Salave'a was leading the charge on the sidelines a few times. We definitely represented and we drowned out the sorry Cardinals fans. The Brown return was beautiful, he was close to breaking it the last time since the Cardinals sent everything on the other side. Go Skins! |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
Hey Tagliaboo boo, Forget about moving the Saints to California....... Is there anyway the Cardinals can move to L.A. and then change their name so they aren't Cardinals anymore? At least this way geographically they would still be in the NFC West. They would have to attract more Home fans that way!
On another note, St. Louis and Arizona have to be a couple of the best places for Skins fans to get tickets to see their team play away from home. St. Louis sounded dead last week on TV. They don't support their team either. |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
Is it just me or do the Cardinals have the second most pansy-ass logo (Dolphins being the first)? Like even though the bird has a "mean face", it definitely has room to look angrier.
|
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
They already did try to make it look meaner
On the left is the old logo, on the right the "improved" one |

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
yeah they'd need to add fangs, a tattoo and maybe a scar to make that cardinal look mean...

Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
Yeah, cause if you're the Browns at least if you win you can stay, "We just did our symbol all OVER YOU."
|
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
I was in section 32, row 27. Lots of Skins fans there, but the stadium was at least half empty. It was the worst stadium experience (outside of the victory) that I've ever had.

Hi Duane Winslow (dlwredskins) here....I was there in section 19 behind where A Brown started running the KO for a TD.....We were singing HAIL TO THE REDSKINS from beginning of the game....Then the DEFENSE Chants, and the LET'S GO REDSKINS, LETS'S GO!!!! I told just about every redskin fan I saw in Tempe on Mill ave the night before and at Hooters (where there was a REDSKIN gathering) that once the game was in hand we were starting the WE WANT DALLAS chant...in section 19 we started it after the Cardinals last possession at the two minute warning then we did it again as the redskins headed for the tunnel with them pumping their fist to show their approval of all the skins fans there...I believe we had a lot there because the skins are on the eastcoast and don't come out west to much and that was the closest most people get to see the team....the skins fans at the game were GREAT!!!!! oh and DAVE sorry I could not find you if you are out there HAIL REDSKINS!!!!! |
Re: Arizona stadium - our home away from home?
At the game yesterday I saw more Skins jerseys than any other @AZ vs. Skins game I've ever been to. Once play started after the half I had more crap talked to me in the next 27 minutes of play than I ever had anywhere. I say 27 minutes because we were escorted out with 3 minutes to go. We were sitting in the second row on the Skins side 35 yard line and toward the north end zone. We had complete strangers screaming in our ears, people touching my hat, and one guy wanting to fight me and another girl wanting to fight my girlfriend. All we did was celebrate when it was warranted and shut our mouths when the Cards did something productive. Way to go Cards fans----you guys showed how much class you have or lack their of. On our way out of being hometeamed - blamed for their behavior, I pointed at the scoreboard to about a dozen people who were applauding that we were being kicked out. It was incredible to see so much burgundy and gold in the stands!
