Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Hopefully all the carolina fans who came on here and laughed at us about how they stole Gardner, will come back for their I TOLD YOU SO'S! :spank:
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
hahahahahaha
and the redskins were getting yelled at for getting a 6th round pick for him :dallas: |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Interesting turn of events.. What did we get for him? Funny how he and Coles are both having terrible seasons and Gibbs got ripped for getting rid of both of them. I think it still was a mistake to let McCants go, but the Gardner move is now vindicated.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
well if he didn't leave acting like an ass i might just want to get him back.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
From first round pick to being waived... way to go RG!
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
What happened to that guy? Isn't he supposed to be in the prime of his career? Is he taking pills for that?
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
imagine at one point we had Michael Westbrook AND Rod Gardner. how did we not win the superbowl with that combo??

Because we needed TO to bring the team together. |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Thats hilarious. Maybe Westbrook and Gardner can open up a Slippery FIngers Bar-B-Q restaurant together.

Good to have you back. :food-smil |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
i for one would bring him back.he isnt great by any stretch, but still better than taylor jacobs
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Ol' fitty fitty is a free agent again huh? I say give him a call, he has at least a degree of familiarity with the offense and he couldnt possibly be any worse than taylor jacobs. plus he's a big target in contrast to our other receivers. yeah he is a mediocre talent, but he's better than anything beyond santana on the depth chart.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
That's probably a roster move more than a 100% drop. The "bring back Rod Gardner" movement begins!
Plu-eeeze.:laughing2 |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
if he came back i'd actually welcome him, cause the no-names we've got are pretty bad.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
I don't want him back. He wanted out of the Redskins organization so why should we welcome him back? Screw that. Im still pulling for the Bar-B-Q place.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
I don't know if I'd give ol 50/50 another chance. If he worked hard to become at least 70/30, I might be willing. LOL!
|
I don't know if I'd give ol 50/50 another chance. If he worked hard to become at least 70/30, I might be willing. LOL!
Then we could trade him for another low-round draft pick. And people were talking about getting a 2nd rounder for him. LOL |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Why would we want this bum? He dissed us and there is no way Gibbs goes for a guy who doesn't believe in the organization. Also, he couldn't beat out old-as-dirt Ricky Proehl as third receiver. He can take a hike and go wherever Westbrook, Albert Connell, and Alvin Harper are hiding...
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Lets just shoot him........Hell, since he's not worth a dime...... bang, bang :yeahright

Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Guys...come on...i cant believe anyone has yet to see the writing on the wall.
It is quite obvious that Rod Gardner will be brought back to the skins for the remainder of the season...and then as soon as Smooty is found guilty of indecent sex acts and jettisoned from the Vikings...he too will be back with the skins. The thing people dont understand...is that Rod Gardner is actually a potential Hall of Famer... The coaching staff simply has him playing the wrong position. For as good as he is at not catching the ball...you would think he could do an excellent job as a defensive back...helping opponents to not catch the ball just like him. Then once we have a secondary made up of Sean Taylor, Shawn Springs, Fred Smoot, Carlos Rogers, and Ol 50-50, who with a little more work could most certainly improve (if you can call it that) by becoming even worse at catching the ball. I think 10-90 would be a realistic expectation. I am convinced his aura in and of itself on defense would cause opposing receivers to be awful against us... And on the few rare occasions they did catch the ball...they could look forward to getting hit with a runaway train named Taylor...that would teach them to never catch the ball again! The Jist...when this dream is realized next year...the redskins will have best secondary in the history of football...dare to dream fellas...dare to dream... |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Can anyone decipher this sentence from the Panthers website?
"Acquired in a trade from Washington prior to training camp, Gardner played in 10 games, did not play in one contest and was inactive for two others." |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
he played one snap (at least) in 10 games, was active for another (but never saw the field) and wasn't activated for 2 more.

Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Good luck catching those rockets from Favre.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
THAT should help Favre's numbers!
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
talk about a desperate team... he'll be a good fit for them though.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Next weeks caption - Gardner breaks three fingers, a thumb, and didn't catch a pass.
|
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Let's be a bit analytical here. Trust me, it won't hurt that much...
Gardner has had a bad year and has been a less than positive influence with the Panthers; but that is not news. That's what he has been and has done since he came into the league. Coles is a different story. If Jerry Rice had been the guy trying to catch passes from Vinny T. and Brooks Bollinger for all of his career, he wouldn't be on the fast track to the HoF either. |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Just goes to show you that talent gaurentees nothing,he lacks the drive and discipline.
what a shame he would have been good for us.now he canjust eat cheese for all i care. by the way did he ever find his rims?is his suv still on blocks at rfk? |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
I just checked. Rod Gardner was drafted AHEAD of Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne and Todd Heap in terms of pass catchers. Oh and Deuce McAlister was drafted after good old 50/50 too.
So, each and every person who was involved in the Skins' draft that year who pushed for Gardner ought to be BANNED from the scouting and drafting meetings for a decade. And that should include Danny Boy and Vinnie Boombatz if either of them even said "Boo" on the subject! |

Yeah I think McCants has proven to be a pretender. He couldn't even get much of a shot in Philly where it seems the beer guys were next in line to catch passes there. Clearly we overvalued him. |

Marty had sole control over that draft, as that was one of the stipulations of his taking control of the team. History aside, I think we can be happy that Snyder finally got his guy and that we have a WR of Moss' considerable skill level! |

Moss has proved to be a guy that just needed the chance to prove himself as a #1. I agree with your other points though. |

"Hey guys...here's a good idea! Let's draft a tall, slow possession WR with questionable hands in the first round. We'll be on our way then!"
You are correct Gardner was Martys guy, and yes Snyder wanted Moss. Although I saw an interview with Cerratto because he was doing commentary for the draft after we fired him, and his pick for the Skins before the draft started was Gardner, he felt Gardner was the best fit for us, and said thats who he would pick if he was still our GM, so we can include Vinnie in that pick as far as talent evaluation goes. |
Re: Panthers Drop Rod Like He's Hot
Why was it a mistake to let McCants go? He did nothing here and has done nothing in Phily.
McCants was cheap, and he was a big red zone target like Mike Sellers is now. He had six touchdowns in just 27 receptions, two years ago. Plus, at 6'3" and 215 lbs, he's bigger than any receiver on the roster. I still don't quite understand the hate for McCants. I mean of course he wasn't a gamebreaker, but he was a decent 3rd or 4th receiver. He produced far more than Jacobs ever has, and he was cheaper and picked deeper in the draft. I'm not sure what everyone expected from him. |
