Re: Well CRAP
"It's crazy and unfair that something I had very little to do with derailed my relationship with management," Arrington says. "You see they're not marketing you anymore. You see people interacting with other people the way they used to interact with you. I watched how things were with Stephen Davis. I watched how things were with Champ [Bailey]. I saw the same things happening to me.
Seriously what the **** is wrong with this organizaton- the only thing is this news is not surprising nor upseting me. |
Re: Well CRAP
Im just afraid Greg Williams will be next. Not because of the org. but a head coaching job.
|
Re: Well CRAP
THAT is one of the problems with Lavar Arrington-what a soap opera!
|
Re: Well CRAP
I hate to see him go but I have also watched him miss a boat load of tackles. Those one arm attempts just dont cut it. Hes never in on crucial 3rd downs anyway so If Williams sticks around he'll find a replacement. Hell he already did the first half of the year.
|
Re: Well CRAP
i love lavar but how can he say he had little to do with the derailed relationship?he and his agent signed the contract in good faith and then to drag the whole organization thru this process was really a slap in the face.this is really a life lesson,READ BEFORE YOU SIGN
|
Re: Well CRAP
he was just on the John Thompson show and i didn't hear that either but from what i heard about it he was talking about how he and marcus were gonna kill QBs NEXT YEAR after he gets better in the offseason

Lavar brought this attitude on himself. The injury not withstanding. "We Want Philly" smilie needed here! |
Re: Well CRAP
**** LAVAR IF HE SAID THIS THIS WEEK BECAUSE THIS IS THE SHIT THAT CAN DISTRACT US OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS
**** THE WRITER IF HE HAD THIS INTERVIEW WEEKS AGO AND IS NOW BEING A BITCH This is not the time for either of them to say shit like this. we are gonna make the playoffs for the first time in 6 years and now instead of the playoffs its all gonna be about lavar this, lavar that. |
Re: Well CRAP
I don't know how much of this is truly LaVar's sentiments, and how much of it is editing and journalism. I mean no doubt, this guy is hurt over all of this whether it's his fault or not.
We'll see how all this plays out. If the Redskins can get deep into the playoffs, everything may change. You never know. One thing is for sure, winning can cure a lot of hurt. |
Re: Well CRAP
Its an old interview it really is. My friend broke from discussion to tell me how good of an atmosphere it was on the John thompson show and in the Post TODAY
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/27/AR2005122700960.html "I just think that everybody believes now," linebacker LaVar Arrington said. "And when you get a situation where everybody believes in the same thing, and you get the momentum going in one direction, I've said it all along: We've got a special group of guys. This is a special mix we have, and to not take advantage of that is a crime. And I think guys really focused in that we were letting the season slip away." -------------------------------------------- http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/27/AR2005122700915_pf.html Arrington Is Confident About Where Team Ranks By Howard Bryant Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, December 28, 2005; E04 For an indication of how far the Washington Redskins have come, at least in attitude, consider the words of linebacker LaVar Arrington, who believes the team has earned the right to start thinking big. Arrington makes a case for the Redskins in a fairly wide-open NFC race, pointing out that they've beaten the conference's top two seeds, Seattle and Chicago, at FedEx Field. "When you think about all the other things we've had to endure through and accomplish, you realize this is a special group," he said. "It is a group that believes in itself, believes in the mission." The Redskins beat Chicago, 9-7, in the season opener and Seattle, 20-17 in overtime, on Oct. 2 to start the season 3-0. Seattle has since won 11 straight games, while the Bears have the NFL's best defense. The two are 20-2 in the NFC this season, with the only losses being to the Redskins. "You're talking about one of the best teams, maybe the best team playing right now in Seattle, and we played very well against them," he said. "You're talking about the Chicago Bears, who are arguably challenging them for that role, and we played pretty well against them. I don't even think we were playing our best football then. I wasn't even on the field then. And I think it'd be even more different if we were. That being said, we've got guys in fairly good health, which we haven't had in past years." Baby on the Way While Arrington is excited about the chance to play in the postseason for the first time, he could have a scheduling conflict because his wife is due to give birth to their daughter, Marlee, on Jan. 15. That is the second Sunday of the playoffs and Arrington said doctors may opt to induce labor. The baby's name is the product of compromise, Arrington said. He's a big fan of Bob Marley, the late singer, and his wife's middle name is Lee. |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
There is a reason the washington times is bush league...
Bringing this up now does nothing for Lavar or the team. I'd like to see Lavar as a Redskin for the rest of his career, but since Gibbs is back our organization realizes the word TEAM and not PLAYER is more important. Sure Arrington and Smoot and Bailey can bitch, but it's not all about 1 player. In the past 5 years we've had Deion, Bailey, Bruce Smith, Smoot, Davis, Carrier, Arrington, Coles, Morton and Spurrier, Turner and that DT that got injured in a Mickie D's parking lot in Denver. We are winning now with Portis, Moss, Cooley, Brunell, Taylor, Springs, Jansen, Samuels, etc. Team effort, teams win superbowls. TO and McNabb couldn't do it, but the Patriots know what team means, so did the Ravens when they won it. I love Arrington and I hope he stays, but I was a Redskins and Gibbs fan before Arrington was in high school! |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
Shhhhh........
It's starting they said something on 980 already. hold on to your computer chairs. |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
I think thats an old interview. I really think that things are going better at this point than how the writer of that article tries to portray it. I also read a quote from arrington saying that he expected to be alot better next season once he had a healthy offseason to rehab...and was excited about playing here.
With his cap number i really dont think we'll cut him. I do think he will restructure to help the team now that he is playing. I think what this writer did...is take old quotes from arrington...that were gathered during the time he wasn't playing...then throw in a couple of current facts about how we were on the verge of making playoffs to make it seem like he had a story to tell...when really he is talking out of his ass. I expect and hope arrington will be back next season...(hopefully with gregg williams) and a few select upgrades on the d-line...and that our defense will hopefully be at or very near the top of the league next year!!! As for this year...we are already good...so lets stay healthy...make the playoffs...and make a hell of a lot of noise once we get there!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
It makes more sense to keep him cap wise, unless we can afford to take another monster cap hit like we did with Coles, which I doubt is going to happen.
I can't see him retiring, he's too young and has too much $$ to make. |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
If it comes to a move, what are our financial options with Lavar? I realize it has been posted before, but the massive loss of brain cells in my youth precludes any long term memory of a Lavar Arrington nature.
|
Re: Arrington's last stand?
THe washington times is the worst newspaper ever. This is definetly old stuff. Are they trying to derail the team???????
|
Re: Arrington's last stand?
I don't get this right now coming from Arrington, this has to be something old with some more recent material mixed in with the rest of the garbage. Even so Lavar saying the crap about management is mad about him and football is not that important to him. I remember just two or three years ago him going off on players for not taking losses serious and the joking around after games. If this is true, Arrington really is a cry baby, and can't handle not being an individual standout on what we have a team environment with no me, me, me, mentality.

We are gonna have to work a little magic with the cap numbers (nothing that Im not confident we can do with ease) but there is no way we could take a $13m hit by releasing or trading him. I just dont see how it could possibly work... |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
Unfortunately, LaVar doesn't seem to have learned anything about who Joe Gibbs wants on the team. He says he watched attitudes change towards Bailey, Smoot and others but attitudes changed when these players decided to "negotiate" performing at their high levels for financial rewards not included in their contracts. LaVar began doing the same thing with the Brothers Postons and then complaining about their capabilities when he didn't even read the contract himself. This is the same approach TO used and we see how that turned out. If you are going to have a high paying job, you had better convince your boss every day that that is the only thing that matters in your life and do it the best you can all of the time. Does he think Martyball can be played part time too? Send him back to State College to get more degrees and learn about management of organizations and incentives.

is this writter just blowing shit out his ass or is he right about
Arrington wouldn't be a Redskin next season even if things still were amicable between him and the organization. He is due $12 million in 2006, and he likely will be cut before a July 15 deadline in his contract that calls for him to be paid $6.5 million if he still is on the roster.
do we save 6.5 by cutting him?? |

o i mean that is another article and it seems as if Lavar is happy in it. I didn't mean that it was an actual old article. I should clarify the interview is old and the writer just wrote the article at the worst time to do it. Lavar just seems to happy on the radio and in every other media outlet to say crap like this |

I was wondering, because I clicked on it earlier this morning and it was the article about Lavar. I didn't realize you changed it. |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
He is a great player and yes it's a slap in the face what the Organization does to its star players but it also has something to do with how bad the Org has mannege the cap and how much Dead money it has each year they have to cut and sign new players to stay under the cap.
Also I don't know when the Interview was but it felt like Ricky Williams was being interviewed, it tells that he doesn't has a lot of passion and I don't want that in my team even thought he is a great player like Ricky. Heck Ricky is only playing because he's broke I don't think a lot of teams are going to call on the door if he continues with that speach but it also sounded to me like a guy who likes where he lives who doesn't want to start in another place and thats why he's making all this talks. |

Hell Yeah I Bet U He Said That Weeks Ago Or Its A Rumor, Man That Rumor Could Take R Focus Away From The Playoffs.

The way he talked about not playing made him seem so sad it would make you sad just listening to it. He doesn't like to say bad things about the organizatoin that is why i am surprised by this article. The thing is when lavar talks about not playing he gets real quiet and talks slow and then he just trys to rationalize. Like one time he said on the radio. I am just not good enough to be a starter. reading what he said makes him sound nonchalant but he really is just rationalizing. It seemed like it was hard for him to say that he wasn't starting quality. He always says he will fight back to a starting spot. When lavar got back on the field just listening to him the next day on the radio just put a smile on my face and i didn't even realize i was smiling until half way through it. |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
I wonder where this writer is from, this bastard could be a Cowboy or Eagle fan writing for the Washington paper trying to stir shit and take focus off the Skins and the need for this win. I know the Times is usually behind, but damn a couple months.

Re: Arrington's last stand?
If anyone knows or can find out when Laver's daughter was born that would tell how old the article is because they said she was do anytime. If you find that out it might also give the answer to question #3.

I bet if LaVar doesn't know the answer to question 3, SkinsGirl does. |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
I see what's up with the times now. Irresponsible reporting. Wether the quotes are recent or archived is acedemic. The point is that this should never have been written during the season when the Skins are preparing for a critical game. This is all conjecture on the writer's part. The cap number is going to go up next year and it is possible that they keep Lavar. You know Synder and Jerry Jones type owners with cash have been working behind the scenes to get that cap number up for next year. There may be no reason to cut Lavar with a bigger cap number. Its no wonder Lavar had stopped talking to the media in the past. Damn shame this was written now.
|
Re: Arrington's last stand?
This just might fire Lavar up to play a hard game and show that article is wrong. After reading it again it sounds like an interview from when Lavar was not playing. Is this the same paper that the Skins have had a little fued with over the past couple of years?
|
Re: Arrington's last stand?
One thing that is true, winning changes everything. If we go far in the playoffs, I think the Skins will make him an offer to restructure his contract in the offseason. I hope he takes it. I want him to be a "skin for life". Snyder needs to put his emotions aside and let this team build around its stars. It's not often you get a player that is dedicated to the team, and not himself.
|

His daughter is due around the first to middle of January I think the 10th to 15th from what I have read. There is no doubt the article is new, but when the interview took place and the truth or accuracy to the material. |

So is Brad pitt, doesn't mean he can get it done on the field, we would take Ware, or Spears in a heartbeat for Arrington, and laugh while you find out what we already know, Arrington has been the most overated player in football, and yes that includes Vick. |
Re: Arrington's last stand?
lavar wants to be a redskin. All this writer is trying to do is stir up controversy. He's writing an article that he knows will be a big issue. Those quotes are probably really old.
