Re: coles v.s. cooley
Dude that is scarier than it is cool
They are exactly the same in terms of catches and yards therefore average and TDs are close but ofcourse my boy cooley has 2 more |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
does anyone think coles can do waht moss has done this year?i would be shocked if anyone said yes

It would be impossible to speculate do to the QB turnover. I think 4 qbs have thrown for them this year. LC is a warrior, but we have no idea if his toe is healed. |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
Even if Coles was 100% healthy I don't think he could do what Moss has done under similar circumstances.
Moss is much quicker, faster, has better hands, runs sharper routes, etc. Coles may have good straight line speed, but I've never seen anyone in a Redskins uniform make the moves that Moss makes. How many WR screens has he broken for big gains this year?? We threw the same screens to Coles last year and I don't recall him breaking any for big gains. |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
i agree .just the difference between someone who is a playmaker, and someone who isnt
|
Re: coles v.s. cooley
Moss is also a better run blocker. He isn't afraid to hit anyone.
|
Re: coles v.s. cooley
Look at the hysteria caused when Coles was leaving, and we were getting the lowly Moss! It does Moss a disservice to be mentioned in the same breath as Coles! Who would have thought?
I guarantee Moss scares the HELL out of other teams as well. When we get a legit # 2 reciever, we are going to have a wicked passing game! |

Re: coles v.s. cooley
Moss is the perfect fit for you guys he wasn't that big in NY just 1 good year he is the perfect player for the system taht gibbs is using best FA (Trade) adquisision for the redskins since Snyder took over
Second best Portis Finally he's doing some good for your franchise |
I watched the moves, especially the "quick-triple-stutter-step-and-go" move on the second TD, he put on Will Allen countless times and they were done to perfection. Pure art form. I have never seen anyone do what he can do with his feet in a Skins uniform. Not even our great WR of the past. |

I think our offense would be unstoppable at that point. |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
What about Moss' brother?
He coming out late enough to get him in 2nd/3rd? That'd be fun wouldn't it? |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
What if Greg Williams went to Oakland in trade for Randy Moss? Maybe they'll want Ramsey? Whatever speculation we've got let's save the real stuff for the offseason. Right now we're going to war to KILL THE EAGLES Sunday afternoon!!!

Re: coles v.s. cooley
I'm just glad we locked up Moss to a new contract BEFORE he had this amazing season. Coles got a new contract from the Jets as well, OOPS!

Funny because many of us were all up in arms over giving a new contract to an unproven Moss. :) |

Ricky had amazing speed and some sick moves... but he was just never featured as a number 1 reciever and used to the extent that moss was, because IMHO we had a better corps of complimentary recievers. |

Do you remember what the details were on his contract? Hopefully he wont be asking for a new one anytime soon. |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
Looking at the great Gibbs teams of the past, we always had a burner at WR in Gary Clark or Ricky Sanders and then we had a big target in Art Monk. Probably what we need is another big target. However, Cooley has probably served in that role this season. Moss makes people miss, while Cooley just runs over guys. Have you guys noticed like I have this year that the first guy that hits Cooley, almost never brings him down? It is always the second or third guy. Unlike many of you, I have not lost faith in Patten just yet. Right now we just aren't using anyone other than Moss and Cooley, but I think Patten can still be a big part of this team next year.

Can't argue with that. Gary Clark and Art Monk. In any given game, any one of those guys could be considered a #1 guy. I always thought of Clark being #1 because of his homerun ability, followed by Art Monk and Ricky Sanders being the #3 receiver. |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
im not saying that coles is as good or better than moss but too many people forgot so quickly that we are a much better team than we were last year and the jets are much worse, and not because of this trade. that in itself is going to make moss look better and coles look worse.

It's hard to compare a TE to a WR, but obviously Santana Claus is much better than L. Coles, who refused to have toe surgery, he still hasn't had it, and he's not as fast as he used to be. Cooley is in the Top 10 in NFC receivers, with 2 more TDs and no LB can cover him. You have to rate him in the top tier TEs in the league, behind Gates and Heap. I would rather have him than Shockey for his consistency and instincs and Gonzalez doesn't catch TDs anymore. Our foes have to double Santana but Cooley can run through guys. Coles and Gardner are hacks and didn't want to be here. Wasn't Cooley a 3rd round draft pick, too? We like the U, not FSU (see Portis, Moss, S. Taylor). Cooley. |
Re: coles v.s. cooley
Cooley stats even look pretty good against Randy Moss....889 and 6 tds for Moss and 766 adn 7 tdsfor the Coolanator. Heck he's right there with Heap, Gonzo and Crumpler in yards and has more tds then Crump and Gonzo. In his second YEAR! Go Cooley, Go Cooley.

Re: coles v.s. cooley
There is no doubting that Moss is a serious scare to our competition. They MUST double him or risk being "allaned". Having said that, we are extremely thin at the WR position...
1. Moss 2. Patten 3. Trash 4. Jacobs 5. Brown 6. Farris I will give Patten a pass this year, due to injury. But Trash, is getting old, Jacobs is a bust (how many years now?) ,Brown is not consistent, and Farris is just too much of an uknown. We need serious upgrading on WR 3-4, that will allow our current 3-4 to move to 5-6. I am just disgusted with Jacobs. I have read here before that Brunnel won't throw to him. Brunnel just doesn't trust him. (period) Jacobs has to earn that respect from Brunnel. We don't need a major overhaul here. We just need to improve our depth. If we cut Farris and Jacobs, that opens up 2 positions, maybe one for a draft choice, and one for a FA. my 2 cents..... |

when coles first came into the league ,he burned up the combine 40 time around 4.2 i think that toe injury is a bigger issue than he lets on.why in the world doesnt he get it taken care of?

I like Coles a lot, I don't think we was as productive as Moss, but he worked hard while he was here. He has had some bad quarterback experiences over the last couple years, but his performance with Pennington the last year he was healthy and the first year he was was Washington earns him some credit. Sometimes I wonder if the toe surgery has some type of weird side effect, like losing your toe or if it isn't curable anyway. |

Re: coles v.s. cooley
That was certainly one of the best trades the Redskins have made in a long time, I can't believe the Jets were dumb enough to trade Moss for Coles. It's funny because Daniel Snyder wanted Marty to draft Santana Moss in 2001 and he took Gardner instead. And as far as Cool is concerned he is definitely one of the best up and coming TE's in the league. I can't remember seeing him dropping a single pass in all the games I've seen him play.
As far as another WR to go with Moss for next year, there should be someone available during the offseason who we can pick up who can be adequate opposite Moss. I wish the Skins had kept Darnarian McCants, he had good size and maybe he could have developed in to a #2 WR. And let's go RAIDERS tonight against the Giants! We need your help Norv! lol. |
