The All Things Entitled Lavar Thread
There's an exclusive interview with Lavar tonight at 11 p.m. on channel 9 news.
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
Thanks for the update... I'll be watching!
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
Misquoted?? that is a little well that is easy way out. I am and always will be a lavar supporter but like Jerry seinfeld said todays sports people don't cheer for players, they cheer for laundry and whoever is wearing that laundry is who they cheer for.
Lavar in my opinion will be here next year. i want him here but if he said any of this shit this week i am gonna get pissed because as gibbs said the entire town should have one focus-eagles. I am glad he now has to waste his ****ing time on the news because he wasted time earlier this week. Better have a good excuse |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
bauer... take it easy... we don't know the whole story yet..
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
56 needs to go. And instead of retiring that number, burn it.
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
we dont need anyone who creates friction during the week of the biggest game for the redskins in the last 6 years.the redskins and coach gibbs have already proved that NO ONE is bigger than the redskins organization
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
I love these threads that say I love Lavar...BUT, its time for him to get the hell out of Washington.
Dude says he was misquoted. I'm gonna at least give him the benefit of the doubt. |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
He's always misquoted and always the victim.
It's getting old. Just shut up and play. |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
i'm one of lavar's biggest fans and i would hate for him to be cut. I realize this situation is becoming kind of old, and fans get tired of it. But i still see a lot of hate directed toward him the past few years. It's like people blame him for all of the redskins past problems. One player can't ruin a season. He hasn't been the same since that knee injury, but give him a good offseason with no problems and I believe he will be back 100% next year. These past two years, true, he hasn't been worth it, but is it worth it to cut him just because of that? Even if lavar doesn't do shit on the field, when he's out there other teams account for him and where he's at. I believe that he still wants to finish his career as a redskin on a good note.
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
This should not be something the Redskins need to worry about with one of the biggest games in years this Sunday. Beat Philly, go to the playoffs and win then discuss LaVar. Can't let it become a distraction.
|
He's always misquoted and always the victim.

He didn't portray himself as a victim or attack Greg Williams and Gibbs, but instead went into the film room, studied, and got better. Seems to me like just shutting up and playing is what he's trying to do with this current situation. |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
Any updates yet?
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
This isn't the first time he's been "misquoted." Perhaps he should learn to think before he speaks.
|
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
Well i guess it was exclusive. -he was standing by his car with the door open- ummmm was it an interview, meh 2 questions
- "i want to be a redskin, whether i am wanted or not I don't know. I'm unsure about it-Just like i said in the article- I'm unsure about it(saying this shruggy his sholders and talking fast.) - "but i want to be here and another thing i made very clear is I feel very strongly about my fans I-i kno-kn I SEEN they feel strongly bout me. That, that is what i talked about. -" this isn't me trying to be a pre madonna or anything like that you know i I have handled this situation- WHAT EVER MY Situation has been during the whole season with dignity and respect" ------------------------------------- that is the enitire thing word for word. We never heard the questions |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
I dont know if he was misquoted or if these are old comments but it does not seem like Lavar is happy here. From what I can gather and after hearing him tonight on CBS news, it seems as if he definitely said something this week, and that is enough for me to say that he probably has to go. Sure, the media could have exaggerated his comments and made them look worse than they really were, but for Lavar to even bring up any issues he has with the organization dealing with him personally and not the team cannot be condoned at a time like this. He's got to think about the team and realize that we are gearing up for possibly the biggest game in years and don't need any sort of distraction.
We were the number three defense in the league without him last year and I know we will be just fine if he isnt a Redskin anymore. As for the present, stop stirring up conflict and go out and play. Otherwise, he can sit on the bench. |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
He didn't say anything about being misquoted. He just said i want to be here, I love the fans here, they love me... I am unwanted:cheeky-sm

i don't care if they locked lavar up in a cage, made him preform dances for the Big Dan, serve the players and feed him raw meat this was not the time to say this shit. It is a distraction and i don't care about the circumstances or that it isn't my life. He is a millioniare, hell the interview was given in his 20,000 sq ft. mansion. This isn't the time. Gibbs said that he wishes everyone in the town was focused on philly. Well with this shit i know that isn't gonna happen and it is not easy. Ofcourse it is a distraction. Lavar going into this game and thinking it might be his last game of his career(that is where he acts like a pre madonna)is a distraction. Gibbs said ifanyone would say somehting like that now it is rediculous. So i will go by what gibbs said. It -being lavar- is rediculous. I road his band wagon to the ground. The thing is he does love the fans and we do love him. i don't know what the **** he is talking about. The fact is we can't cut him. Maybe he learned that the cap situation favors the redskins by a lot like the reporter said-6.5 million- and now is scared this might be his last game as a skin. If the cap is the way i think it is then lavar will be here next year and now NOW he has a problem with management. I think that he still is GREAT not good great and i don't need to saythat he is my favorite player anymore because he is LAVAR ARRINGTON the face of the redkins. I just want him here next year playing for us with him mouth shut. |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
You have to look at his demeanor while giving the interview. If he really did not say anything like what was reported, he would have denounced the whole issue completely, which he didn't do.

well when he said "I'm unsure about it-Just like i said in the article- I'm unsure about it" i think he clarified that he did say that in the article. It was just cbs saying arrrrgggg how do we get these people to watch this show arrrrgggg. Ok heres an idea after we tell them that wearing socks is dangerous enough to make you sterile we can tell them that lavar is denying everything, yah that will keep them watching. |

they get paid to play football how does this interfer with preparation in anyway.... the only ones distracted our us fans and the media..... and we dont play the game!!! oh but maybe greg williams is gonna lecture for an hour on the contract and not prepare the team.....its a joke.... |

by the way i hear every channel had this interview and they all chopped it up the way they wanted. Lavar on someother channel said that the writer put his own spin on it

So far what i know is -- lavar thinks he might be gone next year due to cap situations- well that is a given most of us think the same thing -- Lavar still loves the fans -- Lavar wants to play here next year more than anywhere else -- Lavar feels unwanted. Might be true but a couple weeks ago he said that he should have handled things differently. --The timing is horrible. I guess we will disagree, i think the defense will be distracted. I have pictures from the chargers game in which i took a picture of the players entering and i didn't notice while i was taking the pictures that lavar was standing in the middle and everyone that ran by him on his left and on this right slapped his hand. He waited till the end. He is still a leader on this team and him being upset takes away focus from this game. Thinking this is his last professional game is a distraction to those on defense. Gibbs says its a distraction so its a distraction --Lavar is still my boy |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
Well the media is trying to make more of this i just saw lavar on tv saying it was alot of his own opinions... and he i worried about philly now..... but bauer i wont fight with you i have been very entertained by your posts on the eagles board ... you have my respect...... and i am clouded alot by the fact that Lavar maybe my all time favorite football player....

yeah, its all fine we all have our opinions. Now after further thinking I just don't think lavar did anything wrong. He is saying he might not be here next year. The thing is everyone from the guys at ESPN to your average joe has thought this. I think it is impossible due to the cap hit we will take. According to http://redskins.scout.com/3/2006_Salary_Cap.html the skins hit from my man lavar is about 500,000 more than if we kept him. No way will we pay to take him away. Our very own CrazyCunuck does a great job and his cap also shows a difference in about 700,000. Now if the writer of the times is right that means we save 6.5 million by cutting him and if that is true lavar should be scared of because he WILL be gone. BUt if everyone else is right lavar in my opinion will be lighting people up for years to come as a redskin. I am not mad at lavar but it does seem that there is something wrong with big boy dan. Everyone leaves on such bad terms. Smoot and pierce shouldn't be upset but like lavar said it happened to davis, coles and bailey. All fan favorites, all taken down by dan. Lavar didn't have to bad talk the organization this week but the thing is if he did this 5weeks ago i would call him crazy or 4 weeks ago or 3 or 2 or last week or next week. If he wants to get this off his chest this was the best week to do it but the quote that hurt me was. "Causing a fumble to win a game or getting an interception to change a season, that's not the extent of my life," he says. "It never has been. I always see myself as a person first. Maybe coaches get upset that I don't take myself or this game too seriously and they do. Maybe they get upset because I see it as a game and nothing more than a game." Lavar was Lavar because he fought hard and if he is saying that he doesn't take the game as seriously as the coaches do then i feel like i was wrong about him. I think this is not what he meant but he did say it. |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
I love Lavar, but I love the Redskins more. I still think he can come back and be a great player for us and just wish we do not have to keep going through this ordeal. I agree that the damn media is really doing a number on us all and making us think one thing when the truth maybe the exact opposite. I'm just ticked that all of this is coming a few days before our last (and most important) regular season game. Let's just forget about all this and take things as they come. If we have him, great. If not, its no question that he would be missed but what can you do?

I don't think it is Lavar vs. The redskins It might be lavar vs. Snyder but not the redskins. I love the skins more too but sinse he isn't against them I am still on Lavar's side. Lavar is just worried thats all. he is worried that he won't be with his favorite fans and his favorite team. He feels he will be gone |

good 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
There's not even any point in discussing whether or not LaVar will be here next year. He's done as a Redskin. Everyone is making a very valid point about how it's cheaper to keep him, but when has dead cap space ever been a concern in Washington? Deion Sanders, Jeff George, Stephen Davis, Jeremiah Trotter, Laverneus Coles... any of those names ring a bell? Snyder could care less about dead cap money, especially when he's being called out by a player on his team.
So yes, LaVar will be gone after this season, and everyone will turn on him for wanting out of possibly the worst run team in the league(I'm talking about the front office, not the coaching staff), just like we turned on Champ Bailey, Fred Smoot, Antonio Pierce, and every other standout player who has left for valid reasons. And five years down the road, when the same thing has happened to Brunell, and probably Portis and Taylor, I'm sure we'll all have turned on them by then too. That's just the way we do it in Washington. |
Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
I Agree. Lavar is done in Washington, unless he does some miracle stuff in the next game and the playoffs. He is no favorite to the Dan.

Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career
I've been in my present position 34 yrs. I say a lot of things about my organization all of the time. Mostly disparaging.
No microphones record my every word, and I spew a lot of words! Is it a distraction to anyone else near me, or who works with me? No! Will I still want to retire in the near future from this organization? Yes! Will I still talk it down to a degreee? Yes. So what! Let's move on. If you can't talk about who/what you work for, how they treat you, just what are you going to talk about? A "We Want Philly" smilie needed here! |

I love Lavar as a player and the excitement he brings to watching the game when he is in, but him worried that Snyder/management does not talk with him or treat him like he does other players is kind of silly. You are paid a wealthy sum of money to play not be liked by management. Lavar gets so caught up in what the media prints and takes it to heart that it is the truth and going to happen. He recites or paraphrases in many of his outburst what people think of him that is in the papers or on the news. I know this is new to him being on the negative side of some of the prints in the paper this year, but he needs to step his professionalism up and stop taking things so personal. Look at Ramsey who handled his situation which was much harder to handle than Snyder not liking you or feeling appreciated. Look at the D-Line, Daniels who has just been bashed in the media for his lack of play and overall weakness as a unit, he stepped up his play and is getting praise. Walt Harris continually on the negative side of the media, but when it has counted stepped up and made key plays. What is common with all these other players is they handled the situations professionally. Warrick Holdman have you seen anything in the papers with him bashing Lavar and the coaching staff for benching him. For Lavar to remain he is going to have to practice what he preaches and stop with the me, me, me cry and bitch sessions to the media. Before it was tired of losing (they are winning and on the verge of a playoff appearance his first), next he faulted the organization for handling his injury poorly and rushing him back ( he wanted to rush and get back, not the org wanting him to rush back last year, next it was contract issues (his agents messed it up, Gibbs tried to quickly put it behind them), next it was his lack of playing time (he is playing quite a bit except on third down and contributing heavily and the organization now being cautious about rushing him back from injury), now it is management and Redskins do not want him anymore, not feeling the love. It is unbelievable and Lavar needs to stop feeding his emotions off the media, and other peoples opinions of why he is in situations that he is in. Lavar comparing the current Redskins under Gibbs/Snyder era to the previous five years is ridiculous. Smoot and Pierce were wanted by the skins, but they are not going to hurt the organization by breaking the bank under Gibbs, why would you pay Smoot more than Shawn Springs, bringing in Springs for Bailey paid Divedends in the cap at a much cheaper rate and he is shut down. Ridiculous to say I've seen what they did to previous players Coles asked to be gone, gladly we don't need that here he did it to himself and suffering in NY this year. Lavar keep quiet and stop reading the papers and watching the news when sports comes on. |
