As far as I'm concern he can go. He's hardly ever healthy. He gets beat frequently. Trade that bum right now!

This could not have come at a worst time IMO. I hope this doesn't result in us not being able to do Schreff's deal. Come on Schaffer, do your magic!

WTF!

can't argue about him being injured or being a piss test away from missing a full season but he is not a bum. He is one of the best in the business.

Gotta have Silverblunt and Schreff on the Oline...find a way and get it done.

Dude has been an absolute monster for years for us, and now this shit?! Ugh. Goddamn, the roller-coaster ride of being a Skins fan. Straight up, why NOW?

Maybe the worst we have seen, does he know TW has given up the least amount of sacks over the span he was drafted?? Probably not.

You know what they say, the best ability is availability. I'm not sure that statement completely applies when you're talking about a player of his caliber, and what he brings to the field when he is available, but he's missed something like 13 or 14 games in the last 3 years. Couple that with the fact that hes 31, I do think they have to be careful about how much they pay him, if they do give him a new contract. It does suck though, because where does that leave us if they can't get it done, with Erick Flowers? He has some leverage here, just hope it doesn't put the team in a bind... I suppose it could cause them to rethink the idea of releasing Norman...

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

I personally don't mind if the team pays Trent, I just wish this was happening next year. Perhaps his health scare has changed something in him, which is understandable. It is just that I'm sure the team wasn't counting on this and now they have to pay him and Schreff.

For people who are on the "pay him" camp, are you willing to lose Schreff in order to pay TW?

Perhaps it may be possible to pay them both, but we don't know how much money Schreff is demanding. Or perhaps they can pay both but leave nothing left for an emergency signing.

I'm sure the triumvirate of idiocy (Paulsen, Russell, and Sheehan) are going to have a field day bitching the team about this. I just think it sucks and it is almost bad luck that this is happening to them.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

No way I’m paying TW over keeping schreff...younger and hasn’t hit prime. TW has 2 years left...i don’t see him missing game checks, maybe offer to see where he is after this year when we have more cap flexibility.

Let me make something crystal clear for you and the rest of people here. I'm not about to get up in arms about some overrated, overpaid loser like Trent Williams. You can kiss his ass all you want. I'm not going to do it. I've seen this bum jump off sides, get holding calls calls in critical times, get abused mediocre pass rushers, and he's always injured. If he doesn't want to be here then we should let him go. It's bad enough he's nowhere near as good as he gets credit for. But for him to wait till the day of mandatory mini camp show me that he doesn't care about this team or the fans. I say trade this bum right now and lets go full rebuild mode.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

If they can make the numbers work I'm all for paying him. He's a top LT. Anyone who says otherwise is a moron. But if there's a legit trade offer you'd have to consider it.
