3h Can #WashingtonFootball fans give some love to John Bates? 1st in the NFL in @PFF Run Blocking Grade for TEs 12.8 Yards Per Reception (9th in the NFL for TEs) 13th most receiving yards among rookie WRs & TEs Not bad for a day 3 rookie with limited college production.
It’s been a nice surprise, but you can really see the growth in his game since the beginning of the season. Really hoping Logan Thomas can come back healthy cause those 2 TE sets could be nasty. |
As a rookie? That's a big ask.
Andrews had 34 catches as a rookie just for some perspective.
jokes |

I’m really hoping Samuel and Thomas can put these injuries behind them because look at rooster of skill positions it’s young but solid. Starting outside receivers Terry and Cam Sims with Samuel in slot Logan Thomas and Bates at TE Brown, Dax, Reyes developing. And bring back RSJ vet TE for competition and to take out camera men We just need competent QB play |
Re: Post draft breakdown
Looks like they definitely hit right on Bates. Legitimate No. 2 TE with possible starting potential. That'll work where he was drafted.

Re: Post draft breakdown
Too early to give up on Jamin Davis - I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do next year on the outside and with a hopefully competent mike teaching and directing him where he needs to be.
Cosmi has been good - when he's on the field. Hoping for less injuries next year. Dyami Brown needs more seasoning - plus I'd like to see what he does with a competent QB playing. Bates has been the surprise of the rookie class, he was touted as a good blocker coming out of college but his hands have been a pleasant surprise. We might finally have a decent backup behind Logan Thomas for once. |
Re: Post draft breakdown
Q - are we the only NFL team with every single '21 draft pick still on the roster? If we are, while it's not a ringing endorsement, it's certainly a positive.

Brown was a project type WR for the NFL, given his college offense. I still think he's going to be a good one. |
Re: Post draft breakdown
I can’t believe it took most of the season to figure out Davis would be better outside and that Collins would be a lot better as a hybrid DB/LB.. they never did fix the pass rush .. in fact Chase went backwards in production .. So as we give out grades let’s grade the Coaches .. JDR gets a D the only reason it’s not a F is injuries/covid ..

He gets a P from me. I can't grade the man after all that happened. I doubt he ever had the same starting lineup two weeks in a row this year. The D played really well in some stretches, and the D played really bad in some stretches. Fix that LB unit, add a legit safety, and bring back that D-line and I think they will be fine. |
Re: Post draft breakdown
Jamin Davis, my draft grade for him after his first year is a “Deez”. He can get them after seeing him make zero memorable plays and being a jag

It sure didn't look good for him this year. I'm inclined to give him the rookie pass and hope he gets it together in year two, but man... He was a disappointment to say the least. Parsons played in 26 games in college and none in 2020 - came out ballin' Davis played in 25 games in college and 10 in 2020 - came out stallin' He was drafted just seven spots after M Parsons and there is zero comparison between the two. |

Davis was always seen as a guy who needs more experience. |
