JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Kinda surprised we don't have one of these going yet...
I think 99% of us are kinda MEH at this point. I really don't know what to expect but I'll pick us just because I'm a homer. WSH 26 JAX 20 Wentz 2 TD passes 0 INTs |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Wentz will be next in a long line of DC passers that produce some great highlights and some frustrating lowlights.
I'll say DC 13 Jags 17 - everytime I pick us to win we lose. This team doesn't impress at all so far. |

^^ quick link to Logan Paulsen's jags D breakdown. After listening, Im scared. Paulsen break downs and explaining next level football concepts is a must listen imo. Said they play the run real well with their big guys, edge w Trayvon Walker (2022 1.1) and DE Josh Allen (2019 1.7) are really good. LBs - Devin lloyd (2022 1.27) and FA addition Foyesade Oluokon (3 yrs 45M this offseason - 192 tackles last year) ---- Cant run between tackles into the strength of their D, need to spread them out and look for mismatches. Cant do run on first and run on second down. Said when we were playing NE and Vince wilfork, Kyle Shanahan called rotating plays of 21 personnel to 11 back to 21 then 11 etc to make Vince Wilfork have to run on and off the field after every play and by the 3rd snap he was on oxygen. |

Skins 24
Jags 20 |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Somehow, I think the offense looks amazing and puts up 30 plus, or just looks like complete shit and puts up 14 or less. No in between. That being said, they will finish with between 15-29 points.

Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
What qb do the jags have that we can make look like a future Hoffer.
Jags: 28 Wash: 25 |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Regardless of outcome, I'm positive we actually put up some points. I'm super nervous about our defense, but if our offense can get in the end zone vs. field goals, I think we'll put up 25+. Is that enough to win?

Week 1 injury report
Kam Curl - thumb DNP Sims - concussion, limited Thomas - limited Cole Turner - limited bates, mathis, Trai Turner - full Jags - 1 guy, DT Fatukasi limited. https://www.commanders.com/news/commanders-jaguars-week-1-injury-report Curl, Sims, Logan Thomas assumed to be out Sunday. |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Those of you who are using the preseason as a gauge to predict the regular season for the Commanders are way off the mark. Most teams, including ours, play their starters sparingly and show very little of their offense and defense in preseason games.
One season when Joe Gibbs was our coach I was upset about the Redskins preseason performance which was putrid. I asked my wife's opinion and she said "Are you kidding me? This team is loaded! We're going to the Super Bowl this season! Purchase our Super Bowl tickets now." Naturally, I didn't buy the SB tickets and we did go to the SB - and we won it. |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
This really does feel like a really big opening game considering our franchise's total scenario. Very interested to see how both offenses look. Still think Lawrence will be good. Just get the W Commanders. No excuses.

Yep, every since this year, I don't give a shit about win/loss records in pre-season. We looked amazing that year in the pre-season and we sucked hard. |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Weather could potentially be crappy as well, as there's a moderate chance of rain in the forecast on Sunday.

Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Jags 56
Wash 3 JDL gets fired after game Wentz craps the bed and Is benched Snyders box is raided at halftime by DOJ .. he leaves in cuffs We all are fighting and going off until we hear the Snyder news… The field is sloppy and a giant sinkhole forms and the game has to be played on one side of 50 yard line .. I’m sure you guys can add to this story line😳😀😀😀 |

I am too but this is also where having Carson Wentz can be valuable. The guy has done a very good job through his career of not giving up a lot of interceptions. Decrease their short field opportunities, increase our drive length. Hopefully get a lead and make the Jags plays from behind. This defense can shine when they have their ears pinned back. |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Uggh. This is where my heart and my brain go to war.
Heart says we win easily. Say 30-10. Head says we lose 2-3 players to injury. Commit absolutely terrible penalties and when we do not we get flagged anyway. Our defense has the world saying Trevor Lawrence has arrived. Samuels pulls a hammy running onto the field. Scherff absolutely dominates against our Dline. Carson looks mediocre at best, and we lose 30-10. |

Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Game 1. Anything can happen. Win or lose, I'm not going to draw too many conclusions. After week 4 we'll have a good idea where this team is heading.
I think they did the right thing during the preseason though, giving the starters some meaningful work. I don't think they showed anything. Was there even one pass attempt over 20 yards by Wentz in the preseason? Look for that to change. Hot takes: Everyone gets involved on offense this weekend. Gibson, McLaurin, Dotson, and Samuel will all have over 50 yards receiving. McLaurin leads the pack with 100+. Gibson adds 70 yards rushing and ZERO fumbles. Defense forces two turnovers. WAS - 30 JAX - 20 |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
I think the offense will get off to a slow start, the defense will struggle on 3rd down, the kicker will miss one and the Jags steal one.. 20-17

Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
I am excited to see McBadass play with a QB that can actually throw the ball successfully further than 20 yards.

As fans, preseason is for individual players evaluation, nothing more. I think there are reasons to be optimistic. I'm kinda excited about our O. D feels like a huge question mark, talented roster but hasn't fully gelled together yet. The Jags are intriguing. I think their roster is better than last year's 3-14. They have their QB, bulked up their Oline and added some weapons (Engram, Kirk)... Not a juggernaut but it'll be a good test for our Defense. Their D doesn't look that good to me, hopefully it's a good opportunity for our O to show us what they got ! After an offseason where I wined more than any other year, I'm gonna go full Kool Aid and say we win this one 27 - 21 ! |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
I am not a Rivera fan. While in Carolina he had, arguably, the best quarterback in football at the time but he had only 3 winning seasons out of 10 and has had no winning seasons while in Washington. I do give Rivera props for turning this team around from the trash that he inherited. I hope Washington wins this game. They should. The Jaguars are not the best of teams.

Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
We need to do our warmups too guys. Make sure we're ready for gameday.
I'm warming this bad boy up for when we repeat our trend of not scoring any points in the first quarter this Sunday. [yt]g2c_-9kIjyU[/yt] |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
I think it's going to be a good game. Jacksonville getting Pederson and their new players along with a healthy Etienne is a dramatic improvement from the 2021 version. So happy preseason is over. Just nothing compares to the regular season. Big opening game.

Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
I hate how we have become such a negative franchises…..
Let’s fucking GOOOOOOO! We are the better team, 44-30 Skins baby! I love the fans who still rally for a win |

TE Logan Thomas will play opener |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Wentz did not impress me in preseason but then again he barely played.
I think the Jags will win,i think Pederson’s a better coach and they have more talent this year. Carolina 31 Skins17 |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Now that I am living in Jacksonville I've been paying some attention to the Jaguars so I think I can provide some insight into what kind of a team we'll be facing today.
Here is what we should fear the most about the Jags: Head Coach Doug Pederson. Coach Pederson is a breath of fresh air for Jags players after they suffered through a season of Urban Meyer at the helm and I think they'll play hard for him. More than that, Pederson is one of the top offensive minds in football and he will be calling the plays. JDR is no match for him. Pederson is as creative a play caller in the Red Zone as I've seen. Do you think we've had trouble stopping other teams on third down? Now we may be needing to stop the Jags on fourth down, as well. Pederson has gone for it on fourth down and converted more first downs on fourth down plays than any coach in the NFL. Now to the various units. QB - Trevor Lawrence is improved this season and he is a pleasure to watch even if you aren't rooting for him. He still has some work to do in playing the position. He doesn't always anticipate when receivers will be coming open and instead he relies on his rocket arm too much. That results in his throwing behind receivers. He also throws into double or triple coverage at times. Yet he is an outstanding talent who can beat you. OL - This is not a top-notch unit IMO. They have a good LT and a great RG (our boy Brandon Sherff). They have struggled throughout the preseason to find starters at RT and LG. Their C is young and not particularly stout. RB - They have a RB tandem of James Robinson and Travis Etienne that is very strong if the OL can move people. WR - They have a couple of good veterans at WR but they lack a true #!. TE - Also not an impressive unit IMO. They have Evan Engram but I can't recall that we ever had much trouble from him. The Jags play a base 3-4 defense. DL - Good inside pass rushing but not impressive against the run. OLB - Good pass rushers. ILB - One good vet and two promising rookies. DB - Not very impressive. Can be beaten. K - They have had trouble finding a FG kicker. I don't think they succeeded. |

But about the coaches, like I said I agree Pederson is the better coach and these two teams are pretty evenly matched, and I think Rivera will be thoroughly out coached by Peterson today and that will be the difference |
Re: JAGS PRE GAME THREAD
Wentz is a good QB.....we have to accept that he will make mistakes at times....
