Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
I would have rather had Darkwa. Wonder what the decision process was.

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
And just when I thought there were adults over at Redskin Park they do this dumb ass shit.

Per Field Yates: @FieldYates Adrian Peterson's optimal role is when he can handle early down (non-passing situations) work, chew up carries and use his power/agility to wear a defense down. Washington presents exactly that. Also, apparently AP was interested in playing with the Redskins, and it looks like he wasn't the team's first phone call (I think Darkwa visited first). |

It's a 1-year deal and we only have two healthy RBs (Kelly and Bibbs). Also, there are a lot of jobs on the line, so this doesn't surprise me, nor does it seem too crazy. |

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Not a fan of this signing. But let's be honest it all depends on the money. And in all likelihood he's an improvement over Slim Rob.
|
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
I would highly doubt he isn't RB1 come week 1 but we will see..
I'd like to see Bibbs get more carries tho |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Normally I'd hate a move like this but considering where we are at RB I think it's a good move. Little risk.
|
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
I guess let AP run behind Scherrf and it's hopefully enough of a threat...

I get all that but he is 33 years old. He is not going to fit in with what we have going on here. He's going to want the ball 20 plus times like he did in New Orleans. I find it hard to believe that this wasn't done to try and sell tickets. Garbage ass Vinny Cerrato type of signing. |

Well I do think whoever our RB with CT is will get the ball enough. I don't think we are going with a rotational type system. |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
All Day AP more like Sometimes in the Morning AP now.
But we needed a body and someone that can handle a good sized workload. He fits the bill. Hopefully they don't use this as reason to push Marshall to IR before they find out if its really needed. |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Hope he can find the fountain of youth here but I doubt it’s going to happen.

They’re friends, played together at OU, work out together in the offseason |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Last two seasons combined a 3.1 YPC and he is 33 years old. That is well past the expiration date of your typical running back. I doubt he will out perform a practice squad player at this point.

FTTR!! POS child abuser SUCKS as a person . . . SUCKED as a player last year too!! FAIL!!!!!

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Kinda hard to like this move when our left Tackle is faster than AP [emoji19]
I suppose this means AP is our #1 RB for first 2 downs. I don't believe AP would sign if he knew he wouldn't get to play much. |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Reportedly there is NO guaranteed money. It is almost a 2-week tryout.

Trent was very vocal on Social Media behind AD signing , they have been close for years. |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
I'm ok with it. Had to bring someone in, might as well be AP. Apparently Darkwa wasn't coming in unless he was going to be crowned the starter...
At a minimum he provides a healthy body to eat up carries, while we kick the tires and see what he has over the next couple weeks. Just his presence likely helps the running back room too. My wish for the 3rd preseason game is to see Bibbs and AP split carries with the 1st offense for the 1st half. I know that won't happen, but it would be good to see what they can do with the starters. I actually think Bibbs is better than Kelley, but he doesn't get any love. Time will tell if this signing means anything, or if he is actually on the 53 man roster, but for now it's a move that had to be made. |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
BTW, AP had more attempts per game than RK and SP combined last year, and averaged more yards than them - mostly behind a terrible Cardinals O-line. I don't see it as a downgrade when you compare him to what we have. Even at 33 defenses will have to respect his talent, opening up things for AS and all his other weapons.

We need someone who is not hurt to run the ball, right now we only have two players that are %100 healthy. Jay's job is on the line and Dough Williams has been consistently saying that they need to improve the running game (a judgement on all the returning RBs not named Chris Thompson). With Guice out and all the injuries, the running game would have been back to last year's status. AP was given a 1-year deal, which is very low risk/high reward type of situation IMO. I'd prefer this outcome, as opposed to giving up a draft pick on a 1-year rental. Did you forget the TJ Duckett trade? That was Vinny ball. Also, I prefer this to the status quo of having a recovering CT, banged up Perine and just Kelly and Bibbs healthy. |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
It's an OK move. We need a healthy body. AP is a healthy body. If anything, it will push Fat Rob and Perine.

I still think that whatever this year's running game ends up being, will be better since we have a QB that seems to be able to convert on 3rd and short, and can make a play off schedule. I'm also bummed that we didn't see more of Perine, because he had a hell of a first run against the Jets (and got hurt). |

I know Cousins was mobile, but Smith is much more of a mobile QB than what Cousins was, and that's always an added dimension to the offense too. Who knows, maybe Peterson winds up having a big year with the 'skins. I'd still just thank him for that one year and welcome Guice back with open arms in 2019, but ya never know. I know this was a different era, but Riggins had his best years in his twilight of his career. |

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Yea no problems here. Doubt they paid much and as previously stated he could mentally help the running back room, too. We need somebody and why not give the old guy a shot at doing something, anything.

because he is a horrible POS child abuser and doesn't deserve anything but prison time |

Yeah, I'm fine with it as long as he doesn't become a cancer bitching about his number of carries. If he starts that shit up like in New Orleans, cut his ass. Otherwise, it's not really a big deal in terms of signing a 1 year deal. |

One year deal. Not dumb at all. Guy had a couple big games last year behind the worst line in the nfl. He could be halfway decent and is here for depth so..... |
Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
Why is everyone freaking out? Lol. It is a one year deal, and he was really no worse than anyone we had last year (minus CT - who is coming off an injury and a third down back) and that was behind a much worse o line. This is not trading draft picks to sign a washed up ex star to a five year deal like the old days. If he fails miserably so be it. He will be gone next year anyway and this year we will go with kelly, perine, ct etc just like we would have. Its a very low risk possible high reward move. Chillax.

It's a few years ago now, a lot of ppl have put it behind them, he went thru the reccomended trearment and has shown remorse for his actions. We didn't sign him to babysit our kids... That's really as far as I want to go into this. |
Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson
I’m fine with it, it’s not like he signed for big money, given our RB situation we needed someone. I don’t have high hopes for him production wise but we shall see. Hope he proves me wrong.
