Ron Rivera Thread
May be a bit premature but...
Former #Panthers coach Ron Rivera has emerged as a top coaching candidate & has told people he expects a deal to come together quickly, sources say. It could even be 24 hours after Week 17 ends. The #Redskins have interest, tho other teams without openings yet are also circling. Also from Jay Glazer " Ron Rivera will sign a deal with Washington tonight to make him the teams next HC" Winning record ✅ Leader ✅ Playoffs & SB experience ✅ Defensive focus 😏 |
Re: Ron Rivera Thread
Been a fans of his going back to his playing days at Cal, then the bears and coaching.

Re: Ron Rivera Thread
May want to wait and see if he is hired before starting this..

I really hope not. He couldn’t keep Pacman Jones, Burfict, Ochocinco and others in line, his teams had no discipline. |

A lot of smoke usually means fire, I also believe Jay Glazer he's usually right

Re: Ron Rivera Thread
We're going to sign Ron Rivera then trade him and Kerrigan for Mike Tomlin.
In all seriousness, I would love this hire. If Bruce is gone and Rivera is hired its already a perfect off season. |

Eric Schaeffer is team prez (primary cap guy for the team, also part of the roster-building squad). Kyle Smith is GM (smart football man to be part of roster-building with Riverboat Ron) Riverboat Ron as HC (and possibly d-coordinator) KOC as O-coordinator (allows him to get 1-3 more seasons of experience before someone plucks him for HC) |

I don't want him attached to the team at all. You can hire plenty of outside consultants with connections to DC. My biggest fear with Allen being anywhere near the team is that the moment the new man in charge doesn't do something 100% approved by Dan that he'll run to Smithers and Smithers will blow smoke up Dans ass. Gotta cut him loose. |

As I stated previously, I'd love to see Ron Rivera as Head Coach of the Redskins! I do agree, though, that for ANY coach to have ANY success in Washington...Bruce Allen needs to be GONE!

Looks like a Ron Rivera hire would be universally applauded here. Are we a large enough sample size to extrapolate that across Skins nation?

Re: Ron Rivera Thread
Not sure why everyone seems so happy to sign a guy who has never had back-to-back winning seasons.
:saywhat: |
Re: Ron Rivera Thread
Has a winning record and went 15-1 one season.. We ain't getting anyone better than him

:saywhat:
I would also prefer someone with a sustained track record of success, or someone like Bienemy who comes from the Andy Reid track record of assistant coach success. However after this shitshow I am also willing to settle. |
Re: Ron Rivera Thread
Excpect Ron Rivera to be the next head coach of the Redskins. Will be in Ashburn tomorrow. Likes the young players. Could wait to name a GM until after the draft. #httr #redskins

Re: Ron Rivera Thread
So what coaches will Ron bring with him? I assume he will try to keep KOC for Haskins sake, but what about the DC position?

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1013074-10-best-nfl-defensive-coordinators-available#slide2
Niiiice find. For anyone who doesn't want to click the link:
10 best d-coordinators available: Dismissed after only one season by the San Diego Chargers, Greg Manusky deserves another shot at coordinating his own defense. The former Washington Redskins linebacker is a smart, young play-caller who crafts a hybrid 3-4 scheme built on strength and pressure. Manusky constructed much of the current San Francisco 49ers defense and developed their physical dominance against the run. He did not enjoy the same success in San Diego, where his Chargers unit often found it difficult to match opponents at the point of attack. But Manusky is still a solid defensive coach, with plenty of ideas and is still refining his craft. He would be ideal for a team possessing hybrid personnel. Best Landing Spot: Carolina Panthers The Panthers have experimented with 3-4 fronts throughout the season and need defensive help. Manusky would work well with head coach Ron Rivera and construct a unit able to handle both three and four man alignments.
Key words that don't compute: Smart, young, hybrid 3-4 built on strength and pressure. I feel like Jay Gruden read that article and was sold on him after Joe Barry. |

So no one thinks Ron will want to keep Norman?

Re: Ron Rivera Thread
An argument can be made to bring Wilks here to rejoin with Ron if he is let go by Cleveland.

Re: Ron Rivera Thread
I know I seen this earlier, but I can not find the post now. Is anyone else worried about him getting say over the draft. Alex Smith has done a good job running the draft and has found some good young talent. Why do we feel Ron can do better? Will we get a good GM that has no say on the draft?
